People of the Kal'tru
« on: May 02, 2007, 03:39:03 AM »
Official Name: United Nations of the Kal'tru
Common Form: People of the Kal'tru; Kal'tru

Political Structure: Confederated Democracy (similar to the RL UN)

Capital: L'roy Een

Head of State: Secretary General Karum Talken

Administrative Divisions: Over 150 specific member nations.  The major nations are the six permanent members of the Kal'tru High Council.  These include the countries of Aizarb, R'poru, Scirema, Sidni, Silartsu, Snih'c.

Kal'tru Space Control:

The Kal'tru control two dozen star systems, including their home in the Talod Star System.  All of the star systems are within a relatively close distance of the Talod Star System, and their fleets rarely leave their territory.

Kal'tru Technology:

Kal'tru Technology is based around a material found only on their homeworld, Talod III, and its two moons, known to the Kal'tru as S'net, S'nul, and Dram, respectively, called Jarenium.  Jarenium is used in the construct all spaceships and technology, combined with steel and superhard metals.

Jarenium weaponry are based on radioactive "weapons-grade" jarenium, which is harvested only on Dram.  This light radioactivity also powers their hyperdrives and their most powerful technology: Controlled Personnel Wormholes.

Through the use of a purely jarenium ring structure, installed with certain computer technology, and powered by a very small amount of WG jarenium, a controlled wormhole can be created for a period of almost fifteen minutes between two of the rings, known as Astriaporta.  The Astriaporta is controlled on S'net itself by a massive dialing computer, in very controlled situations, but in other colonized systems, the Astriaporta are dialed via devices with engraved symbols on them.  Engraved symbols, based on constellations from S'net's point of view, are at arbitrary points in space in order to dial as many possible areas across the galaxy; however, only twenty-six Astriaporta exist, two on S'net, one in each of the other, colony systems, and one on the Kal'tru flagship.  Use of special computer programs can devise the Astriaporta device for any specific star system.  Astriaporta cannot be destroyed by any known means except for complete disassembly, which is near-impossible because of the extremely intricate integrated systems in an Astriaporta.

Astriaporta are expensive to construct, but not cripplingly so.  However, the process is a very well-kept state secret.

Other technologies include standard FTL and STL drives, powered by WG jarenium, as well as crude lasers, powered, again, by WG jarenium, as well as jarenium-enhanced nuclear weaponry (the reference to "WG" is to the ability to enhance a nuclear explosion by twenty times).

the Kal'tru use standard capital ships and fighters, as one generally thinks, including frigates, carriers, battleships, and cruisers.  However, the pride of the fleet is the flagship, called the Tenksileb, which is constructed mostly of jarenium and therefore very difficult to destroy.

Kal'tru fighter craft are all designed to easily compact for travel through an Astriaporta.
