Title: Nula, Yarın, Ev'saht
Post by: Zimmerwald on September 02, 2007, 07:48:35 AM
Aygen Cagman awoke face down, inhaling the smell of old dirty sheets.  She was lucky; some of her friends slept on straw pallets.  She could feel the plaster dust floating in the air over her bare back, and knew that if she turned around, she would see them dancing beautifully, reflecting the light where the sun shone through the holes in the ceiling.  But she didn’t turn around.  There was always the danger, this early in the morning, of some shell hitting nearby and knocking more plaster off the ceiling and into her eyes.

Aygen turned and shook Mualla Arif, one of those friends who slept on straw pallets, awake.  Mualla’s home had been destroyed in one of the all-too-frequent skirmishes between the local crime bosses and the police, and her husband had been killed in the fighting.  Her son, Suphi, lay at the other side of the apartment, tossing fitfully, still in the grip of some dark dream.

Aygen and Mualla let him lie, each shrugging on the clothes they would wear that day.  Aygen preferred utilitarian trousers and jacket, but Mualla had taken to the Ozian hijab, and one draped her head and shoulders now.  Aygen had long since given up trying to convince Mualla not to wear it.  She claimed it was her birthright: her mother had been Ozian, or so she claimed.  She wasn’t really sure.  She talked about converting to Gaenism too, but that Aygen found intolerable.

“I don’t see why you can’t accept that Gaenism is the most progressive religion there is, Aygen,” complained Mualla, stirring the pot of corn meal that would be their only breakfast.  “It’s all about unity and brotherhood, or that solidarity you’re always gabbing about.”

“But don’t you see that nobody even follows the precepts of Gaenism?  If they did, Ozia, or anywhere, for that matter, wouldn’t be exploited the way it is now.”

“You can’t blame Gaenism for that, the illumatist Xyraelis don’t practice it,” Mualla retorted, turning the heat down low.

Aygen pulled her shoe on as she smiled in apparent victory.  “But what about all the collaborators, who run the businesses in the name of the oppressors.  Don’t you think that—”

She was cut off by Suphi’s ear-splitting yawn.  The boy ran to embrace his mother as she removed the corn meal porridge from the stove and handed it to Aygen, who served.  “Let’s not talk about that now,” she said, glancing around pointedly.  “They might be listening.”  But their meal was not interrupted, and after it was over the two women went their separate ways: Mualla to her job as a seamstress, Aygen, supposedly, to her work in the quarry.  She ducked out of sight of a passing Xyraeli patrol as she turned to her real destination.

Khemat walked with a bit of a limp, shrapnel had embedded itself in his leg earlier in the week, and though the medics had stitched him up he still winced from the pain a bit. The day was going to be hot, and the people weren't much better. They sneered at him as he looked for anyone who'd be a bit friendly, life in the Home Army wasn't usually a lonely job, except for Laen'ka. Hot, humid, and the only shade was provided by shoddy market awnings and a pillar of smoke looming in the distance from a fire caused by a battle the previous night.

His comrade Jatha looked at him with a smile. "Tabemasho."

"Yoshi," Khemat grumbled, rubbing his stomach. He could use a bit of food. The men chuckled as they made their way through the streets, their fingers wrapped around their triggers in indoctrinated paranoia. Khemat noticed a girl ducking into an alleyway suspiciously, but wasn't sure if he should tell his fellows. Either they'd walk into an ambush, or it would be some silly girl doing nothing at all. But with the level of alert the garrison was on, it'd be against his orders not to investigate. Orders, he couldn't disobey an order.

"Jatha mote goran!" he pointed to the alley way.

"Nanda?" he asked, noticing the fleeting shadow and hurried footsteps of sandals slapping stone. He readied his firearm, moreso than it already was, and nodded to Khemat. They grabbed Gel'an and headed for the alley way, hurrying down it as the girl slipped around a corner.

Damn thought Aygen, seeing the three men of the patrol veer from their route and take off after her.  She'd had some close calls, but she'd never been stopped before.  She knew what to do, there were procedures for this sort of thing, but it was her bad luck that she had been seen moving away from her normal destination.  She slowed to a walk, avoiding the piles of trash on either side of the alley, knowing that it was useless to run.  It would be suspicious as well as futile; she couldn't dodge, and could be gunned down easily.

She wished she'd taken one of the pistols from the cache, as some of the others had done, but had reasoned at the time that it would look too suspicious.  Civilians weren't supposed to carry guns, and she wasn't as adept at concealment as some.  "Halt" heard Aygen, and she turned around.  She assumed an expression of quiet complacency upon noticing that these three were Home Army.  With any luck, they'd have to move on to some more important target soon.  She doubted they'd even finish an impromptu investigation.

Strelok Revia wandered on top of the dune with himself wrapped in a traditional robe of Ozia. He only had his eyes and hands showing from the covering. He carried with him two bags of Zuavka for his tribe and an IA-7 around his shoulder. Desert life had consumed his soul ever sense his family fled in the deeper regions of the desert. He always thought the southern regions were bad but when he was out in the deep Ozian desert he never imagined a place could be so bad. He saw the mountain in the distance which his tribe would call home for the next few days. They were always moving it seemed. They never stayed in one place and after so much moving he found himself being at the same place he was 5 weeks ago, or they just all started to look the same after awhile. The sand was not soft like the beaches like her remembered, this sand was dry and rough against the skin. The wind was as equal aggravating as it brought more hot air and sand into his face. When he finally reached the cave entrance he draped his Da'pa on the wall of the cave. (ooc: Da'pa is a simple weight on a piece of thick cloth that covers tracks made in sand that is dragged behind someone.) As he made way into the entrance he saw his Lae'sheil(sexual partner) walking towards him with their son. He smiled, always loving the sight of his son he asked Laerah, "Rah'lekhel pulzuh?" (Would you take these?)

She nodded to him and took his bags of Zuavka from him. He removed his cloaks and robe to remove most of the sand off it. He didn't want to look like a desert rat for tonights supper. Even though he had eaten nothing but Zuavka since he was 5 and some of the tribal members for their whole lives, the whole tribe always sat together and meditated together to Gaea for hope. His sister, Adara Revia, was named the reverend mother of the tribe and lead the tribe in the trance. He could never forget her eyes and could never forget them since her birth. His mother and father were in a cave just like the one they were in right now and he watched as the baby was born. He could never forget the eyes and the resent from his father. He wanted to discard the baby because she was an abomination but soon caught a mysterious illness after claiming her an abomination. Ever since many have thought her to be a strong spirit of Gaea instead of an abomination as what was once believed.

As they were in trance he felt a cold wind circulate around him, he shivered and it wasn't even night yet. He didn't look around to see if anyone else had felt it. Instead he accepted it and gained a sudden realization, he was tired of his Nomadic lifestyle and running from the Xyraelis... He never asked Gaea for anything but he asked her in his mind for some sort of blessing that help bring peace to him and his family. He didn't want his son to grow up in the same fate as he did.

Khemat and his two compatriots raised their rifles at the young woman, she seemed to look innocent enough but Khemat wasn't about to let some woman get the best of him today. He looked to Gel'an, signalling for him to pat her down. Gel'an strode to the woman, ignoring her willingness to cooperate, and pushed her into the wall. Using the barrel of his gun he spread her legs open, then strapped it to his back, allowing his hands free reign of her body. They searched her quite thoroughly, and in several places a bit more than necessary. After about three minutes, Gel'an turned to Khemat with a grin. "Nanimo nai "

Khemat sighed, looking at the woman with at least an ounce of pity. "Gomen nansa," he apologized, "Doko ni ikimasu ka?"

OOC: spoken words have been translated to English.

IC: Aygen had to stop herself lunging at the soldier's throat several times as his hands ranged over her body.  She gave thanks for the thickness and weight of her canvas uniform.  "Sandıklı marble quarry is worried about their drainage system.  They think it might give out.  They sent me to İscehisar quarry to inquire about replacing one of the pumps.  İscehisar's had spares for a few weeks now."  To reinforce her claim, she pulled out her ID card.  On it was stamped her place of residence, as well as her job and status as a civilian Gelibolu.

These soldiers seemed lenient, even allowing for the unwanted sexual advances.  That was common enough.  Hopefully they wouldn't ask for a pass or inquire with the quarry about her time card.

ooc: I'll translate it for ease, I can type it in Xyraeli when I want it to be clear that your people don't know what mine are talking about.

Khamet grabbed her ID card, checking over it fairly quickly. She was a registered Gaeanist Gelibolu, class C (class A being Xyraeli, class B being allowed into Xyraeli quarter). She was a worker for sure, and he asked her a bit more, noticing that she stuttered a few numbers as she gave him the number for the quarry. One number was incorrect. He paused while looking at the number inquisitively, then glanced to Jatha before calling the number into command. It took about another minute to process his request and gather the information, and by the time it was gathered Gel'an was growing a bit bored.

"Cagman, Aygen. Status is Unknown, she hasn't checked into her post yet."

Khamet turned to the woman with a frown, "Miss, your story doesn't add up, you're going to come with us for processing at the detainment center, understand?"

Mt. Ijek translated
On the plane, he sipped his Zuavka drink, it was a simple combination of water and zuavka. The appearance of it was like diluted milk and it's taste was the same, watery and dull. However he grew up with the drink ever since he was a little boy growing up with his mother. His father was killed by Xyraelis in an engagement and it was a shame that his father never saw his success. At age 63, smoking Zuavka, drinking more than he should, and having many sexual partners Ozian, Gallipoli, Xyraeli, and Moacian alike, he was still healthy. He even remembered this one woman from Odori when he was in his youth if he could remember correctly.

Dorlov Iseltov came from a long line of Ozian engineers and was the great great grandson of the famous Hashid Iseltov who invented the IA-1, a single shot rifle that finally gave some of the Ozian rebels something to fight with. He was perhaps the most successful of the Iseltovs and perhaps all of Ozia. He was declared by the Xyraelis to be a "Zaibatsu" and at the time he didn't know what it was, he just kept inventing new mechanisms and improving the weapons that his father had left to him. Despite the death of his father he seemed to have a hereditary trait of engineering and mathematics in his DNA. He learned quickly and helped design new mechanisms for the weapons of his ancestors. Gaining favor of the Xyraelis was almost like eating very sweet cake. The initial taste was good but as time went on you started to feel sick of it. He missed his homeland of Ozia and that's one of the reasons he made the research base at Mt. Ijek. The base was hidden and disguised as a simple abandoned gravel airport out in the middle of the Ozian Desert. However the only ways to get there was by walking the desert or by flight. Supplies were airdropped in when necessary and often Xyraelis from the government would come in and check on his progresses. Now he was wanting to retire but he knew that it wouldn't suit the Xyraelis, he was growing old but he was still useful and after all the long years of working he just wanted to rest with Esma, his favorite lover. He didn't care about the languages that he learned, the power, the glory, and the works. Iseltov just wanted peace and wanted to speak Ozian again instead of the languages of Xyrael and a distant people known as the Inglish. However his peace would not come until death where his spirit would return to Gaea. Unlike popular belief, he was religious and he always remembered his Ozian traditions

with his Zaibatsu his many children that several he doesn't even know the names of have special privileges including the many lovers he had. He had a daughter in particular who was very successful. She was born from his Gallipoli lover, Esma and instead of giving her an Ozian name he allowed the mother to name her. She however chose a name that was Ozian and Gallipoli acceptable, Sevda. Sevda was now 23 and still a virgin or childless, at least as much as he knew. Sevda sat across from him on the plane and when he glanced at her she asked him in Ozian, "What's wrong father?"

He shoke his head, "When are you going to get a child?"

She silently sighed, "Father, we've talked about this..."

Dorlov drained the rest of the Zuavka drink in his mouth and called the attendant to bring in some Vodka, "My Sevda, who will pass on your legacy?" He only talked about Gaea around his family, "Gaea blessed me with a daughter that knows more about engineering than I do. I truly want what's best for the family my Sevda. I grow old and the one wish I ask of you is to bear a child in the Iseltov name. All the rest of my children are dunces and your intellect is far more superior. We need the reproductions of Brilliance."

She plainly said to him, "Father..."

"What?"

"Half-Brother Neghrav's child is succeeding in the Xyraeli schools, did you forget about him?"

"No I did not and that's why when he reaches 14 I want you to take care of him at Ijeck. I don't care what your brother says, he's a drunken fool."

"Father! Why do you speak so less of your own children?"

"Because they dishonor me Sevda, perhaps if you were a mother you would understand but you dishonor me by not providing yourself an heir. I want a grandchild to embrace and make sure you will be honored by excellence."

She rolled her eyes, "I'll see if there are any compatible Da'pa.."

"You will honor me with a grand child then Sevda?"

"You're lucky mother isn't hearing this."

"Oh!?"

Their conversation was interrupted when the attendant said to them in Xyraeli, "We'll be arriving soon, please prepare for Landing."

He nodded to his daughter and they both buckled up and continued conversing. When the plane landed, the aircraft docked within the mountain's hanger which was carved into the mountain and the private jet was parked in it's rightful place. Steps were folded out from the door to exit the aircraft and the two Iseltovs walked out to see that a line of scientists in military formation awaiting to be dismissed. He said the usual phrase in Ozian, "What in Negativity's name are you doing? Get back to work!"

Aygen nodded dumbly as she was tugged down the alleyway and toward the Xyraeli Military Area.  She noticed that the soldiers kept to the wider, cleaner, more travelled streets, and though they tried to stare straight ahead, she noticed that the men keeping hold on her flinched away from the side streets and the people lining the sidewalks.  The people avoided the glance of the soldiers, and turned their heads away from Aygen, though she stared in supplication at each in turn.  One older man did not turn away, but looked straight at Aygen for the briefest second before hurrying in the opposite direction.

Seeing that she wasn't about to be either killed or rescued, Aygen simply relaxed, forcing her captors to drag her along to their destination.  Along the way, she savored the smells and sounds of the street.  It was an eyesore, but the smell of frying fish in the streetvendors' stalls, the climaxes of emotion of the passerby, and everything else to hear and smell bathed Aygen in a soothing broth of sensory experience.

She was jerked out of her reverie by being dropped on the ground.  Looking up, she could see that she was at the foot of a low, wide concrete building.  This was the barracks and HQ of the Xyraeli Home Army in Laen'ka, as they called it.  The Gelibolu called it the Tortise.  Next to it was the better constructed Marine barracks, and away in the distance Aygen could spot the hangar that held the airplanes that flew daily patrols from the airfield.  She walked, on her own, through the now-open gates to this military base, knowing she would probably never come out.

It wasn't long until Aygen was sitting in a chopper between two large men with a bag over her head. Of course, she couldn't see that these men were large, but she could feel the sizes of their bodies respective to hers, and she knew if she made a move they'd break her easily. She imagined that there were likely men across from her, but she couldn't see.

Khemat watched as the helicopter blades spun swiftly, she was going to be sent off into exile, there would be no trial, no jury, just the executioner. Sometimes people just had to disappear. He shifted his gear about, feeling his sword press against his body, when he heard an explosion rip through a building several blocks away. By the Light, what was that!? he spun around to see a fireball rising near the Xyraeli Quarter. He turned back to the chopper as it lifted away, carrying the woman over the sea, before several men barked orders to check what happened. Khemat didn't have time for questions, just time to listen to boots crunching gravel against cement.

The heavy buzz of the chopper was rining in Aygen's ears, endlessly annoying and very loud, she could feel a fresh sea breeze against what little skin was exposed on her neck. They were headed over the ocean, and she could hear two of the men shouting something about Ozians. At least they weren't killing her yet.

It took over thirty minutes, what seemed to be hours, before she noticed the helicopter was beginning to slow. She couldn't see, the blag bag still wrapped around her head, she could barely breathe... a man grabbed her shoulder. "Get up!"

She stood, and felt his large hands push her back hard. Before she could react, adrenaline was surging through her system as she felt the distinct and frightening feeling that there was nothing around her, nothing but air. How high am I... was one of a thousand thoughts that raced through her mind. Before she had time to react, her body slammed into a sand dune at a peculiar angle, breaking her right calf in a truly peculiar angle. She didn't hear much, perhaps because there wasn't anything to hear? The chopper was so distant now...

<insert neighborhood>, Laen'ka

Abaza Segem had been the one to see Aygen dragged off to the Tortise, and knew that she had been compromised.  He also knew that if she had been captured, there was precious little time for both her mission and for the Council.  He was certain she would be questioned, all her knowledge tortured out of her, all their houses raided, and all of them shot.  Suppressing his sorrow and sympathy for his protege, Abaza hurried to the site.

Aygen was supposed to have planted a time bomb on the bottom of a Xyraeli car.  They had watched this particular eccentric for days, and knew that he liked to, for whatever reason, disappear into the outer city for hours at a time.  He would be deep inside the Xyraeli quarter when the bomb went off.  For security reasons, the device itself was hidden near the site, and was not kept with any of the members.  It was this mission Abaza now hurried to complete.

He, of course, botched it.  He was only two blocks away when he heard the crash and felt the shock wave of the explosion behind him, felt it rip through the weakened wall of a building and get thrown to the ground as it came crashing down.  It was only with supreme luck that he got inside before the patrols did, in time to get pulled down to a cellar, slapped across the face and shouted/whispered to.  "What the hell was that!?

"I'll explain later, we've got to get out of here!  Patrols are sure to be here any second!"

Wordlessly, the little group, including Abaza, fled down an underground tunnel, one pausing to set another charge which would knock down the building, at a later time, of course.

Aygen came to and immediately wished she hadn't.  The searing pain in her leg was made worse by the scorching sun and sand that pressed against her skin and cooked her in her clothes.  At the same time, she wanted to and didn't want to move.  Moving would ease the burning but would hurt her leg, and at all costs she didn't want to hurt her leg.  She looked down: at least it was a closed fracture, and of the ankle at that, rather than the femur.

Worse than the pain was the fact that Aygen felt completely alone.  From the looks of things she had been tossed into the desert, though which desert she wasn't sure.  From what she could remember, she hadn't even been questioned, just hauled onto the helicopter and dumped in this wasteland.  Aygen made a small sound, then collapsed again from lack of water.  If she wasn't hydrated soon, and treated for heatstroke, she would die within hours.

Another day, another day. Strelok thought to himself as he walked across the sand dunes. The sun was right over him as he dragged his Da'pa around the deserts, searching for Zuavka. Today was very windy and his eyes were extra shut. Except he could not and would not come back empty handed, he had to gather some rations for their trip across the desert for the next day. He would go all day if he had to in the Ozian deserts, the sand was more irratating today than it had been in awhile. Almost like a salty bitter sand instead of the regular rough sand. Except to his surprise he found himself still looking out for Zuavka while the winds even blew it in his face. He almost felt like waiting for the Sandstorm to pass by and sit in his tent. However while thinking of these things he found himself with his face in the sand and lying on the sand. Did he trip on something? He put his rough hand on the cooking sand and lifted himself with ease and a little confused. When he glanced behind himself he found what intruded him, almost like a lump in the sand. The picture was hard to make out but he lifted it out of the sand. He started to hear faint coughing and realized this was a human. Quickly he took a cloth from his bag and wrapped it around the person's face, blocking the sand from interfering with her breathing. He knew he was close to cave and felt around the person to find a good place to pick the person up from. He accidentally found out that the person was a she. Brushing off the slight embarrassment he picked her up by her knees and back. He started to rush towards the mountain as the storm grew and grew. Sand was now blowing everywhere making it impossible to almost see but he managed to feel around to the place where he had to go.

