Taijitu Exploration Society

The TES is hereby founded to explore the unknown parts of the world.
What lies behind the boundaries of this small part of the world that we live in?

This Magazine is the TES official newpaper.
Anybody making discovery may post them here.

Not a day old the board of TES has unaanimously decided to join it's efforts with the Taijitu Geographic Society.

The TES will be a regular insert to the TGS.

The Ministry of Education has announce the initiation of the East Enigma Project, which will be the first government sponsored expedition into the Auregai Longitude Zone, an area of mystic and utter unknown that has thwart millenniums of efforts to explore the area. This expanse, which runs from the northern to southern poles, has effectively created a wall of continual and turbulent tropical storms and air currents that make safe passage impossible even as civilization advanced to the modern age.

Many ships and aircraft that have attempt to enter the Auregai Longitude accidentally or purposely were lost at the hands of ten meter waves and hurricane air currents. Scientist within the century concluded that this barrier of of climatic chaos was a result of our planet's placement of land mass and ocean bodies that create these "hot zones" of 24/7 storms. This theory also introduce the idea of new continents existing beyond these hot zones, waiting to be discover.

However, the Loyanese government throughout it's State heydays never follow up on any attempt to explore these areas, even as Loyan entered a period of rapid technological advances. During the Chancellor Period, the State dismissed calls to explore the Auregai Beyond as a waste of government resources and a dangerous venture that gave no benefit but that of fulfilling idle minds. Schools were simply taught the world as it was known and any data collected from the Auregai Zone was hidden or erased.

But now, with democratic reforms established and a general search for a solution to the Old World's overpopulation, the Loyan government will for the first time fund and manage the exploration of the Auregai Beyond, in hope of discovering the mystic unknowns of Taijitu. In the words of a Anyia University professor "A new age has began here, an age of new exploration that will inspire and awe the minds of today."

Mapping of the planet has been a dream for generations and it was believed that with the age of modern rocket science and satellite technology this goal could be achieved.
But then the huge gas cloud around the planet was discovered.
It allows fast objects like transport rockets or the manned moon mission of the Myrorians to pass. But any satellite close enough to map the planet will be shredded to pieces by the gas and micrometeorites.
As the gas cloud extends to nearly geosynchronous orbit any satellite there could not see trough the cloud without the picture becoming blurred.
There had been plans to put a radar satellite up as radio-waves can penetrate the cloud.
But to map the surface from geostationary orbit using radars would have required much more power than technology at the time could provide.
Nearly all early satellite were powered by solar cells which had a low efficiency in the beginning.
Also nuclear power was considered it was not used due to fear of a launch failure and the catastrophic results there off.
Even the different GPS systems only work because modern solar panels have higher efficiency and there are receivers on the surface to catch the signal.
Also the sunlight being reflected of what are believed Ice crystals on the day side of the planet hinder observation.
Scientist from Terrangar University have theorized that this gas cloud could be the remains of a comet that was caught by Taijitus gravity well.
It may have according to this theory have become a second moon at first. Over time it would have been torn apart by the tidal forces of Taijitu and Selene.
However Archaeologists have pointed out that there are no historical mentions of such an occurrence.
Other scientists are pointing out that such a huge comet would have been visible from the planets surface and thus appeared in historical documents.

ooc Magnetic anomaly would be out of the question as it would nullify our GPS signals. And a planetary ring would endanger the Myrorian manned space travel as well as the construction of space stations. Most of the space stations would be far out if we have any up there.

Sitting in State Yard Two is a imposing nuclear submarine that has been undergoing extensive work by the yard engineers. the former LN nuclear submarine meant for carrying nuclear missiles, has been drag out from military service and into the grand exploration project of East Enigma. Formerly the C.L.S Ice Strike, the submarine has been sitting in Yaolin's naval docks unfinished ever since Loyan's nuclear arsenal was disposed of. Now, she has a second chance of life as the expedition's first vessel.

The submarine has been modified extensively for it's new role. It's twelve missile silos have been refitted to launch Aerial Rocket Drones that will survey and gather data on the atmospheric conditions of the Auregai Zone and the Auregai Beyond (notably the cloud cover). All on board weapon systems have been removed and destroyed by LN technicians, making room for scientific equipment and supply storage. It's stern torpedo tubes have also been modified similarly to the silos, in this case to launch navigation buoys designed by Terran colleagues.

The advantage of the nuclear propulsion system is clear. With an almost limitless endurance, the submarine will be able to move below the turbulent waves of Auregai without having to refuel or surface. A prototype carbon dioxide-to-oxygen system will be fitted as well to complement the sub's human crew. A variety of other new technologies will integrated into the submarine. During the voyage through the hot zone and beyond, satellite and radar guidance will be limited. The navigation buoys and gyro compass will serve as the only aids to plotting course.

Ninety days of supply is to be carried on the vessel's first voyage. Project managers hope to discover landmass in the Beyond during the eight week exploration of the unknown zone. The crew complement has include several prominent Loyanese and Terran academics and scientists. The voyage has receive prominent attention from the public due to its incomprehensible historic and scientific importance. People involve with the project admit that they are both nervous yet very excited about this first voyage.

The submarine will be registered as the Infinity.

Myroria announces plans to re-start Second Moonshot program

Myroria, previously keeping a second moonshot secret, has not only come out that they have already completed one test mission, but that more will begin regardless of the war with the DSA and Dysanii. Alexander Samuel Luxbrou, the Assistant to the Master of the Imperial Space Administration and de facto head of the ISA, had the following to say:

"The Imperial Space Administration has kept our planned second return to the moon secret because of possible attacks from both terrorists and Dysanii, but we will simply increase security around our launch pads and take routes far from our enemies. The chance to return to Selene is too great to pass up."

In related news, a large asteroid impact on Selene not only caused quite a stir, but launched up quite a lot of dust and rocks, which may coagulate into a small moonlet within a few years. The ISA is still surveying this turn of events. Depending on the orbit and placement of the hypothetical second moon, it may be torn by the constant tug-of-war between Taijitu and Selene, or it may become the first moon that has been seen forming before our very eyes.

Taijitu Exploration Society

To support the Loyan/ Terrangan expedition into the Eastern Wonder Wall, the Terrangan exploration society has proposed the following plan.
To use a Loyan ICBM left over from their nuclear disarmament.
These rockets would be equipped with probes that then would be launched form the ship close to the wall and fly into the weather anomaly to take measures of temperature, pressure, wind speed, direction of wind and moisture content of the air. As well as take measures in the electromagnetic spectrum.
The probe would then send the data by radio telemetry and store it at the same time should radio contact break.
The probe would land on a parachute and send out a homing beacon either by radio or – in case of a water landing- by sonar signals.

Also the TES has brought up a plan for the first journey of the „Infinity“ it will present to the Loyan government.
This plan proposes to travel trough what is known as the „Bulge“ from a southern port of Terrangar to the south.
This will allow the sub to be tested under actual conditions as will be found during the exploration and still be close enough to safe waters should anything go wrong.
Several ships will be positioned along the route outside of the „Bulge“ to act as rescue ships.
These are mostly fishing trawlers equipped with GPS,long range civilian radio and rescue equipment.

Until the „Infinity“ is ready the Terrangan Navy will send a Tupi class submarine close to the zones border to take measurements.
For safety reasons the submarine will however not penetrate too deep.

The power we hold comes from our citizens.
And they may take it away as well.
