(Well, you all saw this coming! Here we go…)
Oh boy! My first election for glorious Taijitu! I’ll keep this somewhat short, very sweet, and to the point for you guys. Enjoy!
Hello, citizens of Taijitu! I come to you today seeking the title of Citizen-Liaison, a title which provokes community, passion, cooperation, friendship, and fun! And, well, I hope to satisfy all these needs, and more! I don’t want to waste any of your time on this glorious regional forum, so let me explain what I plan to do as Citizen-Liaison. My time in office will focus on three main factors: Transparency, Democracy, and Fun.
I think I can agree with many of you when I say Taijitu is one of, if not the most transparent region in NationStates since the Glorious Revolution. This is something that I think has benefitted our region tremendously, both encouraging new nations to participate in our government and established ones to make their mark on society and politics in Taijitu that simply isn’t possible in other regions. I plan to spread this transparency even further throughout the region as Liaison.
First, I will strongly encourage the IRC board, as it is undoubtedly the best way to directly connect with the Taijitu community on anything and everything, from serious real-world politics to pictures of your pet rolling on the floor. I will do this by both committing to the IRC at least twice a week (usually weekends) and, over the long term, improving the IRC to something better than it is today. My ideal goal would be to set up multiple distinct servers, including one for Taijitu politics (more serious stuff), one for the real world (less serious stuff), one for live role-plays, one for debates/lectures, and many more. I plan to work with the Taijitu community as well with our other members of office to obtain this goal. It will be a fantastic system for all citizens of Taijitu to communicate about absolutely anything in an extremely efficient manner.
Along with the IRC, our forum is also very powerful and crucial to our government as a direct democracy acting successfully. To make the forum as easy to understand as I can, I will keep comprehensive guides on my office for anyone to see, as well as a permanent Q&A panel for anyone to ask anything about the forum or our government on. And for a long, long term goal, I plan to completely rehaul the forum into a system based on pictures, in which users click on pictures of buildings and nations to explore Taijitu as if it was the real world. I will write more about this in the Proposals section of the Ecclesia.
Of course, this wonderful transparency of our government could not be possible without what I think is the best form of government in both Taijitu and the real world: direct democracy. To keep democracy a key part in our glorious nation, I will strongly encourage absolutely everyone in Taijitu to both join the forums and IRC, and to propose any legislation they desire for the region. In any great direct democracy, everyone from the newest newbie to the most seasoned NationStates player should be able to write their thoughts and put it to a vote, whether written as wonderfully as Shakespeare’s works or grammatically incorrect enough to make a Grammar Nazi want to commit another holocaust. Everyone’s thoughts are equal, no matter what.
Lastly, I wouldn’t be a good Citizen-Liaison of Taijitu without having a bit of fun in the process! I plan to make Taijitu as fun as humanly possible, and then add a bit more fun to that! In short, I want Taijitu to have the most enjoyable experience of any region in NationStates.
First, I’ll always keep a casual tone as Liaison and encourage everyone else to do so, so that any new nation isn’t scared off by strange words and formats that could prevent them from joining the forums or IRC, proposing legislation, or even staying on Taijitu for a long period of time. Some formal speak will be required at times, but it will be kept to an absolute minimum.
Secondly, parties, celebrations, holidays, etc. will be a top priority of mine as Liaison! We’ll celebrate everything from real-life holidays to Taijitu-specific holidays such as Revolution Day on Ventaire 1st (we will keep our current calendar set up by Myroria).
In summary, you’ll see a government more transparent, more democratic, and more fun with AwesomeSaucer. So, let’s kick back and relax, make some laws, and have a rip-roarin’ good time! If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to leave them down below. Vive le Révolution Glorieuse!
[in]EDIT: I still very much uphold to the values above for the current election after glorious Al'Khem has resigned, and I encourage you all to still view this speech as current.[/in]