Upon entering the cave he traveled into the deep areas until the sand stopped flying about inside the cave. The cave was abandoned but other Ozians had already been there and there was wood for a fire. Wood was sacred and very hard to find but he found himself lucky. However not so lucky when he saw skull and bones right next to it. He figured this used to be a Xyraeli dug out cave structure. Ignoring the origin of the lumber he set it to fire anyway. The girl was breathing slowly and he took a Xyraeli Water canteen and filled her mouth with water, when she drank it the Ozian then stuck his middle finger quickly up her mouth and tickled her back throat and took it out. The woman started to gag and threw up a nasty combination of stomach acid, mucus, sand, and water. He patted her back as she started to gag out some more. She however had unusual clothing on, not the sort of Ozian make. He noticed she had gotten vomit all over her clothing. He took his large blacket and other clothing from his bag. He took off the jacket slowly, noticing she had pain in her eyes, however there was something funny about these eyes in the light of the fire, they weren't Purple or Maroon, odd. Thankfully they weren't Navy Blue either like the Moacians.

However her eyes weren't important now, he kept carefully removing the jacket until it was off and he wondered why she was wincing. He examined her upper body checking for any irregularity. Strelok thought found the problem when he felt her shoulder, nothing irregular. He figured she was just sick of sand. Instead he laid the clothes behind her head and tried to take off as much weight as he could from her head. However this was not enough displacement, he slowly removed her trousers and the other under garments that he found foreign and slightly strange. He then found that she screamed in pain at the movement in her leg. On the naked leg he felt around irregularities and found it. Instead of applying the clothes to her head he moved them to her leg. He laid them behind her leg and wrapped her in the blanket. The girl's eyes were barely open still and he tried talking to her in Ozian, "Sev Haliev?" he tried again.. "Sevi Haliev?"

The woman instead passed out and the man gave her Gaea's wishes. He left to go find Zuavka.

When he came back he laid the three bags of Zuavka by the girl and took some out for he and the girl. "Sev Da'pashei?" he asked waving the zuavka around her nose to see if she would wake up from the strong smell.

She slightly opened her eyes and started to blink repeatedly, he noticed she was up and he said again, "Sev Da'pashei?"

She seemed a bit confused.

Aygen was certainly confused to see this strange, furtive man leaning over her, waving smouldering herbs in her face.  She caughed a couple of times as the heavy cloud of smoke entered her lungs, already abused by the sand as they were, but at the same time, she noticed that the pain in her leg had lessened.  Whether that was due to an anasthetic power of the herb or to the splint that someone, presumably this man, had bound to her ankle she wasn't sure.

"I'm alright," she said in Ozian, in answer to the man's inseccant queries.  She had only limited command of the language, but she knew enough to string a few simple sentences together.  Fortunately, at the moment, that was all she needed.  "My name is Aygen.  Where are we?  Who are you?"  As she said these words, she propped herself up on her elbows, wincing a little as her leg moved and caused her pain.  She could feel the broken ends grinding together, and realized that the man hadn't, whether due to inexperience or haste, bound it properly.  "Have you wood?" she asked, seeing and smelling a fire, knowing that two sticks of it would be needed: one to splint her leg properly, one to use as a crutch.

The Ozian was confused a bit by the accent but he comprehended some of her sentences. He said to her back in Ozian, "Why does one say they are fine when they wince? Please Lie down. Your spirit is weary and tired. Have some Zuavka, get nutrient inside the physical form. Oh yeah, I greet you...uhmmm..  Aejen.... My name is Strelok. He did however friend a few logs to her but he was confused, he had only known some survival healing but that was not his job but someone elses. He gave her the rest of the wood around the fire and placed it next to her. He wondered, I think she said wood...

He then asked her in Ozian, "Your body is without cloth, do you want my spare cloth for warmth in the night?"

"I'll lie down soon, Strelok" promised Aygen as she shifted the heavy blanket so she could work on her leg.  Quickly, as Strelok watched, she removed the cloth from under it and slid one of the shorter pieces of wood into its place.  She tore two pieces from the cloth that had been under her leg and tied the splint in place before lying back down.  Pointing at a piece of wood that she thought could bear her weight, she said "That one I need, the others you keep."

Tearing a few leaves off the Zuavka Strelok had proffered, she found herself getting drowsy again, slipping back, not into unconsciousness, but to sleep.  "The cloth would be nice," she found herself mumbling as she drifted into dreams.

Strelok sort of smiled at the naked woman at her denial of help, but finally she had asked for clothes. He carefully laid the cloths over her bare body and mused Gaea over her. He ceased to feed the fire anymore as he didn't want to waste it. It is strange being out in the wilderness with someone else... usually I'm alone.. Strelok laid down by the fire and fell asleep letting it die out.

Laen'ka (Istanbul): undisclosed location
There were five of them that slipped furtively through the tunnel, which could now never be used again.  There was Abaza, and then there were four others, men and women long absent from ordinary life, from the scrutiny of the authorities, from the consciousnesses of most others.  Each represented the District organizations in this Central Council for the Davet 'in Isciler, the Workers' Party.  Though that was a highfalutin notion to begin with.  The Party was illegal, its members were constantly hounded out and executed, its Central Council on the run...again.

Temel Kemalettin from Kirklareli ran at the head of the group, scouting the way for others, making sure they didn't trip and that any obstacles were removed.  It was to his building they were headed; Temel had bribed the manager (the owner was, of course, an absentee Xyraeli who never inspected the premises) not to notice any funny comings or goings, so the Council would be relatively safe emerging there.  And they could perhaps stay there a little while.

Rana Aras from Tekirdag had been the one to set the charges back at the other end of the tunnel, and was now periodically setting the timers on smaller such charges as she ran behind.  There would be nothing left for the Xyraelis to track, even if they managed to find the entrance amidst the rubble of the building.  The others respected her judgement in the field, as she was decisive and resolute.  She could also be tempestuous; she had been the one to slap Abaza when he broke in on the rest of the Council.

Sabite Sevim and Abaza, the former from of Edirne, the latter from Istanbul, ran at a steady pace, neither looking forward or back, trusting in the others to do their work.  Between them ran Yusuf Kemal, who represented nowhere and nothing, at least formally.  He had delegated the job of representing Istanbul to the Council to Abaza very early on, and was maintained in the Council due to the fact that he had founded the Party and organized it initially, before it was suppressed and its leadership forced underground.  His past, relationships, and connections were unknown to the other four.

They emerged into the cellar of Temel's building, walked calmly (it appeared) up the stairs and into Temel's first-floor apartment.  Before doing anything else, each armed him or herself, in case they were raided.

Temel had drawn the curtains, sending up showers of dust and plaster.  The sacrifice was worth it though.  The occupying troops hadn't been issued the sophisticated listening equipment that Xyrael was capable of manufacturing in large enough numbers to be able to spy everywhere at once.  All too often individuals had been caught because they left the window open, or some careless act such as that.  The dust caused Sabite and Yusuf to cough, emptying their lungs of the air and particulates, while the plaster burned and stung everybody's eyes, so it was difficult to get settled.  But once they had, they lost no time in beginning.

"You wanted to tell us something, Abaza?" asked Rana pointedly, recalling the incident in what now was a pile of smoking slag and rubble.  The others nodded in agreement, all their faces turning towards him.  Abaza could see the fear that was in their eyes, the constant over-stimulation of their enterprise, not even able to relax in exile.  Their body language too gave them away; they fidgeted, Temel flicking the safety on his weapon on and off, Sabite involuntarily shifting her weight every so often.  Abaza had long since begun avoiding mirrors knowing that he too bore that same haunted visage, charismatic and frightening at the same time.  He couldn't bear to look.

Casting his eyes down to the floor, Abaza murmured "Aygen Cagman was captured by the Home Army this morning, on her way to her assignment.  She didn't get to complete it.  I tried to and did not succeed, as you saw.  They have probably questioned and executed her by now, and I don't see how we can remain together, in hiding, for very much longer."  Rana, Temel, and Sabite looked shocked and saddened by the news; Yusuf seemed to withdraw deeper into himself, hiding his face in shadow so that his features couldn't be seen.  Abaza continued "Aygen was an organizer in the Silivri neighborhood, and reported to me.  She knows much, and if they question her..." he trailed off, not needing to complete his thought.  They all knew the implications: a shot in the back of the neck, or a raid in the early morning hours.

Yusuf spoke up.  This was unusual for him.  Though he was the leader and a respected person, he usually let his subordinates debate an issue through before making up his mind.  He said it helped him remain grounded in the dialectical method.  His subordinates thought it helped him to maintain control.  His speaking this early clearly meant there was nothing more to be said.  His face withdrew from its shadow looking drawn and resolute as he spoke.  "If that is true, and nothing further is to be gained by clandestine operations and organizing, then we have two options.  Either we can go even deeper into hiding, fading into obscurity, or we can declare ourselves openly.  One course presents safety, the other risk.  But they are our only choices at this time.  Do you believe we are ready?"

Each of the District Reps knew what that meant.  Yusuf wanted numbers, of organizers, of people truly committed to the struggle, of stragglers who might be drawn in by early successes.  Each rattled off a report in turn, having committed this information to memory as well as record: "fifty organizers and two hundred committed, with one thousand more prepared to join early from Edirne.  More may come, but I cannot promise."  "Two thousand organizers with ten thousand committed from Istanbul.  The city is ripe for revolt, and I can predict another thirty thousand more that will join early."  "Two hundred organizers and almost three thousand committed from Kirklareli.  It is from this province and from Tekirdag that we will draw our strength early on."  "What my comrade says is true.  We have three hundred organizers and can field eight thousand committed in Tekirdag, and the numbers are certain to mount if we can give them an early victory."

"Weapons?"

"Sufficient in the provinces, scarce in the city," reported Rana.  "The i'va'ksh are more accomidating, and many have been persuaded to look the other way, outside of the small number that have turned to us."  She meant, of course, that much of the home guard had been bribed to allow weapon systems into their areas.  It didn't take much: home guard were not well paid compared to Home Army, and many resented it.

"Then we are ready, are we not?  Let us leave this place and get to your districts.  We will each be needed.  I will go with Rana to Tekirdag, as that district seems the most promising."  A quick vote was held, and found the Council unanimous in their decision to begin.  They left the choking atmosphere of Temel's apartment behind, tipping the doorman as they went, before splitting up on the streets of Istanbul.  Some were not fated to see those streets again.

Major General Kitao Cho was argueing fiercely on the phone with one of her superiors, her attendant Lieutenant Nitta Masa sat patiently in the chair outside her officer as the decibel level continued to rise as the Shōshō continued to protest. "10 units!? 10! Are you crazy?!" she shouted at the phone, "we don't need that. You know the situation in ...you know where. Those units would best be di-- You want a crackdown?"

Masa's interest was peaked, he knew Cho had been requesting the authority to go after the terrorists for months now, and her request was finally going to be granted.

"You want me to do a crackdown with only 10 units? You're crazy! Can't you provide me with any other assista--" she paused. Masa continued to listen as she took a pen to paper, he frantic scribbling barely reaching his ears. "Are you sure? Ok." She hung up the phone, "Natta-sama, come here."

Masa snapped to his feet and rushed into the room, snapping the best salute he could. His curiousity was piqued, but he prevented his eyes from wandering to her notepad. "Hai, Shōshō!"

"Inform the Portmaster to ready several docks, IXDA has asked the Moacians for assistance. We'll be getting 25,000 Moacians, and 40,000 on standby. Also..." she paused with a little smug grin over her face, "IXDA has requisitioned us the use of the SNLF. 5,000 of them, I finally got my damned Operation! Tell General Ismâil Saban to allocate his best units to sweep the Eastern Quarter, tell him he'll have as much XGSDF as we can offer, if necessary draw reserves from the Xyraeli Quarter, got it?" she pondered a bit more. "Also, set up checkpoints on major thoroughfares between the Quarters, lockdown others, and check all cargo coming in on boats not from Xyrael proper. I'm tired of having to keep an eye on our backdoor when the rest of the region progresses downwards."

She pulled another folder, this one red, out of her desk. "Give this to the SNLF commander when he arrives, it will detail the campaign plans."

Rana and Yusuf had made their way to the eastern peninsula that constituted the Tekirdag District.  They had gone first on foot to the edge of the city, had taken a train south-east, and then by boat to their destination, the port city of Marmara Eregli.  For much of the way, they had been accompanied by Sabite, but she had remained on the boat, traveling farther north to the two large islands of Edirne District.  Here on the docks of the city, the tang of the sea overlay the industrial stenches from both Eregli and Corlu.  It was a disconcerting sensation, as was the feel of firm concrete underfoot rather than the instability of the boat.  Glancing at Yusuf as the two made their way up the dock, Rana realized that he had felt more at home on the boat.  It was a mystery why.

They were not fated to stay in Eregli long.  Though they were not stopped, due to the presence of some sympathizers in the local garrison of i'va'ksh, Yusuf had made it clear that they would begin in Corlu.  Marmara, a port city, was too easily bombarded.  The inland industrial area of Corlu was the heart of the Davet's support among the people, and it would be the hardest area for the Xyraelis to hit, with either naval fire or troop landings.  The Xyraeli regulars would have to take the same long route that they had taken to get to the city, and would probably take longer due to the logistics of the thing.  That left only the local i'va'ksh.

Rana had to admit, it sounded good, and Yusuf had been very persuasive.  She wondered what they would find in the District Council...when they got there.  It would be another train trip before they got to Corlu.

Meanwhile, a curfew was enacted on the Eastern District of Laen'ka. Operation Antei was announced as an Operation to secure safety for every citizen of Laen'ka, to reduce the stress on people's lives, with an ultimate goal to begin a complete reconstruction of destroyed property. Initially the Gallipoli welcomed the curfew, and the heightened military presence. The Gallipoli i'va'ksh was moved out of the Xyraeli District, replaced by Moacian reinforcements.

Khemat was standing on the corner with his comrades, watching the Gallipoli patrolling the streets while the natives returned to their homes. Slowly people wouldn't be allowed to leave their homes, food would be distributed freely, and bills would be lifted. Khemat wished he could have the same luxury as the locals, a free week long vacation at home. Personally, he was looking forward to action, he was willing to bet the terrorists would seek to take action, especially while SNLF rounded up suspected criminals.

Khemat had always wanted to see the SNLF in action, they were trained in practically everything, helicopter landings, beach assaults, air drops, even special ops and counter terrorism. He ran his fingers along his rifle with a smile, his father would be proud if he could see how he honoured his name. Dust filled the air, and an eerie calm settled over the city quarter.

Eastern District, Laen'ka
Mualla (remember her from the first post?) muttered to herself, moving her lips in the smallest amount possible, so that no one watching could see or hear.  Her mutterings chiefly concerned the new curfew, and as she puttered to Aygen's apartment, her temporary home, she found she could not stop grumbling.  There was no real reason for it; illegal activity hadn't been on the rise, and unless the Illuminists were planning a major crackdown...

Something made her quicken her pace, so that she was practically running by the time she had reached the apartment.  Panting, coughing in the dust-filled atmosphere, she regained her composure before opening the door.  Inside, she found only Suphi.  Aygen, who usually arrived home before her, was absent.  Puzzled, Mualla questioned her son as to Aygen's whereabouts.

"Did you see Aunt Aygen come in earlier, Suphi?"

"No, Mama."

"She didn't pop in and then leave for some reason?"  repeated Mualla, her voice quickening as her heart began racing.

"No.  I haven't seen her since she left with you this morning.  Are you worried, Mama?"

Mualla turned away from her son.  Yes, she was worried; she had warned Aygen against getting involved with that man...what was his name?  Ezra?  Aram?  It didn't matter.  Either Aygen was on some dangerous assignment for him, or she had been captured by the Illuminists.  And then there was this curfew to think of.  Had they questioned Aygen, found out some secret plan?

Mualla turned back, her face a pleasant mask of reassurance as she enfolded her son in her arms.  "No, I'm sure she's out somewhere," she said, keeping the strain out of her voice.  Tomorrow she would seek the man out, demand answers.

Tekirdag District, Corlu
"They are alert to our plans, Yusuf." observed Rana, looking up from her broadsheet.  "What now?"

"We move as we planned, of course, Rana," replied the man, unconcerned.  "Even these new troops they've got in Istanbul will be useless, since we won't be rising there.  By the time they get here, we'll be in control of the city, if not the District."

"if you say so," muttered Rana, doubt permeating her tones.  "When are the District Organizers set to arrive again?"

"You know yourself, you summoned them."

"I just wanted to know how much time it would take!" she snapped.  "There's no clock in this hellhole, and you've got the only watch."  Rana was flushing as her voice rose in volume and pitch.

"Don't take your fear out on me," replied Yusuf, unshakable as ever.

Khemat cowered behind cover, praying to the Light as he could hear the swoosh of bullets flying just inches away from his face. Both of his comrades were likewise pinned down in an alleyway, firing off shots whenever they could at a building which had become tantamount to a fortress, filled with a large number of insurrectionists. They were setting a machine gun up in the window when Jatha fired a lucky shot, clipping on of the terrorists in the throat. He slumped over onto the gun, and both toppled out of the window. Their comrades opened fire on Jatha, a bullet ripping into his calf. He screamed in pain, falling back into the alleyway, and Khemat started firing on the building. He was wasting ammunition, he didn't have much left. They'd called for backup, but the Gallipoli legionnaires had been called to another assault. Only three teams of Gallipoli were with him, desperately trying to prevent the terrorists from breaking out of the building.

He fired several more shots before ducking back behind the cement barrier, a bullet slapping the concrete as he ducked. "Jatha! Daijoobu desu ka?" he shouted across the small distance. Gel'an was trying to cut off the blood flow to his wound, but it wasn't working. The bullet had taken a sizeable chunk of muscle with it. Khemat looked back to the door of the building, watching several men greedily looking upon the gun their comrade had taken with him in his flight from the third floor. He took his rifle and opened fire, the cowardly bastards hiding behind the walls. He'd never be able to hold them off.

He was considering how much ammunition he had and wasn't focused on his surroundings when a helicopter approached the building, several men gliding down four ropes, twenty in total. His eyesbrows raised, wondering what was happening, while the helicopter raced away, and several silent moments passed before extremely intense gunfire echoed throughout the courtyard. The Gallipoli Legionnaires watched with him, commenting to each other with a grin. A massive explosion ripped out a wall, several men flying out with the rubble, and another flash grenade burst in an adjacent room, followed by more incessant gunfire. A man two room to the right stood by the window, Khemat could tell he was in panick, and he struggled to climb out the window, hoping the three floor drop would take him to safety. Khemat steadied his rifle, tightened his finger, and assured the man wouldn't be going far after his limp body hit the ground. More gunfire raged as the twenty men worked their way down the stairs. Khemat noticed several terrorists were gathering at the door, they were going to run for it.

