In the interests of linguistics, and since this is "Information", I thought it would be good to try to settle this here... :D
-
It's not really my place to say, but I like Taiji better than either of them. It's a little more natural-sounding.
-
Prag has proclaimed the correct spelling to be Taijituan, and as Prag has been here since the dawn of time and tends to be right on that sort of thing, I've sort of adopted it as the 'right' one. Personally, I like Taiji because it's a little friendlier and nice-sounding. Okay, okay, and it's shorter to type. Shoot me, I'm a little lazy that way.
-
I've been here since the begining as well and have always favoured taijitan. however taiji sounds lovely as well.
-
I was not aware of Taiji.
-
In our IRC room, unidentified people are dubbed "A Taiji" by default.
-
Well, I've since changed my opinion that both are acceptable adjectives. Research indicates that on the forum Taijituan and Taijitan occur at a 2:1 ratio to each other. Taiji also exists as a slangy term for a Taijitan person.
-
Taijituan. It sort of counters the flowing orientalism of this region, which I dislike. Why couldn't we be called "Georgetown" or "Williamsburg" or some other Georgian name?
-
There is not 'Both are correct' option!
I still think Both should be correct, what do you care if it's Taijitan or Taijituan, it's the same! or Taiji...
-
I didn't vote, because it honestly doesn't matter to me. I'm from a hometown that -never- gets spelled correctly by anyone living outside it. So, eh. ;)
-
Well I'm new here but from "polish language view" both forms are correct and are ok (for me and least). Where do you live? In Taijitan. And whats that ? Taijituan ship.
-
if that's a joke it's a good one

But, if both are correct, how can we have big honking arguments over it? ;)
-
I was of the opinion that Taijituan describes something of or from Taijitu. Taijitan, not so much. For anything else, I just say Taijitu. Meh, laziness.
-
Taijituan.
-
Mesdames et Messieurs,
take a look at the poll. All the T-people (Tacolicious tak Talmann and Thyatira ) are for the 'Taijituan'. If not the T-people should know better what T-aijitu-based adjectives or adverbs should look like, then who, I ask you?
-
Taijituan, FT(proverbial)W.

This is a remarkably interesting observation.
I am assuming you count The Wonderful PUR as a W or P person...

Taiji: Informal
Taijitan: Formal
The lighting fox has spoken!
Also, notice...it's the Taijitan Code of Laws.
-
And it's the Taijituan Lottery.
-
Dammit. How about we just call everyone/everything Taiji?
-
Bleh, I don't fancy that idea much.
-
OK...what about Tai? Sure, we might have to change the currency's name, but it would work.
-
I will stand behind 'Taijituan' both firmly and steadfastly, unto death. I hereby designate PUR as my beneficiary. All my Tai to you, dearest, at the time of my demise.
-
good to know, but we shall prvent that day from coming at all costs. and i shall forever stand by Taijitan as the correct form.

SPOUSAL KOMBAT!

Because, of course, "Finish Her" doesn't sound like double entendre at all.

Babe-ality?

Of course not >:D...I mean ::) O:-)
-
I've used all forms of the word at some point or another, though I tend to stick with Taiji, as it's shorter, easier, and does not insist upon itself as much as the other two. I don't think any is superior to the other though.
-
It makes sense to say Taijituan, as opposed to anything else.
Then again, taiji also is pretty cool for shorthand :P

But doesn't "Taijitan" just roll off the tongue?

Nah it doesn't :P
-
agreed.
-
Less syllables.
-
actualy when i said agreed i meant that Taijitan rolls off the tongue. taijituan just insists upon itself too much.

Exactly. It's easy to stumble while saying Taijituan; Taijitan (and Taiji) are just more pleasurable.
-
But doesn't "Taijitan" just roll off the tongue?
No, it's feels terse and forced to me.
-
its a good thing that we all know what we mean no matter the way it is said.
