The Ministry of Education has announce the initiation of the East Enigma Project, which will be the first government sponsored expedition into the Auregai Longitude Zone, an area of mystic and utter unknown that has thwart millenniums of efforts to explore the area. This expanse, which runs from the northern to southern poles, has effectively created a wall of continual and turbulent tropical storms and air currents that make safe passage impossible even as civilization advanced to the modern age.
Many ships and aircraft that have attempt to enter the Auregai Longitude accidentally or purposely were lost at the hands of ten meter waves and hurricane air currents. Scientist within the century concluded that this barrier of of climatic chaos was a result of our planet's placement of land mass and ocean bodies that create these "hot zones" of 24/7 storms. This theory also introduce the idea of new continents existing beyond these hot zones, waiting to be discover.
However, the Loyanese government throughout it's State heydays never follow up on any attempt to explore these areas, even as Loyan entered a period of rapid technological advances. During the Chancellor Period, the State dismissed calls to explore the Auregai Beyond as a waste of government resources and a dangerous venture that gave no benefit but that of fulfilling idle minds. Schools were simply taught the world as it was known and any data collected from the Auregai Zone was hidden or erased.
But now, with democratic reforms established and a general search for a solution to the Old World's overpopulation, the Loyan government will for the first time fund and manage the exploration of the Auregai Beyond, in hope of discovering the mystic unknowns of Taijitu. In the words of a Anyia University professor "A new age has began here, an age of new exploration that will inspire and awe the minds of today."