He signalled to the Gallipoli Legionnaires, pointing to the door, and they readied their rifles. The gunfire proceeded down the stairs like an unstoppable wave that was attempting to flush the filth out of a toilet, and like the shit they were the men poured forth into a storm of lead that cut through their bodies mercilessly. Many men attempted to flee the front door, all were cut down before firing anymore than five shots. In less then six minutes the twenty men had finished clearing the building, with about thirty prisoners, some civilians others terrorists. All were to be taken into custody until it could be decided who was which. Khemat looked to Jatha, now being tended to by a medic from the helicopter-borne team. His wound was bad, and Khemat wondered if his comrade would be sent home. He sighed, watching the blood of terrorists run through the dusty floor of the plaza.

Major General Kitao overlooked the initial reports of the first day with a bit of surprise. Apparently the various resistance movements within Laen'ka had chosen to fight and not hide. Nearly a thirty casualties, including four deaths, in the first day alone. She sighed, at least this campaign wouldn't take as long as she had expected, but the downside was that more civilians would be put in the line of fire. It'd take approximately two weeks to clean up each sector in turn, considering the terrorists were fighting and not fleeing between quarters. She, however, mostly ignored reports from outlying provinces about increasing suspicious activities reported by Gallipoli Legionnaires, she'd have time to deal with small fry's once she had the capital comletely secure.

The main fighting was still twenty blocks away from her building, but Mualla was well aware the risk she was taking, ducking and weaving through the streets, wincing as shells and charges delivered their reports.  Sometimes she stopped to brush off all the tiny shards of glass, concrete and plaster that stuck to her hijab and sometimes her skin.  They left long runs in the cloth as their sharp edges strained the warp, and both her face and hands were soon covered in tiny scratches.  They did not bleed, but they stung mightily.  Mualla only avoiding scratching the places with a great effort of will, and kept moving.

The streets were thronged with people.  For reasons known best to themselves, the Illuminists had ordered a general work holiday for the city of Istanbul on this day.  Maybe they hadn't wanted a strike to go along with the now apparant armed rebellion, maybe they wanted all the Gelibolu in their quarter of the city, where they were easily penned in and massacred.  Whatever the reason, Mualla needed no pass that day, but instead had to circumvent a different obstacle: the crowds of confused, demoralized people who had, seeing the buildings were unsafe, and would probably be occupied as the fighters were inevitably pushed back, had poured into the street.  They naturally fled away from the fighting, towards the south, towards the outskirts of the city.  Mualla knew Abaza, for she had remembered his name, would probably be nearer the front, and was trying to make her way there.

One particular fat, brutish-looking man shoved Mualla hard into the street, where she was at the mercy of the crowd.  He spat on her.  He was obviously an illuminist, and had thought her Ozian because of her garb and actions.  Mualla's arm was stepped on; she wrenched it out of the stampede of feet and levered herself up on her good arm.  She was only bruised, but at this rate, between the ever heavier shrapnel and the intentions of the crowd, Mualla began to despair of making it to her destination.

And yet, suddenly, there she was.  Three blocks away from the main fighting, she spied Abaza in the bottom floor of one of the buildings.  Recalling her normal life before Aygen's disappearance, Mualla remembered that this building had housed part of the telephone switchboard network for the Gelibolu quarter of the city.  Abaza, his I-19 (Mualla didn't know the make of the weapon, but that's what it was) lying by his side, was frantically shouting into three lines at once, and getting more aggrivated by the second.  Mualla decided this was no time for politeness: for him, at any rate, it was war.  She barged into the building, and demanded to speak to him.

Despite his limited resources and manpower, Abaza knew he had to take some sort of action to keep the Xyraelis focused on Laen'ka for as long as possible.  He had had no inkling of the forces raised against him.  Yes, most of the i'va'ksh was stationed here, and the Army, and the Marines, but there was no reckoning for the sheer weight of numbers of the Moacians, or for the skills of the SNLF.  Positions he had expected to hold for three days had to be abandoned within hours, and now his forces had almost been pushed back to his "headquarters."

From the front, the fighters had first reported complete shock.  Their positions had been assaulted by paradropped troops, and they had been attacked from behind while expecting their foe first on the first floor.  That would be the SNLF.  They had been trapped between this elite and the surging numbers of the regulars; Abaza was suppressing the memory of their screams.  The fighters in one building had detonated all their ammunition when cornered and blown out the side of their building, killing many, including themselves.  Their screams were haunting.

As the Dinat forces were pushed back, they began holding tighter, but not nearly tightly enough.  The Xyraelis had made good use of the paratroops in the first assault, and were not stupid enough to try it twice.  They made more use of other tactics, preferring to demolish the buildings rather than clear fighters out room by room.  When they tried this, they were only moderately successful, and were becomming less so as time went on.  But they could keep this up for days, and Abaza knew he'd have to withdraw before that.

All in all, he estimated, he had less than eleven thousand troops fit to fight, and the Xyraelis might have over sixty thousand, of varying quality.  Now was not the time for last stands.  He told all but a token force of two thousand in the first untaken lines of buildings to retreat back into the city, and to mix with civilians if possible.  He would do so himself also, until another opportunity presented itself.  He hung up the phones so they win this round...

"I want to speak to you," said a voice behind Abaza.

"About what?  I'm in a hurry."

"It's about Aygen Cagman.  And we can talk on the run if we have to."

Abaza was about to retort, and thought better of it.  He grabbed the woman, who hadn't introduced herself, by the arm, and ran to follow the crowd, along with many of Abaza's followers.

The meeting of the Tekirdag organizers had taken too long.  Hours had been wasted in fruitless bickering, wasting the time that Abaza was giving them.  Rana had brought this point up several times to the all-too-timid Tekirdag organizers, and they had come around in the end, but it might be too late.  There was no way of knowing.  In one respect the organizers had proved a help rather than a hindrance: around 135 i'va'ksh had been convinced to back the revolt in Corlu, in addition to the three hundred or so fighters the township organizer could promise.  Besides the fighters, there would be a general strike of the city.  Everyone agreed on this step, especially as the inhabitants of the industrial city had experienced increasing hardship over the years, and were ready to do something.  Maybe not fight, but strike...that they would do.

So it began.  The strike began first, as a way to test the i'va'ksh.  The machinery of the factories stopped, people poured into the streets.  As yet, the Divat fighters or the turned i'va'ksh did not fire a shot.

Quote
Declaration of the Corlu General Strike, and for the Independence of Gelibolu
The Davet 'in Isciler

The Davet 'in Isciler, organizer and representative of the people of Gelibolu, wishes to take this opportunity to explain the grievences that this people has developed against the Xyraeli imperial administration.  This document is not meant to be a petition to the Xyraelis to change their methods, for any such consessions may be all too easily rescinded.  It is a statement of how they have failed, and how they always will fail, to satisfy the needs of the people of this country, and why this country must forge its own way in the region.  Nor is it a document preaching racial or religious hatred, for this is not a national or regligious revolt, though there are certainly elements of national and religious oppression present in the Xyraeli imperial system.  As shown by its beginning in the industrial town of Corlu, this strike and revolt is of the isciler, of the masses of workers finally tired of all they have been put through.

The abuses of the Xyraeli imperial administration have been many and varied, and only a few of their offenses are enumerated below.  These offenses are simply the most egregious of the lot, as any comprehensive list would stretch longer than the kilometers of roadway in Istanbul.  The paper it would be printed on would sink any ship out of Marmara Eregli.  The mills of Corlu would wear out their presses printing such a list.  Their abuses include:

  • A plundering of the land, meant to serve their own economy and with the natural consequence of depriving eight million people of the resources of their land, and of the products of their hands;
  • Profiteering at the expense of the workers, which has led to unsafe workplaces in which many are killed each year;
  • Restrictions on freedom of movement by means of ID cards, curfews, and military checkpoints;
  • Restrictions on privacy by similar means;
  • Suppression of native political parties, including the Davet 'in Isciler, with the object of taming the people politically to the wiles of the Xyraeli imperial family;
  • Active State support for the Illuminist religion, and punishment for outspoken proponents of other religions;
  • And finally, an unwarrented military assault on the people of Istanbul, causing many deaths and the wanton destruction of people's homes and livelyhoods.

It is in protest of these abuses that the Davet 'in Isciler has called this general strike in Corlu, and that the people of Corlu have responded.  The strike will not end until our demands, for full and complete independence from the Empire of Xyrael, and the recognition of our independence by the family of nations, have been met.  For this moment the people of this city and the Davet representing them do not take recourse to armed violence, but we stand ever vigilant to defend ourselves if threatened.

We encourage other Districts, towns, and cities of Gelibolu to follow the example of the people of Corlu, and call on them to join us in our struggle for a democratic, Councilist republic, the highest principle of which shall be: from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

OOC: thought you might like to see something like this.

Swangrad, Eastern County Traval, Myroria

Swangrad, one of the few Pelagian cities left in Myroria, had a red-letter day. The mostly Hanso-controlled town was talking among themselves - the tent merchants selling everything from fries to fine perfume on the streets were talking to each other about how the Town Guard had been called to hold a ship, emblazoned with the emblem of Great House Vrotrith and supposedly holding the taxidermied body of Rolf Vrotrith.

"We've got a search warrant. The Court of County Traval, Eastern Parish, has probable cause to think you are smuggling arms and seditious material out of the country."

"We're just moving some products by sea to our recently-built headquarters in Novrith. We have nothing to hide." Erwin Vrotrith, the new Head Comrade of Great House Vrotrith, winced as the last sentence in his defense left his mouth.

"We're loyal Myrorian subjects."

Some soldiers chuckled while others took offense, pushing Vrotrith and his deckhands out of the way to search the hold of the merchant marine. The search ended within three quarters of an hour.

"It's just money. Guessing by how poor you filth are, probably your entire treasury." said the Major. He and his soldiers left the ship, going back to the barracks. The ship left without incident.

Erwin Vrotrith eyed the inexpensive instruments in his ship - the MMM (Myrorian Merchant Marine) Peaceful Anarchy, carefully. A green dot appeared closer and closer. The eyes of Rolf Vrotrith appeared to be interested, even if they lost all possible interest in anything when his head hit the car dashboard months ago. The scar on his head was covered by a wig that was made to make his hair look longer than it was in life.

Now the green dot was visible as another ship, the silver and gold shield of Great House Hanso painted, albeit sloppily, on the tower of the MMM Individuality. The two ships slid to a stop, a gangplank connecting the two. Here, far from shore, the money on the smaller Peaceful Anarchy was transferred to the Individuality. But Hanso wasn't committing piracy. For when Erwin Vrotrith stepped upon this ship of Great House Hanso, he was greeted by his comrades, who were carrying the real cargo onboard the ship - a hold full of weapons.

ooc: id write more but i feel really sick right now so i can't, i'll do more later but i got class cya

Hotashi Taeko felt like laughing at the absurd document he held in his hands. These people honestly wanted to be treated as equals. The general strike the organization was calling for throughout the colony was barely noticeable due to the work holiday, and to the outside world it wouldn't be noticeable until the 'holiday' ended. He needed a continuance... the SNLF was achieving great success within Istanbul, but Corlu was becoming the focal point of revolutionary thought. It had to be suppressed. General Kitao had already ordered the local i'va'ksh to establish a barrier around the city. The government could allow the thoughts to fester, it would keep the soldiers out of harms way until Istanbul was clean of terrorists.

Initial reports from Istanbul were showing enormous success. Attacks on Xyraeli civilians in the Xyraeli quarter were down by 80%, and the state media was reporting fleeing resistance fighters, communist, anarchist, marxist, nationalist alike. No group in Istanbul seemed more powerful than any other, and all seemed to be struggling to cope with seemingly random tactical SNLF strikes.

Hotashi Taeko, as governor of the colony, realized there was a problem within the success. People were going to feel displaced and alienated if this continued for much longer. He needed to initiate some sort of public relations campaign, but he also needed to think of a measure to keep terrorists from coming back into areas that had been cleansed. He needed to re-issue ID cards, no major changes just something very subtle to identify a difference between checked residents and suspicious ones. Something so subtle the terrorists would spend several days or weeks trying to unravel, giving the counter-terrorists time enough to continue diminishing their power. As for public relations, he needed time to delay public unrest, and he set himself to the task of announcing a slightly longer, and colony-wide holiday. Only Gallipoli farmers would be asked to work, and none would be asked to pay taxes, bills or rent for the duration of the holiday. Taeko knew the Emperor would be very dissatisfied with this.

The ramifications of the extension of the Xyraeli work holiday to the entire colony were immense.  In the quieter districts, it had little effect besides maintaining the status quo.  Which, of course, was its object.  But in Corlu, the paradgim had shifted.  Everyone had expected a violent response with overwhelming force arriving from Istanbul.  Failing that, everyone was sure the i'va'ksh would descend upon the city in a bloody frenzy.  But this behavior amounted, in the eyes of many (in this city), to a concession.  And the Davet's propaganda continued to emphasize this.

Thus, in the absence of violent retaliation, in Corlu a new State was being built.  The presence of i'va'ksh on the perimeter of the city hadn't prevented the Davet from organizing their hastily gathered bands into a proper army, with an additional hundred and fifty volunteers (for a total of about 450, not counting turned i'va'ksh, who have so far remained with their units).  Others took advantage of the holiday to become more acquainted with the new party in power, some for the first time.  In Corlu, at least, the policy was playing right into the revolutionists' hands.

And yet there was no way for these thoughts to spread to the District.  All the local organizers remained bottled up in Corlu.  They were doing vital work, but the other municipal branches were languishing, and support for the strike was drying up as the necessity for it seemed to diminish in the outer cities.  Something would have to happen soon, or the new government in Corlu would remain isolated and impotent, soon to be turned upon and crushed.

Istanbul
"Who are you?"

Abaza and Mualla had fled with most of the fighters into the deepest slums of Istanbul.  These were the areas farthest from the prosperous waterfront, the areas protected by the military, the areas now being secured.  This part of the city stank like the sewer it had been allowed to become, but it was not considered particularly valuable, and was not yet under attack.  They could talk here.

"My name is Mualla.  Do you know what happened to her?"

They both knew who Mualla meant.  Abaza's conscience was heavy with guilt, he shook his head mournfully.

"I saw her being led away, into the tortise.  I don't know what they did with her."

Mualla looked at the floor of the tenement in which they had taken refuge.  All around them fighters were preparing to defend the building, making a dreadful clatter and bang in the process of doing so.  For them, this was the place to make a last stand.  Worthless as it was, there could be no possible retreat; they were cut off.  But for Mualla, the noise seemed muted, the colors blured, the smells strangely more pronounced by grief.  Suddenly, she remembered something, something important, something she never should have let herself forget.  She had left Suphi.

Another part of Istanbul
Suphi had not remained in his home.  Hearing the sounds of fighting and the roars and shreiks of the crowd, he knew he could not stay in his home and live.  It would be hit by a shell, or occupied by someone sooner or later.  At first, paradoxically, he was paralyzed by this knowledge.  But as the crowd noises died away and the more grotesque sounds of warfare drew ever closer, it galvanized him.  He left the building, ran to the street.

What he saw appaled him.  There were few non-combatants in the streets anymore, almost all of them having fled.  He, Suphi, was stuck in the middle of the two armies, and, not knowing where to go, ran towards the place he had always known shells would never fall.  He ran towards the Xyraeli side of the line.  Suddenly, he was staring into the face of an exhausted-looking man with streaks of soot blanketing his pale moon-face.

somewhere on the coast, Edirne District
Sabite stared out to sea, hearing the choppy waves of the Aegean Sea batter themselves against the coast.  Two days ago she had been approached with a curious message: if she wanted to strike a blow for her cause, she would meet someone on this spot to discuss an exchange of mutual benefit.  Those, the messenger said, were the exact words he had been told to repeat.  She had paid his fee and he went away again, leaving her harassed as ever.  The work holiday had created a major obsticle for her organizing of the strike in this District.  Everything had to be done to distract the Xyraelis from the cockpit in Corlu, and from what she could tell, Abaza wasn't doing too well.

Abandoning everything else, her mind focused more and more on the curious message.  Who would want to help her and the Davet?  Of course, there were powers interested in the downfall of Xyrael, but none of them would be so short-sighted as to back a group dedicated to world revolution.  Would they?  And yet, the message had a ring of artificiality about it, as if it were deliberately worded to sound more impressive, more mysterious, as if the speaker had aspirations to superiority as well as an inferiority complex.  Myrorian.

The dry land breeze flew out of the east, blowing her long black hair out of its bounds and across her face.  Slowly, slowly, Sabite began to discern a crunching noise, as of shingle beneath boots.  Her contact was coming closer.

The middle of nowhere
Aygen woke before Strelok, and noticed immediately her throbbing ankle.  A throb, however, was better than the aching knives that had lanced through it yesterday.  She tried to sit up, failed, and ended up with a bumped head for her trouble.  She noticed that Strelok had let the fire go out, that he was sleeping, snoring loudly, on the other side of the fireplace.

Aygen was powerless to direct her course and she knew it.  She was in a strange country, with strange people, with no physical capacity to act for herself, at least for a while, and with no goal even if she did have the power to reach it.  She would have to let herself be taken along with the current, much as that conclusion rankled.  Aygen felt around her for the broad shaft of wood Strelock had brought her, unburnt, from the wood pile.  Gripping it firmly, she levered herself up, groaning as she did so, and was able to take a few hobbling steps using it as a crutch.  As she was getting acclimated to this new way of walking, she heard Strelok wake up.

When Aygen looked back to Strelok his I-19 wasn't pointed towards her but close to her. He let out a few bursts of bullets towards her and when she turned around there was another gun pointed at her but then it soon collapsed to the ground. The body was a man in similar attire to Strelok but the eyes were much different, black. Strelok took his weapon and then went to Aygen. To him, she started to mutter her trauma in native tongue but he grabbed her anyway and lifted her from the ground she was standing on. He took her to the interior part of cave and set her against the wall, and signaled her to stay put. He handed the gun to her that he picked up, and after he switched clips on his own weapon he vanished back to where they came from and where the mysterious desert man was shot.

5 minutes, 8 yells, and numerous gunshots later, Strelok walked back into the room putting a sword back in its scabbard. She had her weapon pointed at him but then she lowered it when she saw who it was. He tried communicating to her what they were about to do while saying in Ozian, "Walk to home."

The Ozian propped her up and then supported her as they walked out of the cave. Outside the sun was blazing down on the endless sight of sand. Also there were other dead bodies around the entrance. It seemed that Aygen was still crying but Strelok kept shushing her. He was quick in pace, almost ignorant of her pain as they walked the desert. By nightfall they reached another cave like mountain, but smaller and there were fires lit up from it. Strelok Called out, "Neh'Vali!"

They kept walking towards the mountain and a few heads popped out of the cave to see them. The heads then recognized him and helped them both in. They sat by the fire and Aygen was allowed a place against the cave wall.

Adara was escorted in and she hugged her brother, "Brother, where have you been? We were worried that the sands took you."

Strelok assured her, "It was not sands I was worried about, this woman, she is of the Laen'zhi, She has not harmed me but she is harmed, she came from the sky by cloth. What she came from looked like an Iseltov but I wasn't sure. You might want to look at it. I meditate to Gaea about her purpose to us but it is vague. Perhaps sister, since you're closer to her than I you should ask her purpose."

She simply replied, "The Divine one has already whispered."

