Title: Open Relations with Canada
Post by: Eluvatar on January 14, 2015, 04:34:30 PM
Canada is a large albeit founderless region which has stood the test of time. They have considerable diplomatic gravitas, including embassies with The East Pacific and The North Pacific, as well as a number of others.

As discussed elsewhere, they were invaded and occupied for a time this Summer.

I would like to suggest Taijitu open relations with Canada, exchange embassies, the works.

Thoughts?

I would like that. I'm more than willing to approach their delegate officially about this.

I would like to know more about this region before commenting one way or another. Could you link to their forums?

They're a pretty cool bunch. I would support this

After going through their Constitution I approve.

Heartily agreed! Let's approach them to see if they're amenable to opening relations with us.

Do we need to vote first, before approaching, or can we vote after they've agreed?

I believe a vote upon creating initial terms is best.

I'm all about making friends.

I'd say vote first.  If we contact them and they'd like the same, then we vote no (not likely), we'd look stupid.  Better safe than sorry.

Yes!

While my instinct is to approach them first so we don't vote on something that may never happen, I agree that it would be considerably worse if Canada agrees to open relations and then we vote it down.

LOL. That would be a bit awkward.

Full support for this. Canada's a fine place.

All right.

I move the previous question.

(I move for a vote).

Thought I would give the Ecclesia an update on this:

I proposed the construction of embassies on Canada's forum in late January. On January 28, Matilda Love, a minister with the region, informed me the "wheels were in motion" and I have heard nothing since.

I will check up on this from time to time but I thought I would let the Ecclesia know where this stands right now.

I'm assuming all their wheels are maple leaf shaped and don't really stay in motion well.

Gummed up with syrup they are.
