In hopes of creating hype for the upcoming Coup series (you know, Exchange of Emails, Code Biyernes), I've made my first RP to familiarize everyone with the Marcos dynasty's beginnings, and the Philippines in general.
Setting: The 1890s. A Philippines colonized by a foreign power (left vague, or anyone want to fit their nation with the Spanish colonists?) A world in an industrial revolution. Technology would be similar to the real-life version, with a few amenities added: pistols, revolvers, rifles; radio; horse carriages + trains.
Theme: A revolution. The Philippine rebellion, led by Gen. Fernando Marcos, who's actually a nice person. Will showcase the resilience and beaten-down nature of the Pinoys. Will show how, after the events of this RP, Fernando is elected as the first President, and thus establishing his political dynasty.
Gameplay: An action / drama sort of thing, primarily in the eyes of both soldier and commander. Often, you'll be playing as one of five soldiers in Marcos' special assistance team. Feel free to personalize your soldier in any way. I hope that I'll be able to pull off combat, but there isn't any overt mechanic to that. Everything will be played in pure RP.
The first five who play select who they are in the 5-man team at their own discretion. (Man, I'd be lucky to get that many playing :p) Latecomers play as something else... just ask here for requests.
Note: As the underfunded and outgunned Philippine Army (Magsulong Republic), expect a lot of sudden problems with logistics, weaponry and manpower. There'll be a good share of having to pull shit out of your ass.

Two questions:
1) The 5 guys to choose from are in the first post of the RP thread, right?
2) Can I have one of those guys be from my nation? Like a secret ops guy or even just a mercenary?

1.) Yes. Mentioned just before the ending of the actual RP thread. You can choose Antonio or the four no-named ones.
2.) I... can accept mercenary. Yes.

Sure, I'm in. Can my "guy" be a female? If it clashes with your society at the time or whatever, I can be a dude, no problem.
Character name: Frylee Upsworth (or Fragis Upsworth, if male)
Origin: The Republic of Megatridimensional Order
Occupation: Mercenary
Skills/Specialty: Stealth, Assassination, One of the best in Taijitu with a machete.
Background: Veteran and key player of several of the late-1800 expansion wars, fighting on the side of the Republic of Megatridimensional Order. Has no problem working with a group, and is friendly with those she works with, but only for convenience and only until the job is done. Primary motivation is cold hard cash, but she admittedly has a psychopathic enjoyment of straight up, one on one murder. Carries two machetes and a flintlock (pistol) with her at all times, uses the pistol only occasionally.
I was thinking you could use her as scout, assassin, or whatever and I could RP the missions. In open combat, I would imagine her like Batman - disappearing then popping up with utmost tenacity and effectiveness. ;D

Okay, I'll approve your character. Keep in mind though, the squad is more of an actual army type than special forces. Between the lines of both, maybe.

With just 5 guys? Are they just one squad of an army or something?

A squad, yes. Five guys are practically all that the Rebellion could spare to support Ruiz's camp. You could say there are more squads under the command of someone like Castor that are being mobilized to help the invasion effort as the RP goes on.

I'm interested. Just some comments:
1898 is the start of the Great War between Myroria and Eluvatar against Ozia and Letonna. Most of North Cefnor would be occupied with this, which would of course work well because none of the great powers up there could afford to intervene in a foreign civil war. Just something I thought I'd let you know.
I'm interested in writing as a member of this squad as well. I could be either a foreign mercenary or a local soldier, but I would need an accurate Filipino name if I were to write as the latter.

Ah, two wars in that time period? That's exactly the ripe timing a rebellion needs.
An accurate Filipino name... a lot has changed with naming standards for the last two centuries, but I'm from a rural part of the country, so I know tradition. Is your character a boy or a girl?