Adara was escorted to the woman where she sat next to her and she touched her face to get a sense of her face. Adara however artificially spoke in Aygen's tongue, "What is your name?"

When Aygen turned around and saw Strelok pointing his weapon in her direction, she had overbalanced and fell.  Fortunately, she had fallen on her unbroken leg, but she was still battered, and very afraid.  Not of danger, she was accustomed to that, but of the fact that she was completely dependent on a man who, in her eyes, had just tried to kill her.  She heard a thump behind her, rolled over and was relieved to find that Strelok had been firing not at her, but at some unknown assailant.  who could possibly have tracked me here? she wondered as Strelok jerked the gun out of the corpse's hands and handed it to her.  She took it, checked the clip (it was full) and clambered up again.  Strelok had gone, seemingly, to see if there were any more about.  She'd guard the cave.

No one else appeared and Aygen could hear short bursts of gunfire some distance away, muffled by the sands.  After a time, she heard someone walking towards her, and raised the gun she had been given, but lowered it when she found it was Strelok.  She began to tear up in spite of herself when Strelok told her she'd be going to his home.  Maybe there would be other people, maybe she'd get out of this alive.

Strelok set a grueling pace across the desert sands, so that Aygen, in her weakened state, could barely keep up.  Her improvised crutch sunk into the sand, not providing much support, and Strelok eventually took her arm, placed it over his shoulders, and half-carried her along.  The sight of the cave was welcome to Aygen, almost as welcome as being able to sit down.

She tried to follow the conversation from her seat, supported against the wall, but it was entirely in rapid Ozian and difficult to follow.  She recognized the word "brother" from the woman Strelok was talking to, but the rest of her sentence was too rapid.  Judging from Strelok's body language and gestures, he was telling the woman what, who, he had found out in the desert.  He looked troubled by the end, and Aygen heard the word "Gaea".  Aygen completely understood the woman's response, but was at a loss as to what it meant.

Aygen noticed that the woman was walking over to her, in a walk that seemed slightly cautious, careful.  She felt the woman's touch on her face, gentle but probing, with callouses that scraped.  She heard words from her own tongue and answered them readily.  "My name is Aygen."

It wasn't wise to volunteer more information, as Strelok had probably given this woman much, and asking questions would be impertinent.  It didn't matter, the woman looked like a wellspring of questions.

Adara smiled, her purple eyes that possessed no pupil gazed at Aygen and she said to her in her language, "Aygen, welcome to our tribe, My name is Adara, I learned your language when I was younger so I might be limited. My brother told me of where you came. You indeed seem to come from the friendly provinces of Laen'ka. I am confirming something, what encountered at the cave is our Brutal neighbors to the west, the Moacians. I feared that they would cross the borders soon. Not even the mighty Xyraelis can separate them from us. Do you wish for some real clothing? I'll send one of the girls to go fetch you some, you will not survive with the clothes you bear, they do not breathe. Gaea has blessed you, Aygen. Though I can not see, I can hear her whispers. Your face is tattered and scarred but I also felt your spirit as well as your physical form. Your Spirit is strong and smooth. The process of bringing physical bodies for Gaea to fill spirit is soon. Gaea would be pleased if you gave her offspring."

Following the marriage of the Emperor and of the new Emperess, life in Mor'os seemed to have fallen into a slump. The most fantastic moment was passed, and the public psyche was that nothing in the near future or the distant future for that matter could possibly top this matter. Not even the birth of an heir, which everyone did await with some degree of obligatory expectation. But life had to go on, just as it always had, and the people continued to live regardless. For the government it was no different. The ministries and their staff dutifully shuffled their papers and performed their assigned mundane tasks. In the higher echelons of the government, business was also being conducted. But there was something distinctly more exciting about what was being discussed in the Prime Minister's office than the sum budget report of the Domlēn Region. Happenings were afoot across the continent, and they had caught the attention of the Empire.

His eyes staring out the window at nothing in particular, Lelpak Chasmor spoke. "Things seem to be approaching a critical point. If we are to act we have to do so now. Hesitation would undo anything we stand to gain." He had been watching the reports from the Foreign Ministry on the events in distant Xyrael with a keen interest. It was the first major continental matter which had arisen since he had been elected, and he did not intend to fumble it. In his mind the expansion and restoration of Mor'os to its former glory was paramount; the opportunity to weaken and eliminate one of the obstacles too that goal was not to be passed on.

"But we can't support any separatists in Xyrael!" was the urgent and anger tinged reply of Imperial Inspector Delmar Shausil. Quite clearly, he was not keen on whatever idea Chasmor had concocted. "Are you out of your mind? We've had enough troubles with Wa recently. We don't want to encourage them by fueling this sort of thing elsewhere. These people...they are not different than the Ratwagun. Base, common terrorists. We cannot afford to send a mixed message to Wa or to anyone."

Chasmor responded with a sincerely puzzled stare. Seeing it, Shausil immediately found himself feeling patronized. "Terrorist is a relative term. I'd have thought you of all people understood this. Xyrael's terrorists are our freedom fighters. If we can split Xyrael we stand to position the Empire as the new dominant political entity on the continent. This is a Heaven sent opportunity and we would be fools to let is slip between our fingers." He paused a moment before continuing. "Besides, it's not as if their situation is comparable to the Wa's. We treat them perfectly fine, just look at their Assembly."

Shausil inhaled in a frustrated manner. "Yes, that's all good and true if you really insist. But we can't risk some sort of outright war. The military has only been redeveloped so much. For now, we must bide our time and continue to build ourselves up so that we will be able to take full advantage of any future opportunities."

"Even given ten thousand years you would still say that. I have already told you, if we do no act now we will regret it. Direct confrontation is not necessary at all."

Going for broke, Shausil threw his hands wildly into the air. "Then what can we do? We don't have some sort of infinite well of money and arms we can send to these people. And even then, the Xyraelis would not be so stupid as to be unable to trace it back to the source."

"The right force in precisely the right place at the right time is all that is necessary." As Chasmor spoke, Shausil again was given the impression that he Prime Minsiter was looking down on him. "Matters stand at a perfect balance. All we have to do is give it the slightest nudge in the right direction...and that'll be it."

"This isn't like you at all Lelpak. Surely his Divinity wouldn't even consider this. You're not out to get yourself booted from the Shinchizung and Prime Minister's office are you?"

"Delmar, I've already spoken with his Divinity. And I would not be lying if I were to tell you that he's interested in my proposal." Prime Minster Chasmor allowed himself a smile as he pondered a certain ironic point. "I think that maybe you should be more worried about your job as Imperial Inspector is this is how you feel. His Divinity does not tolerate disobedience or any lack of discipline within the Shinchizung's ranks. Though, I assume you know that judging on your concerns for my own post."

Shausil looked down, defeated. If the Emperor was against his side and Chasmor was with him then there was little chance that he could change his mind. For the moment he would have to simply grin and bear it. How many times had this happened? Shausil was beginning to feel as if Chasmor and the Emperor did not consider his opinions valid anymore. Shausil contemplated a future in which he was doomed to grin and bear it perpetually. Chasmor meanwhile went straight on talking.

"In fact, we've already spoken with the BII. Unless they do something incredibly stupid we'll be seeing results shortly."

Aygen sat through Adara's speech in silence, biting her upper lip as she sometimes did when deep in thought.  She had no doubt in her mind that Adara was a person of consequense here, particularly given her admitted affinity with Gaea.  To displease her would be an act of suicide, to offend her would be worse.  Aygen hated to appear sycophantic or servile, but if that was required here, so be it.  "Adara," she began, "first let me thank you for, and accept, your offer of proper clothing.  I fear you are right about Moacian incursions on your territory; they could not have been Laen'kan or Ozian."  Here Aygen paused.  Adara might have been self-deprecating about her mastery of Gelibolu, but her speech on this next point had been clear and sure.  Aygen was confused as to her exact meaning, but she knew this much: do your utmost to please Gaea, in all situations, at all times, if you want to remain in the good graces of an Ozian.  "I thank Gaea for this blessing, and you for relating it to me.  I would do what Gaea demands of me," she said, keeping her words vague but committal.

(OOC: if she knows some Ozian Culture she would know that Ceclastia is the day that a female ozian and a male ozian 'merge spirits' to produce life and then they have the month of Dieranotia in which the babies are born and Gaea's Spirit enters them.)

Adara smiled happily now and said to Strelok in Ozian, "Brother! You will merge spirits with Aygen on Ceclastia, Gaea has whispered!"

Strelok was confused, "But what of my desert flower?"

she replied to her brother, "If you deny this Gaea's fury will destroy the flower."

he bowed to her even though she was blind, "Yes Reverend Mother"

The others in the room calmed down from the excitement and continued to sharpen swords, eat zuavka, dance, or chat amongst themselves.

Adara then turned to her escort, "Please take me outside and once you do, don't come back until the fires have died down. Then once you do this get clothes for Aygen, take something of mine if you like."

"I don't use a motorcade because I don't get myself worked up about assassination. If I die, I die. It's my time to go. I'd rather die a hero to the people than a miserable old man." Meneldur's phone rang. Over the woosh of air in his Mercedes convertable, he picked it up.

"Yeh-go. It did? And?"

"I'll be down as soon as possible." Meneldur told his chauffer to turn to Novrith.

"I feel like we're doing a drop-off. How spy movie is this?"

"Yeah, real spy movie. Except we're in olive drab instead of tailored suits, and we're dropping off a wheelbarrow full of G-36s and machine guns instead of fancy gadgets."

"Shut up, the both of you." said Erwin Vrotrith.

"We don't know if there's Myrorians in this waterfront property, and they could report back to Hanso or Quarrovth's overseas embassy. We don't want to attract attention to ourselves."

"And walking around in olive T-shirts and boat shorts, pushing a wheelbarrow full of weapons won't attract attention to ourselves?"

"I said shut up. We can only pray that they're not gonna search the ship when it gets home."

"Look! There's someone up ahead!"

"Get in the woods back there, the both of you. Hand me a pistol."

"Sire!" said a soldier, saluting to his Empeurer.

"At ease. So, what did you find? I didn't ride for three hours for nothing."

"Sire, nothing. That's exactly it. When it left port, it was full of money."

Meneldur's eyebrows raised. He would have said "call me Meneldur" - he couldn't stand all this formality - but he neglected it.

"Money? I didn't know they had money. Lower the gangplank."

"Lower the gangplank!" the soldier yelled to someone on board. It fell with a clack onto the dock. Meneldur emerged on deck a few minutes later.

"Take the captain in for questioning. It's not illegal to transport money, obviously, but when the money is in the hands of people willing to start revolutions, they could be a threat to international relations. This is all more than a bit weird." Meneldur got into his convertable. Erwin's worst fears had been confirmed.

Taking care not to wake his mother, father or sister, Lhouzhī Akta rose from his bed just as the morning sun's first rays were peeking across the horizon. The day for him to leave and head out had finally come. He had recieved his orders a mere three days previous. Even if time was of the essence as he had been told such a limited frame within which to prepare was unusual for the calculating Bureau of Imperial Intelligence. Odder still was the limited information with which he had been given to work with. It was not their fashion to embark on any mission without sufficient and thourough prepation, something which was lacking from what Lhouzhī could see. But he had been told what to do, and it was his duty to carry out his mission. Without hesitation he commenced and completed his ritualistic morning shower before moving to the kitchen to prepare himself a standard  breakfast of tea and porridge. As the water boiled on the stove he retrieved the newspaper, glad to discover that it was delivered so early in the morning.

Sitting at the table in the center of the compact kitchen and staring through the lens of his glasses he read the headlines. Nothing though jumped out from the pages and siezed his attention violently. He was reading not for the content but for the sake of some activity. His mind was elsewhere, still befuddled by the unusual circumstances of the assignment which he would be beginning in a matter of hours. For the first time he could recall he was finding that he was genuinely worried about what was to come.

"Brother, what's wrong? You're up very early." His worried showed on his brooding face, and had been easily sighted by his younger sister Azzhau. Lhouzhī looked up from the paper with a sound of shock as she walked into the kitchen. "If you'd left this water any longer it would have boiled over." she added as she braved a torrent of steam to remove the kettle from the stove.

"Oh," replied Lhouzhī, taking of his glasses and rubbing his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm a bit out of it. Like you said I don't usually get up this early. What are you doing up?"

"Today's the day you leave isn't it?" she said, now rummuging through the cupboards. Evidently she had usurped the task of making breakfast for the both of them. Lhouzhī didn't protest. "I might not see you for a while."

"Well, it's nice to know that someone's looking out for me," he said with a smile as he turned to the next page of the newspaper.

"Of course I'm looking out for you," replied his sister, now pouring the boiling water into a series of cups and bowls. "We're family, and it would be a sad day when I can't look out for my own brother." Underscoring her statement she placed a cup of tea and a bowl of recooked rice in front of her brother. Lhouzhī though did not say anything, instead beginning to sip the tea while Azzhau settled herself across the table from him.

"What time are you leaving?" she finally asked after tasting her own tea.

"I have to be at the station in an hour." The answer was terse, even Lhouzhī could feel it. But he could not think of anything else to say. Departures he had found were always awkward and difficult to navigate. Azzhau seemed to be of the same mind set, waiting a moment before talking again.

"May I see you off then?"

Lhouzhī put the paper down and looked up. "Of course you can. You don't have to be anywhere do you?" Azzhau shook her head.

"Not until later today."

"Then there shouldn't be any problems." Neither of them said anymore while they finished consuming what remained to be eaten. This only unsettled Lhouzhī further. His sister was usually a very talkative character. But she was also an employee of the Bureau of Imperial Intelligence as well he reminded himself. She was not naive and knew full well the risks of what he was about to step into. It was at times like this that Lhouzhī found himself puzzled at his sister's career choice. It seemed completely at odds with her hopeful and quirky character. Every other employee of the Bureau was stiff, practiced and formal.

When he had finally drained the last of his drink Lhouzhī stood up.

"Time to go."

Ozian-Moacian Border

The moon was bright, the air was chilled, and the deserts were endless in point of view of Vendecci. Tired of this damned poverty he said to himself. He stood outside while his small and insignificant Parpaski clan huddled inside for warmth. He kept staring into the horizon of the deserts, watching the edge of every direction but the ones behind him. He examined the stars above him, numerous they were and he could see the other spirits who were Gaea's Brothers and Sisters. Sand started to pick up and he brushed his cloth off to get some sand off of it. The sand made a dust cloud around his face and he winced his eyes as they were touched by the dry sands. When he cleared his eyes, there was his mate, mother to two of his children. Both of his children were snots, even his mate was. However when he saw her he didn't know if she was bowing or falling. Obviously she was falling since her face went head first into the sands. behind her back were three gunshot wounds.

Vendecci swiftly leaped from his sitting position to run to the cave and warn the others, he heard various other pings on the outer walls and saw various ricochets. Once entered he clamored around the cave "Moaci! Moaci!"

He grabbed his rifle as did the other tribesmen and they took positions around the cave with some looking out
Posted on: October 11, 2007, 07:18:49 PM
Ozian-Moacian Border

In the entrance of the cave Vendecci saw the arm of his mate, the hand was settled on the sand motionless. He however had the disgrace of looking at her with his iron sights down his IA-7. Besides her hand he could see the wind blowing sand across the dunes and the moonlight reflecting upon them. All the fires were taken out so only natural moonlight was available. However there was a green glow coming towards. He motioned to others who were sitting next to him that something was coming. The woman next to him called out "Gaea!" in Moacian. A voice from there responded in Ozian, "the Light!"

Vendecci's heart sank, they really were Moacians, despite all the survival he has to put up with in living in the wastelands this was almost unbearable. The thought of his whole tribe wiped out had crossed his mind and just as he searched and searched for the coming enemy he thought what position would he come at, his anxiety almost overcame him and then he saw an arm stick out. He quickly pointed his rifle at it and shot it. The Moacian had dropped a device, spherical and it had a little trail of smoke coming from it. Then an explosion, light shrapnel cut his cheek, arm, and legs. He started to hear yelling outside and then another arm but he didn't have time to make the shot. It landed about 3m in front of him. The Elder Leader leaped onto the device and when the explosion came his body was torn up but he was still slightly alive. His mate rushed to him kissing him and others tried to pull her back. Vendecci was angered and whispered, "Everyone focus! Talia and Mare go out the second
entrance and flank them, I'll try and keep them focused on this position, Varo help keep some suppressive fire with me."

As soon as he said that, the 3 followed their orders and two of them exited and 1 of them stayed with Vendecci. The others stayed back and took cover from the chaos. Soon three Moacians with bright Green lighted goggles came in. The two surprised them and shot them all down before they could pull the trigger. The guns they had were much better than his and he picked it up. He heard of it before, it was the Iseltov SMG, he forgot the model but it looked new and the clip was long rectangular clip on the top of the gun. Another Moacian came in and when she sprayed the weapon he fell in love with the new weapon, Instantly 5 bullets surged through the Moacian. He stood up and Varo picked one up too. The Ozian proceeded outside where he saw the others. He signaled to them to come out of cover and fire. They provided a suppressive fire on the Moacian group as they tried to take cover behind various rocks. Then Vendecci rushed out gaining on the other flank and killing one Moacian after another with Varo.

When it was some stayed inside to take care of wounds but Vendecci however looked beyond the horizons with binoculars from the dead Moacians. He continued to loot some of the bodies and saw various documents especially one that said "Codename: Enlightenment" Inside it listed the group's orders to track down nomadic groups. He hurried back to cave where he met with various other tribe members and told of the danger.

"What do we do Vendecci?" asked Varo

Vendecci sighed, "I do not know, we need to alarm others though, but we must go the way of the rising sun, Now."

Various members started to clamor, "What of the wounded? Why are we leaving now didn't we kill them? Isn't it over? what if you're wrong why would they do that the Xyraelis wouldn't let them."

Vendecci shot his weapon into the ground. "Shush it! If the wounded can't move we have to kill them and release their spirits to Gaea, the Moacians are determined again as ever to kill us Ozians, we need to go deeper into Ozian territory, perhaps inform about this," he looked at his weapon which flashed Iseltov in the moonlight, "We need to find Iseltov."

Posted on: October 13, 2007, 02:02:33 PM
After 5 days of trekking the deserts of Ozia, Vendecci was starting to grow impatient. His fellow tribesmen kept slowing him down by helping out the wounded as they only shot the most serious of injuries. Around him those who were wounded in the ambush almost a week ago were limping, getting sick, and only consuming more water than they should have been. When they climbed the mountain though, there was a beautiful sight to be seen. It was the sea, he and his followers watched aas the waves hit against the land. Though beautiful none of the water was drinkable but for many of them this was the first time they had ever seen sea. At the coast however was a small vessel. Vendecci proceeded with caution and 10 minutes later he and his envoy made it to shore. He tried to conceal his weapon but however they had already seen it.

He spoke to them in Ozian, "Good day!"

Men on the small vessel replied back in a strange accent, "What is it you want?"

Vendecci knew the worst, these were Xyraeli traders, "We got some wounded, do you have a doctor?"

"Why would we give medical assistance to you slums?"

Vendecci aimed the gun up and sprayed his weapon around their ship. A ricochet hit one in the leg and he started to cry for mercy to the light and many of his comrades started to call him a whimp.

"Assistance is coming!"

