The Chase

The curved shape of the smuggling freighter glinted in the light of the sun peaking around the edge of the blue and green planet sitting below. On it, the five crew members were preparing a heist. The Empire delivered supplies to the inner colonies almost every day. The people there lived in luxury. The outer colonies were a different story however. They were often left without supply drops for weeks. Independent business wasn't allowed to venture into Government activities and as such, the colonies were often left without medicines and even in extreme cases, food.

This was a huge market for smugglers. It wasn't an easy one however and many ships had been mercilessly turned to the shredders; microscopic robotic weaponry that attach to a ships hull and slowly tear a ship to pieces. Crews died cold and painfully as the last particles of oxygen escaped the ship and their lungs could find nothing to fill themselves with. Asphyxiation was in no way a glamorous death. The raw materials would then be collected and used to create boxes to carry the supplies in. There was a sort of circular poetry to it all.

The smugglers ship, an aesthetically pleasing yet practical design could carry enough supplies in their hold to keep a colony in good condition for at least a week. The crew of the ship had their own twisted sense of morality and they believed in what they did. The Empire however, didn't seem to appreciate it, no matter the ethical nature of the smuggling.

Fleet Admiral Jonathon Pearce was the man in charge of the anti-smuggling division. His flagship was famous for the amount of smuggling vessels it had brought down. It's target was orbiting a blue and green planet in the inner sectors and they were closing in on their target.
