The Queendom of Zanzatar
« on: July 14, 2015, 03:24:07 AM »
The Queendom of Zanzatar is a fairly new yet fairly sizable nation where the rulers reign over the citizens with an iron fist and the only ones not in misery are the royal family and the tiny aristocratic class. Large businesses are also exempt from the dismal life of the common Zanzatarian.

Zanzatar was formed after the violent coup d'etat courtesy of revolutionary Zola Fragenheindart who had been strategically planning the take over of her government for years due to the deterioration of her country's stability as a result of its compassion. After storming and capturing the capital, Zola publicly executed her ruler and with her crimson blade high above her head, she claimed the land as her kingdom which she named after a location in an ancient story.

With haste, Zola took control of the land that belonged to her former country and slightly expanded it. The conquered people were forced to abandon their cultures and abide by the strict Zanzatarian laws.

Zanzatar is a highly industrial nation which mainly exports outdated arms, automobiles, information technology and mercenaries while its main imports are textiles and food. There are factories in almost every city, billowing a blanket of smoke into the atmosphere. Due to the efficiency of the factories, Zanzatarian wares are often hailed as being of of the best.

Although Zanzatar is a capitalist nation, most of its citizen do not reap the benefits of such a system, with freedom of consumer choice being greatly limited. The most positive thing that can be said for most of the populace is that they are pretty equal in their lack of freedom. Heads of big corporations escape the bleak life of most Zanzatarians but it's almost impossible to climb the social ladder in Zanzatar, with most high-paying positions being gained by inheritance.

If most nations are akin to a family or a tree then Zanzatar is a machine, with every decision made to make sure the machine remains functioning efficiently as possible. The machine makes sure the economy remains strong, that expansion continues and that its citizens remain diligent workers and soldiers. The machine is well oiled for The Royal Family would go ballistic at a breakdown of their cherished system that they believe will allow them to save the world by crushing the weak.

The laws of Zanzatar are stifling and harsh to a shocking degree, with Zanzatarians lacking freedom and their lives are often positioned to be the most inconvenient as possible in the eyes of most outside nations. While some Zanzatarians bear their grim existences with admirable resolve, others fall into a horrible despair. The laws of The Queendom of Zanzatar are upheld by a brutal, militaristic police force that publicly and brutally punishes criminals to deter other citizens. The Queen also employs secret police which quells and erases the presence of any and all dissidents. Freedom of speech is almost unheard of. The wealthy and The Royal Family are completely above the law.

Zanzatar is highly imperial and never ceases its hunger for expansion, not giving an iota of care towards the people it must kill and displace for more land. Since inception it has always had expansion in mind and has a sizable navy to annex far-off lands. The Queendom of Zanzatar has a large military and service is compulsory.  With advanced weaponry and trained soldiers, Zanzatarians form a formidable military force. In training, Zanzatarians' frustrations and anger are cultivated into a deadly drive to kill.

The only bond that the wealthy and poor share is the nation-wide uniform that everyone (barring the Royal Family) is required to wear, the particular uniform being a navy green Mao Suit. Due to this, Zanzatarians are said to remember faces exceptionally well.

The Royal Family of Zanzatar and its council are the rulers of The Queendom of Zanzatar and they reside in the city of Zolopolis at the base of the massive volcano that has been christened "Zola". At the summit of this gigantic volcano is Castle Zanzatar. The Royal Family upholds a massive cult of influence ((not unlike that  of North Korea)) in order to instill loyalty towards the royal family, with many citizens worshiping them. One that is not of royal blood is not considered part of The Royal Family and as such, aristocrats are not permitted to marry a member of the royal family, they are only used to produce more offspring.

After a large military growth, the second queen, Ziza has challenged anyone foolish enough to try to invade Zanzatar.

Is this a request for some nation to be foolish?  Because I can do that!  ;D

Unfortunately, our proximity makes it really difficult to find a reason to invade.

I'll second the request for a timeframe. Modern era? Mid-20th century?

Myroria might be reticent for a full out war but could send in Section 6 operatives to try and destabilize things.

Sorry for the late reply. I guess at first I had an alternate universe in mind but being realistic given their current and last gen armory and the fact that I want them to have slightly advanced technology in their military, I'd say early to mid 1940s or very late 1930s.

So WWII Nazi Germany tech.

BF-109 E4

Panzer IV

U-505 (1939)

You shouldn't get too deep into specifics, most of us had bad experiences Role Playing war, mind most rather character building and whatever goes either parallel or tangent of a war. Make sure you plan ahead in this section of the forum with all those involved any kind of conflict (so there is no conflict in the writing). We're here to help and have awesome experience, you can also join our IRC channel. :D

I'll second what Delfos said. I'm interested in participating in an RP like this as well.