Before coming down from the ship, the doctor and the Captain started muttering with each other in Inglish so the Ozians would probably not understand, "Who the fuck gave them weapons? Get down there before they kill us all, remind me on our next voyage to bring some defense instead of our queer little pistols"

"Wait, why are you sending me alone. They'll cut me open just like in the movies!"

"I can't help them, you're the doctor, good luck!"

Then shoving him off the ramp he scurried back to is vessel. The doctor asked in Ozian "Heh, heh which ones are wounded?"
Posted on: October 14, 2007, 10:00:48 PM
The captain slammed his hat to the ground when the Doctor spoke to him, "What the fuck do you mean they want a ride!?"

"Well, they... I had no choice"

"Understood, but I can't smuggle those Ozians, we've already got too much to feed."

"Well they also told me they had enough food for 50 for one more week but I do not know... They only seem to have 15.."

"15!? We're already at our limit! I'm sorry but the answer is no!"

The captain then walked to the bow of the ship where the Ozians waited eagerly for the response and the captain simply said in Ozian "N..."

Before he finished the word he was cut off by 3 bullets to his chest, 4 Ozians boarded the ramps and pointed their weapons around. The 11 others walked onto the ramp and helped themselves to deck. Besides the Doctor they shot everyone else that was on deck but them ceased to kill everyone down below, instead they made them hostages. Vendecci yelled in Ozian "Surrender and we will spare, spare one bullet and there's despair!" Varo muttered to him "Poetic now?"

He ignored him and kept his gun on the entrance. Up came the 5 sailors with their hands up and Vendecci instructed them, "Take me to the capital. We need to visit someone."

Without hesitation these 5 prisoners bowed and set the ship on course to the Divine City.

OOC: Oz, I assume that the Aygen story is going to fast-forward a bit here?  Can we talk about it at some point?

Eastern Edirne District

Sabite had heard the tramp of the men's boots on the loose gravel, and some grinding, dragging noise that she assumed must be a wheel, but they remained hidden by darkness until they were only a few yards away.  At that point even their whispered, hurried conversation became audible.  She heard what appeared to be the leader's demand for a pistol, and soon after noticed that she could no longer hear the tread of the two others; they must have left the path.

"You can put that away, you won't need it," said Sabite curtly in Inglish, turning to face her contact.  "There are no patrols here at this hour, and even if one did chance by, we're covered on all sides.  Your associates in the woods are, I'm sure, being told the same thing."  She knew her Inglish sounded haughty and pretentious, but then again, if she was right about who her contact was, that was exactly how she should sound.  And the more omniscient she sounded, the better that was as well.

The man hadn't said a word, nor moved beyond clicking on the safety of his weapon.  "Well," began Sabite again, "I was told that you would be bringing me, or telling me, something to my advantage."

"Yes," said Erwin, tucking his pistol into his back pocket. His brother was enigmatic; even the most conservative Myrorians could be convinced to say "He has some good ideas" if not well-educated. Or well-trained, depending on your point of view. But Rolf was dead, and now Erwin took over. His face was eerily gaunt, his skin almost grayish pale. Erwin wanted nothing less than total revolution, and he was more open to the idea of replacing "Libertarian Monarchy" with "Benevolent, Socialist Libertarian Dictatorship".

"Yes, yes." said Erwin, repeating his first words twice.

"My men and I have brought you weapons and money. We have some immediately here, in case you should have trouble getting your true prize. Great House Vrotrith has donated to your cause the MMM Individuality. It is painted in the colors of Hanso, so it should stay safely at the docks for your agents - hopefully unknown comrades - to claim it. Here is the purchase form. Ignore the charge; it's taken care of. As far as the Xyraelis should be concerned, the ship is destined for Peter Thompson, an outlander kinsman of Great House Hanso. Good luck, comrades."

The men dropped the wheelbarrow, placed two briefcases on top of the weapons it in, and walked off, presumably to catch a flight back to Myroria.

Sabite paused to watch the strange, grey, pinch-faced man summon his fellows and walk back over the crest of the nearest hill.  She called a few of her own comrades out of the woods and with them drew close to the barrow.  They made far less noise than the Myrorians had treading the shingle that paved the path, a skill aquired from long practice.

The weapons in the barrow were nothing special.  Indeed, many of them were inferior to the Iseltov models that stocked the Davet arsenals currently.  Still, every little was a gain, and the boost to morale of knowing that there were people out there in the wide world who sympathized was incalculable.

The real benefit turned out to be in the briefcases.  Both contained large stacks of Kolonialreichmarks, but one contained instructions on how best to claim the Individuality, the "true prize" that had been mentioned.  The barrow too made little noise as it was dragged along to the next destination; Kesan, where the Individuality was docked.

With a strained squeal and a hiss the train came to a halt at the station in Tekirdag. The sudden stop and the noise which accompanied it stirred Lhouzhī, who had been stealing a moment's nap while on board. Muttering to himself and disappointed that as always he had been awoken from his dream just as things were becoming interesting he picked up the single bag which contained all of the scant belongings which he had bothered to bring with him and exited the train.

Lhouzhī had not bothered to try and disguise himself. The inherent physical differences between him and the local population were simply insurmountable. Not only would have any attempt to hide them have been in vain, but it would have only cast suspicion on him by making it painfully obvious that he had something to hide and was making every effort to keep it from being hidden. He had evenly chosen to brazenly wear a Mor'osi nāmon. And his natural appearance was inherently disarming, making hiding it all the more pointless. 5'9", skinny with glasses and a thin mustache, Lhouzhī did not exactly say "threat" to most of the people who looked at him.

Getting to Tekirdag had been relatively simple, but he was far from his intended goal. He had received further details on his mission as he left Kēur. The uprising appeared to be centered around the city of Corlu, and that was where Lhouzhī had been assigned to head for. Unfortunately, Corlu was by far one of the most heavily guarded cities by the Xyraelis, who it seemed were intent on containing the revolution and its leaders. That was where the assignment had ended. No details had been provided on just how he was supposed to bypass this blockade, enter Corlu and contact the revolutionaries. Apparently the Bureau of Imperial Intelligence trusted him to figure that out on his own, and know doubt had no idea themselves.

Lhouzhī had pondered the problem through his entire journey, but had lacked the necessary intelligence to reach a conclusion. Now that he was in Tekirdag, his first order of business was to try and gather that necessary intelligence, or at least first after he had located some place in which to stay. The full weight and reality of where he was and just what he was about to attempt bearing down on him, Lhouzhī left the station, in search of a good hotel.

Lokman Guldeste stood outside the double doors to the Miltur Turistik Tesisleri Tekirdag, absently adjusting his off-white uniform jacket.  He never had much to do anymore; the upheval in Istanbul and Corlu had driven almost the tourists away.  Not that Tekirdag had ever been much of a tourist's city.  It's seaside was less beuteous than that of Marmara Eregli, and the nightlife was to be found in Corlu.  The harbors were small, and Tekirdag was only a very secondary port, so there wasn't even that source of tourism.  Probably why Miltur Turistik Tesisleri Tekirdag was the only real hotel in the city.

Technically, he didn't have to come into work today, due to the work holiday promulgated by the Xyraelis to counter the strike appeals from Corlu.  But he'd volunteered to come and keep the place running.  Not only did he defy the Xyraelis in his own small way by doing so, there were potential guests to be thought of.  Lokman wasn't a fan of the hotel management, but he didn't want to abandon any guests that might need him.

Lokman scanned up and down the patched asphalt of the road.  He didn't really have to do this, but a crushing boredom had settled down over him.  Tekirdag these days seemed quiet, repressed, too self-contained, especially when such momentous events were happening in a neighboring city.  Usually he didn't even bother to focus his eyes when he did this, but today was different.  Today he leaned back in surprise as an actual taxi bearing an actual guest pulled up to the curb.  To Lokman, it seemed that the guest was vomited out of the car with his luggage, as the car sped down the street.

As Lokman extended his hand to the stranger to take his bags, he noticed the odd details of his appearence.  The man was slight, mustachio'd, and dressed in a garment Lokman hadn't seen before.  Something in the back of his mind told him that this man was important in some way...

With a groan of discomfort Lhouzhī lifted himself off the ground, brushing of his clothing and readjusting his glasses. When he had done the latter, the man standing in front of him came into clear focus, and immediately Lhouzhī accepted the offer of help with his luggage.

"Thank...you" Lhouzhī said slowly, making an excessive effort at correct pronunciation and grammar as he spoke slowly in Turkish. Despite this, his accent was immediately audible, and in some ways a touch more pathetic for all of the wasted effort he had put into avoiding it. Readjusting his glasses again in what seemed to almost be a nervous habit, Lhouzhī  attempted to speak again, with much the same results as the first time.

"This is...hotel?" He bit his lip as he paused to search for his next words. "I am needing place... to stay a night."

After helping the man to steady himself, Lokman picked up his single, smallish bag.  It was made of a very dense, unyielding black material that Lokman couldn't identify, quite unlike the rucksacks or satchels that he was accustomed to tuck under his arm.  He held this bag instead by the handle as he and the stranger turned toward the doors.  It occured to Lokman that there was no way of telling what was in this sort of suitcase, but he didn't comment upon it.

Lokman spoke slowly, trying to accomidate to the man's stilted Turkish.  "Yes, you can stay here," he said.  Then, in an effort to make conversation he inquired, "why only one night?"

Lhouzhī did not immediately answer the man's question. He was preoccupied with yawning as well as stretching. For some reason he found that the left side of his back was aching. Perhaps he had slept on it funny in the train. When he finally did answer it was with a note of confusion. The language barrier was already proving to be a troublesome point for him.

"One night?" Lhouzhī did not recall specifically asking for just one night. But he knew full well that his Turkish was not the best there was and that it was best to defer judgment to a native speaker of the language.

"I am sorry then. What I said...is wrong then. I will most likely be needing more night than only one."

Looking up at the stars on the ship, Vendecci lay awake with his fellow comrades sleeping. He needed more followers, he thought. The cave and the ship were prime examples of what a larger force of people could do. Except what he also figured was this larger force wouldn’t pay for itself. He already had a group of hungry Nomads who can’t just simply hunt for Zuavka in the deserts. Perhaps he could organize a smuggling industry; he already had his first ship. Though he had wondered how he was going to get the ship past any of the Xyraeli guards in the first place. He would hope they would accept Ozians on a ship. The biggest thing he had to do though is meet up with Iseltov. He would need his weapons and support if the Ozians had any hope of winning anything.. Except then he noticed something peculiar, the Va’shi (Dune) Constellation. At that time of year the Va’shi constellation was towards the west and they were heading towards it. He had always thought the divine City was east.

Suddenly he yelled out, “Xyraeli Scum! Get up everyone, and get those Xyraelis.”

Once everyone was so rudely yelled at they followed his orders without hearing the explanation of Vendecci. When the Xyraeli crew members were dragged out Vendecci had his sword already out. He asked them, “Which one of you is navigating this vessel?

A weary man of about his 50s said in broken Ozian, “I… do…”

Vendecci wondered why it was so simple, “Why is this ship going west instead of east?”

The old man was then confused, “Well I thought you wanted to get to the ‘Divine City’ and my men and I determined that to be Oz’ava.”

“Well, why are we going west then?”

“East is La Sava.”

Vendecci was now more confused, “Wait… where is this ship now?”

The man didn’t know how to say the name but he then just said, “Northern Seas”

“So we’re in Moacian Waters?”

The old man smiled, “Yeah, how did you know?”

The Ozian was obviously irked and he yelled at them, “Turn this boat around! Go to La Sava for the sake of Gaea!”

The Xyraelis were immobile at their order because all they wanted was sleep. With only so few crewmembers many of them had to do double or even triple workloads to get the ship going. Except Vendecci hardly cared for their grievances and ordered, “Now!” Then the Xyraelis got the point of Vendecci’s urgency and began to turn the boat around.

Zhra’frehv

Zhra’frehv was an interesting city in the middle of the desert, it was watered by a beautiful Oasis and it was known by the people there, the only thing worth living for. The city was the only one in Divine Ozia that did not have Xyraeli Occupiers within it. Many who have wandered the desert or wish to be away from their troubles would either go to this city or La Sava. Since Xyrael ignored this city completely, others seemed to have taken control of this city. One of them is the richest Ozian, Dorlov Iseltov. Iseltov had bought many shops and trading firms in the area to expand his wealth. He even gathered supplies for Mt. Ijek at the city. However nobody knew why or where these covered trucks always ventured out in the desert but they could care less. Iseltov’s favored mistress lived in Zhra’frehv. Every 4 days he would come back for two to be with his favorite mistress, Esma, mother of his favored daughter, Sevda.

The night was calm and peaceful; everything was right in the city and tomorrow would be a new day. That morning people woke up and did their errands, men and women scurried around the streets doing each of their jobs, most of who were under paycheck of Iseltov. Esma watched the people from her window. She was happy, the next day her Iseltov would be home again to visit her. She always hated the four necessary work days for her mate. She always wondered why he couldn’t see her 4 days and work 2, was his work so important?

Esma sighed as the desert breeze brushed against the window door. There was something strange in the sky that one never saw often. Several aircraft were dancing around the city. Usually only one was seen and maybe two but there seemed to be hundreds. Many on the streets started to proclaim for Gaea as they saw the planes. Ozians stopped their errands, stopped their work, stopped their relaxing. They all took sight of these aircraft making a number of sounds and clamors on the city.

However, then the floor started to shake under Esma, what could that be she thought. She moved to another window where scattered Explosions and buildings were being torn up. Esma closed the window door and moved back to the window where she was. The vibrations were growing every second. At last the climax of the explosions made one right in front of the window she was looking out of. Dust flowed through the room, causing her cough out the dust from her lungs. Some of the servant girls rushed into the room to help Esma up and down the stairs. They heard sounds on the roof and the felt the constant vibrations of explosions from around the house. Once on the first story the women tried to rush into the cellar door but there came a voice from the back door. A man in Moacian Uniform, he and his squad raised their weapons and fired upon civilians. Esma and the two girls lay dead next to the cellar door, their blood splattered on the walls and draining on the ground.

The Moacian nodded to his comrades, “You know the orders; kill all the Ozians. Search the house, if you run out of ammo, you have your sword.”

The one day battle of Zhra’frehv was not what some Ozians would call a Battle, however most in Ozia would call it massacre as many of the Ozians did not have time to organize a resistance. Those who escaped wandered the desert or managed to get inside one of Iseltov’s Supply trucks. The Moacians however returned to their operation camps inside Ozia. The city was now a flower of ash and full of death and emptiness.

 Mt. Ijek
As Supply trucks came in distance of the mountain they called in urgency on the radio because they were being tailed by Moacian Aircraft. Iseltov was speculative about this, what the in the world was happening? He was just about to go to Zhra’frehv when he received this report. However with confirmation there were two unidentified aircraft in the radar. Iseltov ordered, “Get our birds up!”

Iseltov, a powerful family in the Xyraeli Territories had owned his own squadron of Fighter aircraft. Old as they were, they still worked. He bargained for them after Xyrael was modernizing their air force. He converted them into Ozian aircraft and named it under the scientist who converted them, Dr. Pali Staii. He had already secretly designed some newer models from Staii-1 to Staii-7. The only aircraft they had in physical form were Staii-1s and they had a Staii-2. The planes took off within a minute and received radar information from the ground below. The planes that the Moacians had were more modern than their own. As the Ozian aircraft closed in, the Moacian aircraft had already taken out a few trucks.

The Ozians broke and maneuvered in the skies. One in the Staii-2 had a heat seeking missile and when he had his lock he let it go. When the missile made impact the plane lost its wing and started to go down to the desert. This took the other Moacian completely by surprise. They didn’t know where the missile was coming from and then he saw four birds with Blue Stars closing in on him. He saw the models of their aircraft and almost laughed. Even though there were four of them, he could out maneuver all of them. The Ozians however in their crap vessels had trained thoroughly and tried to use their weaknesses as an advantage by using confusing formations to trap the plane.

The Moacian ascended quickly up and one of the Ozians tried to follow him but lost him. His aircraft dove back down into a stall. The Moacian quickly turned around to persue the stalled out aircraft. However as the plane came across two others went behind him and one dove down on him raining machine gun and cannon fire on the Moacian. They caused a spark into his fuel and there leaked a fire in the plane of the Moacian. Before the aircraft hit the ground flames engulfed the aircraft and plummeted into the sand.

The supply trucks rushed quickly into the mountain as the aircraft started to land. When the people were unloaded they told their stories to many of the people giving them water, clothes, and food. Iseltov soon heard the new, the news of the massacre. Iseltov was devastated and retired to his quarters.

One of his advisors came in, she knocked on the door first and said, “Everything ok sir?”

“No… Esma is probably dead.”

“What? Esma didn’t escape?”

“I did not hear from her so I assume she’s dead, from what I’ve heard… about the massacres from the Moacians. I don’t believe I’ll be seeing her ever again.” As he grieved ideas of vengeance crossed his mind. Almost like Gaea gave him the sword to bear and use. Perhaps Gaea wanted him to do it. Moacians in the past had caused these atrocities. This was an Ancient struggle between Ozians and Moacians. This time however, he would crush them.

His advisor looked at his eyes, his maroon iris was bright like blood, she asked, “What are you thinking? What are you about to do?”

Iseltov held his hand up, “Unleashing the Sword, get me missile command and the biological weapon’s chief.”

Gaea's Sword
The main river of Moacia was the River Ni’ia. Three major cities and half of the Moacian Agriculture depended on the river. However they didn’t know what would come to haunt them in futures to come, except what future would it bring. A Lone and mysterious missile came down on the source of the river. Various agents of anthrax found new hosts in plants, animals, and farmers of the area. The Anthrax flowed through the water, through houses, and through irrigations all the way down the river. The attack was invisible to those in the three cities. The warfare was silent, death was silent, and so their lives and spirits went away. The anthrax was thriving, flowing, and surviving. Every piece of bread, glass of water, fruit, vegetable, herb, tree, animal, human, etc. held the virus. This didn’t just threaten them but it threatened their Export Partners and people throughout Moacia. In a single week almost 2 million along the river had already died from the deadly attack and the problem was there would be more.

Several soft boot steps heralded the entrance of someone Kitao Cho had not been looking forward to. The mans strong heavy-built shoulders bore more stripes than she felt necessary to count, and the jingle of a myriad of metals softly clattered against each other. She snapped to her feet, her chair flying from under her, her fingers slamming to her brow. "General Tanaka! Sir!" The man softly place a pistol before her on the desk, with it a single bullet.

"You've handle Laen'ka quite well, Cho. But you've done nothing to stop the Moacians."

"It wasn't my place! Saito should've handled them!"

"Saito has been replaced."

Cho choked on her pride, realizing why the General had come.

"You've proven yourself a capable leader here in the capital, but the entire Empire is crumbling because of your failure! Look at what you've done wasting your time with pathetic insurgents! If Saito can't do his duty then you attack! You know the doctrine, never rely upon your comrade always take action! You disgrace yourself!"

Tanaka swirled on his heel and slammed his way through the door, barreling his way to communications. Strikes, wars... Bullshit! A gunshot sounded through the building, startling the lieutenant who stood before the large officer.

