Time Zones?
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:58:46 PM »
What would everyone think about time zones? If we have a general consensus, I would be more than willing to make the actual zones.

Well... I can't say it's a BAD idea. But I must say it is an interesting concept.

I will stay neutral, and request that if this gets passed through the council, that Talstadt be considered Mountain Time.

*shrugs*

It's really not that big an issue, just dividing the map into 24 segments. In fact, I'll do it right now:

Prag... you're assuming that Taijitu has a 24 hour day. Not that I'm saying it shouldn't, but. Also, some nations might request their entire nation be less timezones. We should work it out.

Well aware of  that....said chart was made in five minutes before I plodded of to bed at 1:00 AM. And anyway, if it's some thing strange like a 27 hour day, just divide it into 27 segements.

Taijitu does have a 24 hour day.

And the timezones should probably go around islands to make it like real life.

I've been fiddling with the 24 hour one, manipulating so that the timezones follow national borders rather than passing through nations.

Though, for some big nations the country will still have to be split, in which case I need to know the internal borders of the constituent provinces/states/cantons/prefectures etc. You are one such nation Myroria by the way.

And as for how many "hours" there are to a Taijitan day, it has nothing to do with the planet. It's just an arbitray division of the day's length into an arbitrary number of divisions. Just redefine "hour" and you can have as many as you want in day. Anyway, I say we stick with 24 for familiarities sake.

Well, I know that big nations will have to be split up. You also have to take into account that certain nations (not me) might make their people follow one time zone like China.
