Ratification of the Constitution of Taijitu
« on: January 07, 2007, 07:26:21 PM »
Good evening! I Pragmia will, with the expressed permission of Interim Delegate Sovereign Dixie, be your Ratification Officer for the night and coming week.

Well, the time has finally come! After much discussion,  revision, review, editing and nit picking, Sovereign Dixie, The G Rebellion, Eluvatar and I have come to the conclusion that our founding Constitution is as ready as it’ll ever be any time soon.

In accordance to the spirit of democracy on which Taijitu is founded and more importantly Article VIII of the Constitution, which states:

Quote
2. This document shall require the signature of three quarters of those interim citizens of Taijitu present at the time of signing.

...it is now time to open this document for a good and proper bout of ratification, or so I hope.

First off, Article VIII also states that:

Quote
1. All interim citizens of Taijitu shall be allowed to freely sign this document.

...and it is with that we shall be running along here, and as Myroria has said:

Quote
If you moved here from The Lexicon, you already have citizenship in Taijitu.

I shall be taking that to mean that all former Lexiconians who have since moved here at the beginning of Ratification are valid to participate.

Should you choose to participate, your options are simple: you can either sign this document or withhold your signature. Either way, please make a post here expressing your intention. If that intention was to sign (as I hope it will be for most of if not all of you) then you may proceed to the Constitution and attach your signature after having registered with the wiki. It is quite simple and will make it easier to keep track of the proceedings. Also when doing so it would be greatly appreciated if you were to leave a summary of your edit informing us of just who you are.

When signing, simply put "#~~~~" on a new line. If you have an account and are logged in it will do all the work for you.

And as for any funny business, don’t try it. This thing’ll record all edits and histories virtually forever, and I’ve got an original right here with me safe and sound. That, and we’ll gladly ban any IP which we find responsible from the Constitution and the forum in its entirety if we have to.

And now the final matter of business. Article II, Section 4 states:

Quote
4. Those among the undersigned who have met the conditions to be determined by the Ratification Officer at the time of the ratification of this document shall be granted the office of Senator at the time of the ratification of this document, excepting those who choose to forgo the office.

Seeing as I am Ratification Officer, and as it is now the time of the ratification of this document, I will proceed to comply with this clause and announce that all undersigned who held Senatorship in the Lexicon shall qualify for automatic induction into the Senate.

If you do not wish to be a Senator, or Citizen then please state that you forgo the office explicitly here when signing.

This thread will be open for seven days, a week, no longer. After that the process will be complete and with any luck we'll officially be up and running. And by signing, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree with the body of the Constitution.

EDIT: Sorry about that, what I meant to say was, and this is very important...

When signing, simply put "#~~~~". If you have an account and are logged in it will do all the work for you.

Sorry I forgot that.

And I of course will be signing.

Proud Constitutionalist

When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.

Tyrants from Hitler to Mao to Stalin have sought to disarm their own citizens, for the simple reason that unarmed people are easier to control.