"General! Sir!" he swiftly genuflected as deep as he could, before snapping his best salute. "Your orders, Grace?"

"Stop the purge in Laen'ka. Issue a decree, begin bulldozing the families of traitors outside of Laen'ka. Order all those who have fled the city back in, issue a state of high defense. We're having problems at Moacia. Disband the Ozian army. Send them home, give them an additional years paid vacation as a formality. Move a division of Rikukaihei and siege Corlu, starve the bastards. Tell them we're at a state of war, and that the punishment for treason during times of war is execution. Issue a general draft in Moacia'av, use them to garrison the cities, and move the Moacian i'va'ksh to secure Ozian cities."

Tanaka slammed his fist on the table as he finished dictating. "Tell Admiral Ita to issue a general blockade of the colonies, I don't give a damn what his priorities are either. If he doesn't, inform the Emperor we have more traitors than I care for and that I request leadership of all branches of the military for this operation. If the boat doesn't have missiles on it I don't want to see it floating."

He could hear a rustle in the room and a loud thud, turning to see what it was. Several enlistedmen had dropped Cho's limp body, blood and brains spilling to the floor in a gruesome mess. The lieutenant gulped before nodding, swiftly moving to carry out his orders.

Lokman silently berated himself for being tactless.  He should have known what the man meant.  Aloud he said "Oh that's alright.  I'll show you to your room."  They had, by this time, passed by the front desk, where, in the absence of an attendent, Lokman had picked up a key and registration card.  "Please fill this out," he said, giving the man the card and key as they walked up the slightly creaking stairs.
Lokman unlocked room 207 and ushered the man inside before realizing that he'd missed an important detail.  "What's your name?  Wait-"  He had unconsciously raised his voice to speak over the room's television, which had somehow been left on.  He had asked the man to wait before speaking because the television was saying that a division of Rikukaihei would shortly be moved to Corlu.

As they walked from the desk and up the stairs and down the hall Lhouzhī only half listened to what Lokman was saying. As much pressure as he had felt earlier the knowledge that he had now gone so far as to secure a room in what was essentially hostile territory for a prolonged stay multiplied it many times over. Paranoia began to creep into his mind. The man to whom he now spoke might be uninvolved. Or he might be his undoing if he were some spy working against his mission. His survival now depended on his wits, observation and ability to discern friend from foe. When they stopped so that Lokman could unlock the room, Lhouzhī abandoned his cautions and worries for a moment and took the opportunity to start filling out the registration card. He had produced a pen from his left sleeve and was not scribbling something on the it, using the wall as an impromptu writing surface. Unwilling to leave even such a simple matter hanging in midair without any conclusion Lhouzhī expended several more seconds after Lokman had asked the question in which to finish what he was writing.

"I am sorry then," he said, allowing himself an insecure and embarrassed smile. "I have not introduced me yet. Please, I am Akta Lhouzhī Gulma," he said, giving a curt bow in conjunction with his verbal introduction. "Please, what is your name?"

"I am Lokman Guldeste, Lhouzhi," said Lokman, attempting to return the bow.  It felt wrong when he did it, as if there was some subtle movement he was missing, but that really wasn't the issue.  "I'm sorry, my mind is wandering," he continued, setting Lhouzhi's bags just inside the room.  "The whole situation to the west is troubling."  He stopped, knowing that he probably shouldn't be talking politics with the guests, especially since he didn't know what Lhouzhi's opinions were.  "Well, if you need anything, just call," said Lokman, turning around.
Title: Re: Nula, Yarın, Ev'saht

"No, it is good," said Lhouzhī in response to Lokman's apology as he followed him into the room. "I am knowing about what happens. I have been reading about the fights in newspapers in Mor'os. In fact," he continued, inspecting and evaluating the room, "I was worried coming to here. But I believe here is rather calm." Lhouzhī stopped there, still curious about Lokman. The man certainly did not look Xyraeli, and was quite clearly one of the natives. Still, Lhouzhī still instinctively wondered whether or not he was attempting to lure him into making some verbal misstep with his current talk about the situation in the west. West, where he wanted to go himself.

"Yes, I will," said Lhouzhī, acknowledging Lokman's final statement as he left the room. The door closed, and that was it. Lhouzhī waited for a moment, thinking, planning his next movement, pondering whether he had the necessary skills and the luck to complete what he had to do. He was confident in his own abilities, but had never placed too much stay in luck. Unfortunate, since with such an open ended situation placed before him he would need plenty of it.

"Hē ām moch sū mar on ū..." he muttered as he stretched and yawned. Despite the nap he had managed to steal on the train ride into Tekirdag the journey had left him exhausted, and there was little that he would be able to accomplish immediately. Better to rest and begin to tomorrow he concluded.

Rikukaihei Moacia Fury Division, headed by Shōshō (Maj General) Taiko, had been dispatched to Corlu earlier in the week, and now the first Company arrived at South Gate 5, one of many roadblocks which had been imposed on all entrances into the city. A clear sky cunningly disguised powerful gusts of warm wind blowing from the Ozian lands to the east, and an orange sun slowly descended under the crest of the western sea. The eighteen thousand Imperial Marines had been launched as part of Operation Wrath, whose goal was hidden to all but the highest eschelons of command. First Company was the vanguard of the force, destined to probe the levels of resistance which would be met.

Taii (Captain) Konata, however, was uneasy about the prospect of foraying into Corlu, a bustling urban center of 180,000. He was not a rookie, he'd seen combat before, but he always had gut feeling before combat. This one made him uneasy, and those men of his around him knew it.

"Juni Sato, inform Chūi Arai to begin a preliminary reconaissance of the outskirts. I want to know if the residents have set up any meaningful defense."

The Chief Warrant Officer nodded before turning to a liason who quickly bowed before hurrying to carry out his unspoken orders.

The sun had sunken below the horizon, and the clouds to the west shone with a brilliant red while those in the east lingered in a ghostly blue against the black canvas of night. The soft rustle of twigs and dried brush was camouflaged by strong gusts of wind which blew across the rolling hills. Several squads of men, well camouflaged and geared, stealthily moved at a rather brisk pace towards several buildings, designated Objective Asahi.

The buildings were dark, unoccupied storage facilities, probably abandoned. Several skeletal structures rose around them, as though time had frozen during construction, as though they were monuments to some fools hairbrained get rich quick scheme. Gunsō Fukazawa looked to his men impatiently.

"Alright guys, Arai wants us to keep moving while he sets up a rally point. Heichō Ochi you cover the west side of the road, something moves you hold fire. No giving away your positions, we ain't the Confederates we want to do this shit calmly."

The men chuckled briefly while inspecting their weapons, making sure everything was where it should be. With a simple nod the men departed and quickly headed north to several small subdivisions on the outskirts of the city...

Report on Moacian-Ozian Border Dispute

Your Most Revered, Esteemed Excellency, Master of the Northern Seas and Unchallenged Overlord of the Empire, we beg you give audience to our cry for help. Merciful Master, our people suffer at the cruel hands of your unloyal heretic subjects, those bastard children that would dare shun the Light have murdered three million of your most loyal and devout sons and daughter. We bid you, call down your divine wrath, punish these sinners. Show them that the Empire cannot suffer their evil! They have poisoned our rivers, plighted our crops, shunning honour to strike us a cowards blow. Show these earth worshipping scum that beyond their world is nothing but darkness.

IMPERIAL DECREE

His Holy Eminence has determined the Ozian colony a danger to the lives of those in Moacia. Their use of chemical weapons must be punished. The Emperor hereby calls for a reward for the heads of the Iseltov family amounting to one hundred million yen per slain family member. Only one reward per person. In addition, a five hundred million yen bounty is issued upon the head of Iseltov himself. The manner of death will not be investigated.

His Enlightened Grace has decreed that the Moacian Legion may take actions necessary to preserve the integrity of her people and stability of her nation. In addition, His Grace sees no need to allow the Ozian Legion to exist. All Ozian soldiers are to disarm, any Ozian found bearing rifles of 7.62 caliber or larger, or of automatic or silenced nature shall hereby be found guilty of treason. The punishment is death.

The Kita Rikugun stationed within Moacia will be mobilized to take control and police the major cities of Ozia. The Empire assures all Ozian citizens dwelling under the protection of the XGSDF that they will be safe from any Moacian counter attacks, and urges all residents living near the borderland to move towards an urban center. A demilitarized zone is to be instituted upon the Moacian-Ozian Border at the end of the year. Any soldier found crossing the border, whether Moacian or Ozian, after the establishment of the DMZ, will be shot until dead.

Statement by Meneldur Tar-Ilium

Myroria will not recognize the bounty issued by the Xyraeli government as legitimate. Any Myrorian caught attempting to collect it will be charged with murder. In addition, the Myrorian government finds the bounty placed on the heads of Iseltov's family as cruel and unusual punishment, and extends Iseltov's family and Iseltov himself refuge in Myroria. Myroria also recognizes the grievances placed by the Gallipoli-Chinese state, and (albeit reluctantly), recognizes it as an independent state. Any officially declared Ozian state will likewise been seen as legitimate.

From the Office of the Tar-Ilium Plantation,
County Ivorheart, Myroria.

OOC: The Davet has adopted the Xyraeli military organization up to the Company level, and will continue to do so if its forces grow.

Jelal Isikli looked out towards the line that had been thrown up since the Davet takeover of the city.  It seemed to be brooding, or waiting, always waiting.  His comrades and constant companions over the last few weeks, Tulin Akalay and Yavuz Kerimoglu, sat beside him, the former cleaning her weapon obsessively, the latter taking a sip from his battered canteen.  The three were part of the now seven-hundred twenty strong Corlu Defense Force, all of them having joined in the first heady days, before everything had slowed up (for those of you who can't count, that's 870 armed Davet loyalists in Corlu, including turned i'va'ksh.  They had trained together, learning to trust one another, and to accept each others' foibles.  They had then, with forty-five others, been stationed near Checkpoint Five, their function to report any suspicious goings-on and to resist any incursions into the city.

This checkpoint wasn't heavily guarded; the other four had garrisons of seventy or more.  Here, in addition to hundreds of Xyraeli collaborationists, was stationed the <number/name> Gallipoli i'va'ksh platoon, which had been almost entirely turned before the breakout of hostilities.  Despite this somewhat comforting presence, the three, and all the other Davet fighters at the Checkpoint, felt exposed.  No people lived here anymore, having moved to the safer environs of the inner city, and the gloomy edifices seemed to squat on and stoop over the ground.

Suddenly, Jelal noticed that Tulin had lept to the side of the warehouse upon whose roof they were stationed.  She motioned them both to drop flat, which they did, Yavuz giving three clicks on his radio handset.  Tulin, meanwhile, had both lined up and got off a shot.  If Yavuz's signal didn't send one additional fireteam running up to help (as it was supposed to), that shot would alert the other eight Davet fighters in the warehouse.  Jelal slithered up to her and was able to see a dead Xyraeli several hundred yards away.  The block of warehouses was four long and two deep.  They were stationed on the roof of the fourth warehouse from the checkpoint, in the row closest to the road.  Around them loomed the comparitavely tall three-story residential flats.  The dead Xyraeli was lying near the first warehouse, in the row closest to the road.

Jalel slithered back away from the edge as a slug whistled overhead in response to Tulin's shot.  Tulin hesitated to fire back, unwilling to waste any ammunition on anything less than a sure shot.  To make it easier, moved towards one of the searchlights.  Yavuz had switched from broadcasting bursts of static to speaking in a hurried undertone into the radio, obviously reporting back to Command that there was an incursion.

In more peaceful days the searchlights mounted on each corner of the warehouse had been used to keep off burglars.  Now, though the angle was awkward, Jalel turned one of the great lights toward the warehouse the Xyraelis seemed bent on occupying.  He now heard, in addition to the whistles of Xyraeli bullets the cracks of Tulin's weapon.  Two others were with her now; the third member of the reserve fireteam lay near the staircase that led to the inside of the warehouse, leaking blood onto the roof.

"Ready mate?"
"What?!?!" Ares yelled, unable to hear the sergeant over the fierce winds blowing into the high altitude transport.

"ARE YOU READY?!?!"
"YES!"
"ALRIGHT THEN! YOU GO IN, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN. UNDERSTAND?!?!"
Lovely Ares thought.
"YES!" he responded.

"RIGHT! FOR EMPEROR AND COUNTRY!"
"FOR INGLO-SCOTIA!"

With that Vince Ares dove from the opening, rocketing toward the ground. He didn't need to look up to know his transport was heading out of Xyraeli air space as fast as it could.

He pulled the cord on his parachute. At first his entire upper body was yanked upward, he thought he was going to break in half. That passed, however, and gave way to a gentle fall to the ocean, not far from Corlu.

As soon as he hit the water he detached from his chute and began his swim to the mainland. He didn't have much time, his air tank was small, just one of the many "pleasantries" of this mission.
He would probably be the first white man this province had ever seen, how he was going to go unnoticed, during a revolution no less, was a mystery to him.
Still, he wasn't an ex-Imperial Navy Ranger for nothing. He wasn't to worried.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He reached the shore, poking his head up just enough to scan the beach.
Filthy
He carefully moved under the shallow water to the shadows. Quickly he jumped to his feet, and pressed his body up against a rock formation hidden in the shadows.
After he was sure no one had seen or heard him he shed his wet suite. There were no international markings on them, no way they could be traced back to the Imperial Navy. Besides, they made in the CSD anyway.

Even without his wet suite he blended into the shadows. He was decked out in black; black military trousers, boots, and shirt.
Carefully he moved along the rocks until he could get a better view of the city.
Bloody hell, it makes Tobiasburgh look like paradise he thought, comparing Corlu to Inglo-Scotia's industrial centre.

Now came the difficult part; getting into the city, and finding this "Yusuf" without drawing attention to himself.
At least its dark
Unzipping a pocket on his trousers he pulled out what appeared to be a ball of black fabric.
Ares pulled and yanked the ball until it unfolded into a cheap, but effective, black cap. He put it on, pulled down on the small brim, and kept his head down.
It wasn't perfect, but given the late hour it should be able to avoid suspicion until he was able to duck into the slums.
He did just that, moving at just the right pass through Corlu.
To fast and he'd seem suspicious. To slow and he'd risk someone noticing him.
After brushing off an offer from a street vender to buy a pound of shrimp he was sure was a digestive nightmare waiting to happen, he ducked into a dark ally.

What he found was a whole other world, a city within a city, an above ground labyrinth.
The streets seemed deserted. He just started walking, hoping to run into someone.
Then he saw him, a Xyraeli soldier.
He kept his head down, but managed to get a glimpse of him. He seemed almost as lost as he did, probably some poor chap who decided to go exploring on his own, probably a young kid with dreams of crushing this rebellion.
As the two neared Ares made sure his head stayed down.
Suddenly he heard it, the Xyraeli word for "stop!"
You poor miserable bastard....

Ares stopped, kept his head down, and put his arms up.
As soon as the soldier grabbed him he sprung into action, almost seamlessly moving behind the soldier, sinking a knife into his back.
He moved his right hand over the soldier's mouth.
"Sorry about this, chap" he whispered, almost half-joking.
Quickly but quietly he lowered the body down to the ground, and dragged it to a small, poorly lit side ally. Before leaving he grabbed the soldier's hand gun.

Apparently the incident had caused more noise then he had expected.
Two men, dressed in dirty, lose cloths emerged, each carrying automatic riffles.
"Drop the gun" one of them said quietly, yet forcibly in his native tongue.
Ares did so, without hesitation. He also quickly tossed his cap aside.
The two men were clearly surprised to see a white man.
He wasn't fluent in the languages of these parts, but he tried his best to put a sentence together.
"I'm...Inglish....here to help....Yusuf...I must see Yusuf...."

Gunsō Fukazawa lay there on the ground, dead. The shot had caught him in the neck, and Heichō Ochi had quickly taken action. His voice echoed through the communication set. The men remained calm, hunkered down at the side of the road. "Iti stay where you are. San and Si, press the front, Ni find a flank and expose it. Go now." His words were sharp and calm even as his eyes watched the stream of blood quickly pool in a divit in the street, Fukazawa's heart pumping the last pints of blood from his body. Three men on the opposite side of the street quickly found denser cover in the field as they moved unseen to flank the warehouses from the east. Ochi watched as Fireteam Iti collected their fallen leader, and turned to his men.

"Si, have your marksman scan the warehouses. Fire if you see something, doesn't have to be a kill but don't shoot like an idiot. San," he spoke to his fireteam, "move with me. We have to get to those warehouses." His men nodded briefly before a shot echoed from the rifle of the female marksman from Iti. Her shot was followed by two others, all well placed. Whoever she was firing at was either dead or too busy hiding to watch. Ochi took his chance to move and quickly hustled through the dry bushes to a blocky structure which lacked any meaningful purpose. More gunfire came from the female marksman as she fired relentlessly to avenge her Gunsō.

Ochi found himself behind a small pillar, the enemy a little under two hundred yards away. His two comrades were also watching the enemy positions. Just a fireteam? There had to be more. Ochi looked to his comrades wondering how long he'd wait until Ni was in position to pincer the enemy...

La’haid Naval Base

Sevda Iseltov and Hideki were reviewing the new navigational computer systems for the Yamato Battleships. Hideki quietly sipped his coffee as Sevda read over the scientists’ commentary about their research. So far the battleships hadn’t made it to the base yet and most of the northern fleets docked in the base. The phone broke Sevda’s concentration in the conference room. On the phone was blinking the third line, Sevda walked over to the phone and she found it odd that the third line was unmarked. There were only two lines on the phone she had. Hideki was still sipping his coffee and Sevda replied, “Don’t pick it up, you must be busy…”

Annoyed at Hideki who just shrugged off her sarcastic comment, Sevda continued to the phone where she answered the call. “Hello? This is Sevda Iseltov.”

In Ozian a voice similar to her father’s said, “Sevda! Sevda! This is your father, what have you heard?”

“What are you talking about papa?” she answered in Ozian

“The biological warhead on Moacia!”

“What biological warhead? Moacia got hit with a biological agent?”

“Yes,” he sighed, “I ordered it, but I have other bad news, it seems they haven’t said anything there. Your mother is dead…. The Moacians destroyed Zhra’frehv.”

A sudden jolt of sorrow filled her, “Papa? Why!”

“Listen my desert flower, you need to get out… I need you safe, I can’t lose anyone. They’ve declared me a traitor and they put a bounty on me and the family. Please, get out of there!”

“Papa… how?... I have no where to go… are you sure mum is dead!?”

Despair filled her father’s voice over the line, “I don’t know flower… I have to go!”

There was a click over the line, “Papa? What about you? Papa!?”

Hideki was attentive as to the conversation of sorrowing Ozian that Sevda had. Tears streamed down Sevda’s eyes and her maroon eyes were bright with moisture. She began to sniffle and wipe away her tears but it was no use to her she kept crying. Hideki was confused and didn’t know what to do in this sort of situation. Sevda didn’t hold it against him though; he was a scientist not a nanny.

After Sevda regained focus she mumbled to herself in Ozian, Hideki was only watching and understanding what she was doing by the actions she was doing. She walked into another room and returned about 5 minutes later. This time she had a pistol and sword. Hideki hesitated and jumped with his coffee, “Sevda?”

“Hideki, I’m not going to kill you, I have to go.”

