Vote, dammit.

Why did you make me choose between sci fi and fantasy? They are equal in my book but leaned fantasy in the split.

That's actually kind of interesting that you say that. I separated them because I like Sci Fi, but do not like Fantasy - in general, that is. I mean, all of us, I'm sure cross genres.
But most of the time they are lumped together and it always bothers me.

daily polls usually allow multiple choices, in this case it makes sense to have multiple choices.

Favorite, by definition, can not be more than one. It is a person (singular) or thing (singular) that has special preference. A group of book genres would be "favorites" or a "favorite group." There may be a poll later that cares about the different types of genres that Taiji read, but this ain't it. 8)

Hmm. So it's fiction set in history, with a lot of attention paid to the cultural and social norms of that era?

Usually it takes historical facts and fills the void with a story around it. It's similar to science-fiction when it takes a scientific theory and builds a story around it. Yes the writers usually have to research a lot.

I voted "Horror." I would have voted for "Fantasy," mainly because The Forgotten Realms series is outstanding, but my adoration of Stephen King & H.P. Lovecraft trumps it.

Fantasy for me! Brandon Sanderson (http://brandonsanderson.com/library) FTW.

I only know of brandon sanderson from some writing workshop he did where he complained about upcoming fantasy nerds' maps. The nerds were shocked to learn rivers do not split. Lots of nerds with leaky pocket protectors that day.

I'm learning from these polls that about the only thing we all agree on is that Taijitu is a diverse community, and to me that's a pretty dang good thing to be.
