National Statistics
« on: April 05, 2007, 12:58:22 AM »
I was looking at the national statistics board, and I was thoroughly amazed as to the extensiveness of each nation's respective information. I mean there are some that even have a fully written constitution. I was just wondering, how much time exactly do most people put into this. I'm sure that for a constitution you change some of the wording around from a real one, but the rest of it is still quite a large ordeal. Just wondering.

Thanks in advanced.

Well, for my format, I used the CIA world factbook.  For the information...much of it's made up, or an approximation based on budget calculators.  For writing a Constitution, the best advice I can give is that you get your format first.  People know basically what they want to say; the challenge is making it look nice.  In other words, putting everything in its proper place.

I like to put the broadest categories first, and work my way to narrower categories.

Since I have school, I add information when I can, and it builds up. I'm not sure if others do it like this.

Does it tend to pose any issues during roleplay if a recently started nation has little in the way of statistics and history?  For example, if one was to add to it gradually would it make it more difficult for other nations to know how to interact with you based on limited information?

Coming up with the sheer volume of information other nations have posted all at once before finding a niche in the RP world seems a daunting task.

I did have to come up with my entire military in one day because someone need it to roleplay.....quite a challenge...but the best thing is to build it up gradually....

Most excellent, thank you.  I shall cease "stressin' yo" about coming up with it all immediately.

I think it's convenient to use http://www.sunsetrpg.com/economystatistics.php for some good information on your nation-- it's nice and impartial :)

Well I just moved here last Friday because Talstadt invited me to go to Taijitu. It's actually better than the West Pacific. I'm making new allies and friends.