Hideki sighed, “About the bounty?”

Sevda asked him, “What are you talking about?”

“They contacted our computers to capture or kill you… and try and evict the Ozians from the building; I thought it wasn’t real…”

Sevda replied, “It is correct, why didn’t you kill me? You have your pistol don’t you?”

Hideki put his pistol on the table, “Though he is my emperor, I can’t kill for money, it is dishonorable.”

She smiled at Hideki and she kissed his right cheek, “Thank you.”

Hideki felt his cheek and turned from being an emotionless scientist to someone who retained a smile. However he didn’t retain the smile for long, it ended when the door was swung open.

A guard stood there and said to Hideki, “Where’s Sevda Esma Iseltov by order of the Emperor?”

He looked around him and to his surprise she wasn’t there anymore. She was however behind the opened door. As the guard stepped in he pointed at her but Sevda already raised her Ozian Sword to the guard’s throat. Drawing one slash she opened his airway where he tried to scream in agony but only pathetic chokes of breath were heard. He dropped to the ground and blood from his throat made a puddle on the carpet. She looked back at Hideki and gave grin to him. Hideki was however sickened by the body. He took his coffee and walked to the other room.

Mt Ijek
Parpaski put the phone down and one of his aides rushed into his office, he said, “Sir we have incoming Xyraeli helicopters. What do you want us to do?”

He smirked to his aide, she seemed quite worried but she still held her rifle firmly, “Tell other scientists to get to the bomb shelter if they don’t want to get involved, Those that do are welcome to grab a rifle and resist the incoming guests.”

“Yes Sir.”

When she left and shut the door Iseltov grabbed the I-19 right next to his desk and loaded it. More crazed in bloodshed than anything he convinced himself he would not go quietly. He even laughed at those who offered him Sanctuary in other nations.

Yavuz had hung back from the shooting, continuing his fevered radio communications.  The other three Sections had to be kept informed at all times of Xyraeli positions if they were to know when to reveal themselves.  So far, they had been successful, Tulin, Jalel, and the others keeping all the Xyraelis they'd seen pinned down behind a caern on the opposite side of the road.  Yavuz didn't know if there'd been any more kills by his comrades since the first one, but he knew that none of them had fallen.

Suddenly, that changed.  There was a sharp crack, a scream, and then a sickening thud as Jalel toppled off the searchlight and onto the roof.  Blood was oozing out a gash in his leg; he didn't appear to be badly hurt, since he was managing to apply direct pressure with his gloved hand, but he'd be out of it for days at least.  Yavuz ducked as more Xyraeli bullets whizzed overhead, not from the caern, but from warehouse 1A, two buildings down from where they were.  He shouted this information into the radio, picked up his IA-7, and fired a few wild shots back.

The top of 1A was suddenly engulfed in searing red flame as mortars fired by 8 Heavy Weapons Section (that's the official name of the unit, I'm not saying there's eight Sections) unleashed retaliation on the Xyraelis.  They and two additional Rifle Sections from 8 Platoon had been stationed in the three-story residential buildings behind the warehouses.  Yavuz hoped they hadn't revealed their hand too soon.

Since this man obviously couldn't understand Gelibolu, Komiser Dünya Cetin and Onbasi Remzi Yamak felt secure uttering a brief exchange in front of him.  They spoke quickly, unwilling to waste time, and aware that such speed would make it even harder for this Inglishman to understand.  "We can't just take him to see Yusuf," said Dunya.  "You saw what he did to that Xyraeli over there; if he's lying about wanting to help, he could do some serious damage."

Remzi wasn't having any of that.  He replied "Yusuf can take care of himself; he's done more with his life than sit behind a desk.  Whatever this guy can do, Yusuf will be able to defend himself until someone intervenes."

"This is stupid-"

"He says he wants to help.  We need help.  Therefore, we take him where he wants to go," said Remzi firmly.  He knew Dunya outranked him, and that his approval would be necessary if this man was to reach Yusuf.  Dunya closed his eyes and nodded slowly before turning back to face the stranger.

"You come with us" he said slowly, in a clear voice completely distinct from his rapid chatter a few moments before.  "You will see Yusuf."  Wondering if the Inglishman could understand this, Dunya turned on his heel and walked a few paces.  He turned his head, and sure enough, the Inglishman was following him; he in turn was followed by Remzi, who kept an I-19 pointed at his back.

"Easy mates" Ares said, the I-19 at his back.
"Like I said, I'm here to help."

After ducking into an ally one of the armed me handed him a piece of black cloth.
You didn't have to be a SSI agent to know what that meant.
Nodding to show his understanding and compliance he took the piece of cloth and tied it around his face, covering his eyes, leaving him more or less blind.
"Lead the way" Ares remarked.

Remzi, steering the Inglishman with one hand on his shoulder, could only imagine what it must be like for him.  To be unable to see, to have to stumble when your guide made an error, to not know what sounds meant and how to react...  Still, it was necessary until they learned whether or not the Inglishman could be trusted.

Eventually, after a few clearences and some whispering in Gelibolu, the trio came to the antechamber of Yusuf's office.  Dunya left Remzi and the Inglishman outside while he went in to brief Yusuf on the situation.  A few minutes later, they were called in.  Remzi took off the Inglishman's blindfold, letting him see his host and the room they occupied.

It was a room without windows, but it didn't feel cramped.  The walls were plastered; the plaster looked cream rather than white due to the lighting.  There were no pictures on the walls, and the oak desk and Davet flag (A red bar atop a black bar, without charge) tacked to the back wall were the only decorations.  Dunya and Remzi took positions by the door as Yusuf began to speak.

"The Komiser said you wanted to speak to me," he said in slightly accented Inglish.  Yusuf pronounced his th's heavily, almost like d's.  "I am told you come to offer us help, Inglishman.  Is this true?"  Yusuf placed his hands together and peaked his fingers, elbows on the table.  Seeming to think better of his forthrightness, he continued "Where are my manners?  What is your name?"

Lhouzhī woke, annoyed yet again at the fact that his dreams were always cut short so unceremoniously. For a full minute he did not realize completely where he was, his brain and body already preparing themselves for the morning ritual which he had practiced so many times at home. It was not until he was fully awake that he realized his folly and violently redirected his train of thoughts. A new day was dawning, and he was completely rested and prepared for it. There would be no further delays. Dressing swiftly, he was out the door and into the streets of Tekirdag within three quarters of an hour, poking about for any news, rumors or information that might help him to accomplish what he had come to do, and with any luck locate a good place to eat as well.

It did not take long for Lhouzhī to discover that his arrival had coincided with a drastic turn of events. He had known that Corlu was surrounded, but it appeared now that the situation had drastically escalated. If things were as bad as he could gather from hear say, he might have to rethink entirely what he was going to do on the fly.

It was at some time past noon that he flopped with a groan of frustration onto a bench, his feet tired and aching from trekking up and down the city throughout the morning. Things were not going as he had expected, the events in Corlu had thrown everything off course, and to contact the Capital for help simply posed too much of a risk to the security of the mission. Nor was he making as rapid progress as he would have liked in uncovering and contacting whatever covert organizations were operating against the Xyraeli government. He had managed to catch here and there a hint, a flash of a clue, but nothing definite had yet surfaced. Before he might have had more patience, but now events were moving fast. Taking off his glasses and rubbing his weary eyes, Lhouzhī mumbled something incoherently as an expression of his dissatisfaction. He was beginning to suspect that a miracle alone would be able to rescue him.

Damla Vaner aimlessly wandered the streets.  Her manager at the restaurant had taken the work holiday a little too literally; the restaurant had been closed since the order had been declared in effect.  This had put an end to Damla's plans to persuade her colleagues to strike.  Not that they were likely to listen anyway, she reflected.  She'd made herself pretty unpopular due to being outspoken about her pro-Davet politics.

She cast her eyes down to the street as what she took for a lone Xyraeli came walking towards her.  The Xyraelis had been more numerous in the city since they had begun using Tekirdag as a supply line to Corlu.  However, there was something about this Xyraeli that was puzzling.  Xyraeli military and even logistics were usually built; this man was slight.  His costume was also dissimilar, civilian, not the armor and plastic of a soldier.  Before he passed, therefore, she stopped and said "Hello, sir, where are you going?"

The man, evidently caught of guard, made an abrupt and startled motion, jumping a bit. When he had regained his balance he readjusted the pair of glasses which he wore and attempted to affect a sociable expression despite the remaining vestiges of his initial shock.

"Oh, hello," he said, speaking with an accent which, while thick, was not Xyraeli. "I am not sure where I go now. Maybe I can ask your help? I look for a good place to eat. Do you know any?"

Yusuf didn't move, he was watching Ares intently.  Ares stood stock still, feet spread slightly apart, arms at his sides, looking neither left nor right.  Yusuf knew that Ares would be sizing him up, and was doing the same.  He seems sincere, but that raises more questions than in answers.  He's representing Beaconsfield, that means Inglo-Scotia's supporting our efforts, albiet covertly.  Myroria's already recognized us.  The PI seems to have an inordinate amount of interest in our success.  No doubt if we use Ares the Inglish will ask favors later, they're probably thinking of using Gelibolu as a puppet state.

Yusuf said none of this aloud, nor did he make it clear in his expression, which remained unreadable.  He lowered his hands to the table, keeping the fingertips together.  "Welcome aboard, Mr. Ares," he said, standing up and leaning forward with his right hand extended.

Ares shock the rebel leader's hand.
"So how did you blocks end up in this predicament anyway?" he asked.
Vince would readily admit he knew very little about this part of the world, his knowledge limited to the Inglo-Xyraeli War of 1839. Inglo-Scotia had attempted to colonize this continent, but the Xyraeli navy held them at bay, keeping the Inglish colonial empire out of this corner of the world. Since then the two powers had resented one and other.
These Gallipoli, as the Inglish called them, were a mystery to him. He really had no idea who they were, or how or when the Xyraeli dominated them.

"It's a long story; Xyraeli control of Gelibolu is four centuries old," replied Yusuf, leaning back into his chair.  "As for our present predicament...our isolation here is entirely my fault.  You'd think it would be easier to get the District organizers to make a quick decision."  He stopped, realizing that he'd been about to reveal the internal workings of his Party to a foreigner, a possible spy or sabateur.

"But that is unimportant.  There is currently a skirmish at Checkpoint five, on the southeast road that leads to Tekirdag.  You should be able to slip out in the west; they'll be draining troops from that area and moving them east if I know anything about Xyraeli military doctrine.  Once out, head to this island, wait-"  Yusuf pulled out from behind him a medium-sized map of the colony and circled a small dot of land with red ink (OOC: that island is marked in bright red here).

"It houses a radar station vital to Xyraeli surveillence of this area.  I want it gone.

"Can you do that, Mr. Ares?"

Arai quickly surveyed the room briefly. It was still intact, if only for a moment. He quickly grabbed his comrade, who clutched his ears and rocke back in forth in panic and shock. "WE HAVE TO MOVE!" he shouted.

"WHAT!?"

Arai pointed out the door and signalled for the man to get the fuck out. His fingers uneasily grabbed his rifle as he hurried out the door. Arai followed him but stumbled over something. A body, or rather bits of one. Blood and smoke smeared the walls of the hallway, several gaping holes opened up to the sky as though Arai was looking from the depths of hell into the vast emptiness. He shuddered, quickly heading down the stairs. Men were shouting at each other, the com systems hissing static as they attempted to automatically recover from the shells shock. Bullets whipped through the cool air, and Arai felt a blow take him in the chest. He was thrown to the ground with a snap as his head smacked against the brick wall of the burning building. More bullets ripped bits of brick off the wall around him, and a young soldier moved quickly to pull him from the gunfire.

"God damnit!" Arai shouted as he checked himself. The vest had saved his life, but god damn did it hurt. He surveyed the building, and the surrounding buildings. There were gunmen on higher ground, and their positions were horribly compromised. There was no thought of retreat in his mind, he looked to his second in command asking an unspoken question.

"Eight dead, sir."

"Have heavy weapons lay down suppressing fire with the .50 cals. Move all sections to attack that position," he pointed his finger towards one of the two focal points of the revealed enemy resistance. "I want that building cleared."

His fellow nodded, and two dozen men were gathered to charge the building while a hellstorm of gunfire systematically ripped chunks of the wall off the building as six heavy machine guns opened fire from the warehouse 2A. They readied their weapons and grenades and set heel to dirt in a headlong charge.

Ochi watched as muzzle flashes illuminated dust which quickly clouded the area near the warehouses. Fireteam Ni reported over the headset that they were hidden in the shadows behind warehouse 4A and had found a rear entrence. Fireteams San and Si prepared to assault the enemy position, hoping that Arai's charge would provide an ample distraction for the nine men, when a rumble shook dust off the warehouse before them, followed by another.

"Ni! What the--" Ochi shouted into his mouthpiece while one of the men stammered to inform him that they were tossing grenades into the building. "God damnit, move move move!" The six men of San and Si hastily made their way across the open stretch of pavement and gravel. A gunman on the roof spotted the men, turning back to shout an alarm to his comrades. A bullet fired by the female marksman from Iti caught him in the neck, cleaving through his spine and throwing his head off his shoulders.

Four helicopters approached the bleack landing surface of the Mt. Ijek reseaarch facility. In them each carried twelve of the finest men the Illuminate could send to kill Iseltov. Hovering over the landing pad and releasing ropes, the forty-eight men quickly moved to secure the entrance. Any personal security the Ozian had were obviously waiting inside. The SNLF were ready for an ambush, nothing here would be a surprise. The base had more radar than any other facility in Ozia, their approach was noticed. And thus, their tactics were required to be straight forward. Many of the men were Moacian born, the SNLF not bound to only those who served in the XGSDF but encompassing all those who had proven themselves fit to fight. These Moacians restrained their impatience, knowing full well they would have their revenge. The Xyraeli's in the unit knew their comrades wishes, and had secretly vowed with each other that no man found was to be spared. They were all traitors to the Emperor.

Chūsa Akagi had been chosen to lead these men in the execution of Iseltov. A similar strike force had successfully taken La'haid, killing thirty seven scienties and eighty two dock workers, but Sevda Iseltov had not been found. This Iseltov would not escape. The doors opened after four attempts to hack the digital lock, and the men heaved grenades containing chlorine gas into the lobby of the base.

Iseltov and a few other head Scientists watched the cameras as the 48 men came into the lobby base entrance. He smiled as they threw in poisonous gas into the rooms. The other scientists were puzzled with his smile and one asked, "Why are you smiling?"

"Because, Do you think they have enough gas to gas all the rooms?"

The scientist thought of this, "You know, you're right, going to take them awhile isn't it?"

"Yeah, just make sure nobody ventures out and all the traps are set, this won't be easy for them...."

Iseltov turned on the intercom of the base and in his voice he said in Xyraeli, "Welcome to the Mt Ijek base, please enjoy your stay and if you'd like to live, best that you stay in that lobby. "

He nodded to his scientists then after he turned off his intercom system, "You have Pressure Room and Biological rooms ready correct?"

They nodded, "All set up sir..."

----------

Just then in the Lobby several Smoke bombs were set off and streams of mist filled the room. An Ozian Tossed a grenade in the smoke and shot his pistol randomly from the door's entrance. Bright flashes throughout the smoke indicated where he was and then he disappeared, running somewhere.

That was three men the Section had lost so far, counting the one wounded.  Tulin was the only one from her fireteam still able to fire a weapon, and had scored at least one hit when the six Xyraelis they had pinned down began rushing at them.  Three Xyraelis had gone down in that charge; both falls had been inaudible.  None of these fallen were attended by their comrades, who seemed hell-bent on taking 4A.

Tulin felt the warehouse shake beneath them, and realized that they had finally been outflanked.  The other Sections had repelled one attempt with indirect fire, but three Xyraelis had reached the buidling with their frontal assault (they had reached the point where it became impossible to fire at them), and apparently there was another fireteam lobbing grenades at the building.  Tulin led the remaining members of the other fireteam down the stairs, and carried Jalel.  There was no more they could do on the roof.  They would try to stop the Xyraelis from entering, at the very least.

The other six members of the Section had, once the shooting on the roof began, followed the pre-arranged plan.  They had used the secret enterance to disappear into the alleys between the warehouses, specifically the alleys between warehouse 4A and 4B and 3A.  One fireteam per alley.  When they spotted the Xyraelis lobbing grenades into 4A and others charging the building, they knew it was time to take action.  They knew that whatever was left of Fireteams A and B would defend the building; their job was to take the Xyraelis by surprise.

And so they did.  One fireteam fell upon Ni from the flank, coming from the shadows and catching one Xyraeli in the neck before the others got under cover and began shooting back.  One member of Ni had a superficial wound on his arm.  The other fireteam weren't so lucky.  The Xyraelis they attacked were primed with adreneline, and where able to hear them coming.  The woman they killed managed to take a Xyraeli with her, but the two fireteams seemed locked in a stalemate as each of them took cover.  The Sections in the flats were put on alert to prepare to recieve Xyraeli reinforcement.

OOC: The total is now:
Gelibolu: 4 casualties out of a total force of 48 (44)
Xyrael: 13 casualties out of a total force of 60 (47)

The SNLF personnel within the Mt. Ijek complex peered through the eerie smoke. The emergency power lights was the only lighting the illuminated the gas which covered the floor in an eery fog. It felt serene for a moment, as though they were standing within a graveyard at night. Only this wasn't a graveyard, this was a madmans lair, and they were the vindicating angels of Light come to wrest the souls of the wicked and raise them into salvation.

So many rooms to choose from, so many pathways and rooms to be ambushed in. The infared scopes peered through the rooms and soft bootsteps carried the men in groups of 6 to doors, twelve men staying to watch the entrance. The men swiftly moved to secure the rooms before them as well as the hallways which catacombed the mountain. Poking their rifles around corners to check if anyone was there, and meeting sporadic resistance and skirmishers, the soldiers slowly made their way deeper into the base.

Two full sections barreled down the center alley, taking cover behind dumpsters and inside entrance niches as gunfire from the flats pattered around them like rain from hell. Arai watched helplessly as his men from Takagawa's squad came under heavy fire. They charged through the door under the surprise attack, and gunfire inside the building continued. At least they were still shooting, it meant they weren't dead. The fireteam that had flanked them found themselves in turn flanked as the twenty four men opened fire on them from fifty yards, bullets turning two of them into semblances of Western modern art, while the third immediately ducked into a warehouse entrance.

Arai looked through the alley between 2B and 3B as the third section, assigned to maintain their hold on 1A, moved around the north side of the warehouses to flank the residential flats. They moved with vigor, and though they had lost two men to mortars they were unnerved. They quickly found themselves at the northern corner of 4B, watching as the 3 sections there came under fire from HMG's on the roof of 2A. There weren't enough guns to pin them down forever, they had to move. The lone section slipped quietly along seemingly unnoticed around the side of one of the residential flats. Arai heard the report, the men had found an unlocked window and had entered the building. Soon, they'd be moving to overtake the place. Arai began to pray. They'd need it.

Both the woman and man from fireteam Ni were injured. The man had been grazed by a bullet on the leg, the woman had taken one to the chest, knocking the wind out of her lungs with a glancing hit to her body armor. She took a moment to recuperate before looking at her comrade, his gun pointed to the back door as a bustle of footsteps charged down the stairs. He turned to open fire on the new arrivals, gunning down a man before a bullet caught him in the head. His body slumped down against the wall, and the men moved closer. She drew her rifle as gunfire outside ripped into the flanking fireteam. The footsteps stopped, startled at the sudden noise, and began to move towards the door. She lunged, opening fire wildly on the remaining remaining men, a dead woman lay on the stairs. They muttered choice curses in their native tongue and returned fire as they ducked behind crates. A grenade was lobbed through the air, clattering on the cement floor as it rolled to the Gallipoli soldiers, who kicked it away into an office room which summarily blasted into peices, burning documents and papers floated like ominous confetti amidst as the lone Xyraeli woman held her ground beside her dead comrade.

Outside, fireteams San and Si found themselves pitted against a single fireteam, they still had the numbers but their charge towards the warehouse was broken. They'd found a small gutter to duck behind, using it for a temporary trench. Ochi grabbed his radio, damning the book and shouting for reinforcements. "No! I don't give a damn if they're Gaeanist or if they Myrorian, if they've got guns and they want to help, send them here you incompetent clown!"

Command replied with several comments, followed by an acknowledgement. A platoon of Gallipoli i'va'ksh were on the way led by Chūi Aydin Koprulu.

And now the chaos outside had broken into 4A.  True, there were only two fireteams in combat inside the warehouse, but the fight was no less bitter.  Concrete dust choked Tulin and clouded her vision as she returned the fire the Xyraelis were pouring in on her position.  Two meters to her left, there was only one other Gelibolu standing, also returning fire.  Jalel, despite all her efforts, had been the first killed when the Xyraelis broke in.  Out of the corner of her eye, Tulin saw her comrade wildly kick at a grenade; it exploded in a side office, sending even more clouds of pulverized concrete into the air, and making the building shudder dangerously.

Tulin noticed the last Xyraeli soldier target her remaining comrade, and knew that her only opportunity was now.  Ignoring all the distractions, she picked her target and fired, catching the Xyraeli in the corotid artery.  She would be dead within minutes.  She nodded to her comrade, and they ran out of the building, moving from cover point to cover point towards the block of flats where the other three Sections lay, waiting.  They were the only Gelibolu survivers of the skirmish.

The shooting behind them had stopped by the time the four reached the block of flats, and an eerie silence reigned over the battlefield.  Tulin knew she would have to go back out there and assault a position she had helped to hold, a position the Xyraelis would hold with double the strength, this time without her dead and wounded comrades.  At least Jalel will be properly cared for she thought as she briefed Teğmen Tanju Yildiz on the situation.  The lieutenant barked out "I want 23 and 24 Rifle Sections ready to assault those warehouses; 8 Heavy Weapons section will provide covering fire for the assault.  Are you sure you want to go back there again, Onbasi [Tulin]?"

"Yes, sir.  We all do."

"If you wish."  To the general area he called out "And contact Headquarters for reinforcements!"

Chūi Aydin Koprulu turned to his men.  They had left the Checkpoint two minutes ago, coming up the road to the block of warehouses in full view of the Xyraelis.  Why not?  They had kept up the masquerade until now, the Xyraelis weren't aware of what was about to happen.  How could they be?  Before they had left, Aydin had told his platoon what this would mean: treason to Xyrael, with the death penalty the only punishment if they were to fail.  None had backed out of the mission they had chosen for themselves.  But they would not do anything just yet; better to first see what opportunities the Xyraelis would provide.

Per usual, the i'va'ksh were cast in a supporting role.  The HQ Section and one Rifle Section would occupy the warehouses while the other Rifle Section and the Heavy Weapons Section would join with the two Xyraeli sections in an assault on the block of flats in the northwest, which the Gelibolu were using as a base.  Not the best we could have hoped for, thought Aydin, but it could have been a lot worse.  The HQ and Rifle Section occupied Warehouses 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B, the four closest to the flats.  The Xyraelis took up positions behind the i'va'ksh Rifle and Heavy Weapons Sections, keen to use them as cannon fodder.

This Platoon-sized formation had advanced less than twenty meters towards the block of flats when Aydin told his Section leaders, by radio, to take action.  The formation had traversed another five meters when fire began pouring into the Xyraeli sections from the tops of the warehouses.  The two i'va'ksh sections, at this unmistakable signal, turned around and began attacking the Xyraelis as well.

The formerly silent battlefield became animated again with the joyful agony of death as these i'va'ksh made their loyalties known.  Aydin could barely see, issuing from the block of flats, Davet fighters advancing towards this talbleau, the few shots of friendly mortar fire petered off.

Casualties:
Gelibolu (excluding turned i'va'ksh): 10/48 (38)
turned i'va'ksh:12/60 (48)
loyal i'va'ksh: 180/180 (180)
Xyrael (excluding loyal i'va'ksh): 28/60 (32)

Arai let out a wild scream as he held the trigger down with all his might, letting his rage go on the damned bastards who would dare betray his Emperor.

click click click

He threw his gun at the i'va'ksh who stared in somewhat disbelief at the mans rage and his charge into their gunfire. Drawing his last hope, his katana, he sailed headlong into red hot lead that tore into his body armor and flesh, organs and bone. A young boy, barely seventeen, stood in his way, his jaw agape as the blade crashed into his skull, cleaving through his skull send bits of blood and brain into the air. The wild Arai took several more gunshots before his body lost its momentum and collapsed in a cloud of dust and splattered blood. His comrades, enraged now more than ever, did not spare a single shell of ammunition from their cartridges as they fired on the traitors, gunning down six more before a heavy machine gun set up behind a fence opened fire on those wretches. The remaining Xyraelis fell back into 4A, only to discover more traitors. The ducked back out to where the heavy machine gun opened fire, tossing several grenades into the first floor of warehouse 4A.

Ochi had taken a forward position ahead of the i'va'ksh, his honor was to lead the assault with his men, but as the traitors turned he realized his position, manuever, nay very life was forfeit. Death with honor. His men knew as well as he did, they charged to the flats without orders and without notice, guns strapped over their shoulders as they sprinted over rocky ground. Gunfire claimed the lives of two of them, and as they reached the flats they noticed the Gallipoli were prepairing for an assault. Ochi tripped over himself in surprise, the rest of the men taking his blunder as a sign to drop for cover. They quickly fired upon the Gallipoli who had begun moving from the buildings, gunning down any man they saw with extreme prejudice. It took the Gallipoli six deaths and two wounded to realize that they needed cover where there was none. They fell to the ground prone as the Xyraeli's had, taking what shots they could at each other.

Meanwhile, southeast of the warehouses, two platoons of loyal i'va'ksh could hear the fighting. Over their radio they listened in on the happenings, shocked at Aydins betrayal. They quickly relayed the information back to headquarters, which replied with a simple order. Maintain your positions at checkpoint. Artillery support inbound.

Despite the ferocity of the Xyraeli soldiers, who had inflicted far more casualties than expected, they were being driven into an ever-tightening pocket.  Aydin surveyed the scene with approval from the rooftop; beside him, his Section was taking potshots into the Xyraeli mass from 4A and 4B, the Xyraelis almost unable to do anything about it.  The other Section had been sent from the roofs to ground level in order to fully trap the Xyraelis.

There was no doubt in his mind, as he watched from 4B, that these Xyraelis were finished.

The two sections to which Tulin and her comrades were attached had expected a swift, easy march to where the i'va'ksh did battle with the Xyraelis.  They had expected to play a supporting role as the Xyraelis were surrounded and crushed.  However, there had appeared in front of them, as if from nowhere, another ten of the enemy.  Their swift fire had taken out several men of the two sections, filling the air with the stench of sulfur, cordite, and slowly drying blood.  The Davet fighters had fired back quickly, striking several Xyraelis before they could get back under cover.  Slowly, they were being pushed back toward the main fighting, but this trap...it made Tulin even more wary than she had been of what the Xyraelis were capable of.  They seemed to appear from the ground, from the very air.

Casualties:
Gelibolu: 14/48 (34)
turned i'va'ksh: 17/60 (43)
loyal i'va'ksh: 180/180
Xyraelis: 36/60 (24)

somewhere in Ozia:

Aygen had, after weeks in the desert, grown used to the burning expanse of sand, unshaded by buildings or even a stunted bush.  She had grown used to the grit that clogged her eyes and nose even through the headscarf she now wore everywhere to keep it out.  She had grown used to the loose-fitting robes that she wore in place of her old costume.  And she had grown used to the travelling, the constant thirst, the closeness that existed between everyone in their band, closeness that was a necessity in a world where other human contact was few and far between.

Her leg was healed now, she could follow the Sancta without the need for a crutch, listening to her speak, softly, persuasively, to any other small group they happened to come across.  Aygen always felt left out at these meetings; they all seemed to know each other, as though these meetings had happened hundreds of times before and would happen a hundreds more.  So she stayed by the Sancta and her brother, watching, listening, doing whatever task her much expanded, but still limited, Ozian vocabulary permitted.

Strelok laid his Iseltov against the cave wall, the fire was dim and most everyone was sleeping. However he did notice how Aygen slept on her side instead of her back, he thought this was a most unusual sight. He went to where she was resting and nudged her, saying in Ozian,  "Wake up, I want to show you something."

Aygen was half awake and agreed as she stumbled up in her loose robes. When Aygen was awake she noticed she was being led down a dark tunnel. The torch Strelok held only provided a minimal amount of light in the pitch darkness. Then when he stopped, he said, "You hear?"

Something odd was about this sound, something that sounded familiar to her, but was it really that? She looked around him and saw the flowing water. An opening from a pipe that was made out of a concrete sort of mixture, the architecture looked old and Ozian writings were scribbled on the sides of it. Then Aygen heard Strelok's words, "Ozia used to be a great, wealthy, and powerful Empire. Even then the Moacians were only this small sect of people under us. The Emperor about 1000 years ago ordered these Aqueducts to be built randomly around the deserts. This was one of them and here you see the Zuavka Plant growing near it. You see, many do not know the origin of zuavka, but if you take a bit of zuavka and put it next to water in a dark area, it will grow. Hardly do you ever taste wet zuavka, personally we're all used to dried zuavka so we let them dry in the sun for a day. However, I wanted to show you this to read to you what this says on here." He pointed to what the text said, "The Blind feel Gaea's Spirit more than anyone else"

Strelok smiled, "I'll have to ask my sister about that..."

Sevda put her Sword back in her hilt and grabbed an I-19 from the armory. It was odd how she was now going to shot the very gun her father designed. A Few other Ozians followed her as she went room by room in the facility gathering as many men and women possible. Already did she announce on the intercom that Xyraelis are now aggressive towards Ozia and supportive of Moacians. She thought perhaps a little motivation like that would influence some of them. She ran down the hallway noticing other Ozians breaking out of several other labs and offices. Continuing throughout the building she finally found the stairway where she would go down to the ground level. Which she instructed over the intercom. She had no idea what she was doing but she used her father's instincts in being inventive with everything you have. She however noticed she and her followers had probably been sitting around too long. Many of them were a bit out of shape being scientists and engineers and all. Though when she got to the bottom floor she saw probably 500 Ozians gathering around and more spilling in. From the dock area she saw some Ozian Mechanics beating Xyraelis with tools and wrenches. The many noticed her, being the daughter of Zuavka and with so many greeting her. She noticed the docks and was still cognitively analyzing her situation. It then struck her as silly as it seemed, would oddly work.  The Northern Fleet housed all of its vessels at the port she was standing in. She would sink as many ships possible and destroy the facility. Already fires were growing in the building but that would simply be put out, what they needed was explosives. Sevda shouted to the crowd, "Hush! Who here knows which ships are ready to go?"

As the Ozians whispered with each other a sole man yelled out, "Sevda, Sevda, I do! That Small Carrier there, that's ready to leave. Armed, Fueled, and fit for living conditions!"

"Good, I see I should no longer call you mechanics, assistants, and scientists now eh? My, My what a good day for Ozia my comrades! Finally we are in the final battles of the evil Moacians and the Imperial Xyraelis! Stand together and raise that Ozian birthed rifle! We will prevail! Now I should cut my inspirational speech to say Get on that boat, take spirit of this place, and kill those who try and stop us!"

The Ozians cheered as Sevda drew her sword, cut her hand, and drew blood onto the sword. An ancient Ozian ritual before battle, she then raised her sword up and said, "La'maeh Gaea Re Ozi!"

"Sir, the radio is picking something up at the north sea. I think you should listen to it."
Quote from: Iseltov Radio Contact
"Mt. Ijek what's your status, Mt. Ijeck..."

"We're holding off the Enemy, who is in contact?"

"This is the new Carrier Ev'saht of the newly formed Vlasif Nahad. Dira Sevda Iseltov requests correspondence with her father."

"Let us get him."

(moment's later)

"Iseltov Speaking..."

"Father... How are you doing?"

"I'm managing.... but in the end I believe my spirit is ready to return to Gaea."

(Static) "Father..."

"It's for the best my Sevda, I will unite with your mother at last after all this fighting. How're you doing?"

"We apprehended the Carrier of the Xyraeli Northern Fleet and destroyed most of their base... I'm heading west towards La Sava."

"In that case.. I'll send my pilots in their aircraft to your position, they'll do more good than what we have here."

"That'd be greatly appreciated... but... why can't you ..."

"Sevda, please understand this, it's for the best. Maybe if I'm dead they'll be satisfied..."

"Father, I love you."

"I love you too... (Static) Sevda?"

(static) "Father!?"

(static) "I'll be with your mother now..(static)"

(end line)

"Dire?" asked the radio operator.

Iseltov looked at him and said, "Cut all contact for now on. Send the pilots to the hangers so they can take off and meet up with my Daughter."

"Yes Dire," As he carried out his orders, Iseltov went back to his office where the other higher advisers waited his next move.

"Can we do a radioactive seal on all doors except the hanger?" he asked them.

The facility's infrastructure manager nodded to him, "Yes..."

"Do it then, then once we get word that the planes have left, seal the hanger too," Iseltov sighed and looked at each of them, all of them looking back at him with their maroon eyes. Their guns were around their shoulders and they knew now what was to be done. He nodded to them muttering, "It's time, get everyone ready to ambush them."

They all nodded and then one of them recited the ancient verse, "La'maeh Gaea Re Ozi." (Old phrase yelled aloud by Sap'Dire Araemik when at the Battle of Mera fighting the Praemorians. Means: Gaea's wrath from Ozian Hands)

Then Iseltov smirked finishing the phrase, "Per'ah Sankt Zha'rah erda Dae'moh" (To the divinity's scared spirit we return)

OOC: I'd like to move this conflict along, so I'm just going to encapsulate the results of the Davet-Xyraeli skirmish in a report.

IC:
Quote
Report by Lostromo Hadis Besikci to Military Commissar Rana Aras
As ordered, the remainder of 3 Company proceeded to reinforce the position of 9 Platoon.  By the time 3 Company arrived on the field, 9 Platoon had, in cooperation with a platoon of i'va'ksh, cleared the field of Xyraeli opposition at great cost to themselves.  Casualties from 9 Platoon amounted to twenty-one; reported casualties from the i'va'ksh platoon total 25.  Only three Xyraeli prisoners were taken, out of an estimated force of sixty.

Available force in the area thus amounts to 254 combat-ready soldiers.  The i'va'ksh have been integrated into 9 Platoon, with Aydin Koprulu taking the post of Tegmen.

Intelligence from Tegmen Koprulu suggests that Checkpoint Five is held by a force of about 180 i'va'ksh, possibly reinforced by artiliery.  Kaptan Zafer thinks, and I agree, that we should use our greater available force to take Checkpoint Five as soon as possible, before the i'va'ksh can be reinforced and before they begin extensive bombardment of Corlu.  I also recommend preparing to circulate the news of a victorious engagement between the isci battalions and trained Xyraeli soldiers as soon as possible, as a morale-boosting measure, and as a way to bring more i'va'ksh explicitly to our side.

Northern Seas
On the bridge a man hurried to Sevda saying, "Dira, there's a ship to the west, Small Merchant one."

She walked outside in a dark maroon robe viewing out to the distance, on the deck the aircraft from her father's boat had just landed. She saw the ship and then motioned for one of the binoculars. She took a closer look and saw the ship with more clarity. Noticing something strange about the ship she said, "Capture the ship, don't kill anyone though..."

The bridge hand bowed to her, "It will be so Dira..."

He radioed in to the ASW helicopter crew. Their pilot wasn't very fluent in the ways of driving a helicopter but he had learned to pilot the old cargo helicopter at the base. The Ozians replaced much of the equipment for passenger space and converted a tracking helicopter to a transport helicopter. His co-pilot didn't even know how to fly a helicopter but she did speak fluent Xyraeli, which helped the pilot who spoke not one word of the "vile language".

The pilot, Iade and the co-pilot Vera waited as some of the "SOSOT" troops came to the helicopter. Vera asked Iade, "What's SOSOT mean?"

Iade replied, "You missed the meeting?"

"Well... yeah, they bore me."

Iade paused, "From what I remember... (translated from Ozian) Silent Ops and Forces of Divine Ozia.... bunch of Assassins, tactical units, really... They're our only ground force at present though... About 30 of them anyway..."

Vera smiled sarcastically, "Sounds like a lovely trip... It's a shit's chance that we are the only damn helicopter available on this ship."

"I'm sure nothing will happen..."

Iade started the engines of the helicopter and waited for the rudders to rotate fully. As the 5 SOSOT agents climbed on board he let the engines pushed the rudders faster. The helicopter jerked forward then with the passengers feeling a bit uneasy. Vera looked at him saying, "If they don't kill us you will.."

Iade glared at her, "Shush."

As they gained speed towards the ship the passengers on the vessel had rifles at ready on them. However one of them yelled something in Ozian. Apparently they noticed on the side it wasn't a Xyraeli symbol but had the symbol of Gaea on the side. The Helicopter then uneasily floated towards the ship. Inside the craft the helicopter was shaking and tilting around but then the pilot managed to make the helicopter stay in a constant hover but over the edge of the ship. He tapped it backward a bit and then kept the helicopter steady. The five slid down a rope and met with them. One of the soldiers motioned to the pilot to land on the junk of a ship. He then pushed the end to align perpendicular with the ship so it wouldn't hit anything as he descended. Vera glanced nervously at him, "Don't Kill us!"

Iade rolled his eyes and kept descending and then suddenly dropped to make a successful but bumpy landing. The pilot turned off the engine and took his pistol from the compartment of the helicopter, Vera looked at him and said, "What do I get?"

Iade looked around, "Uhh,"

Vera glared at him, "Nevermind..."

Iade put the pistol in its holster and walked over to the SOSOT agents. Standing infront of them were many Ozians that spoke in a Nomadic accent, one of them said, "You are Gaean fliers?"

Iade nodded to them. Then came forward another nomad who seemed to be the leader, he presented himself as Vendecci.
Somewhere in the Desert
Sancta Adara was what they called her, the mass of 2,000 nomads spoke out her name in the night as the blind prophet passionately shouted out, "People of Gaea's Sacred Sand! The great spirit less souls of the western regions and their ripe lands have gone sour to our tongues. Xyraelis do nothing to separate us! If they dispose our armies for their empire they must be afraid Ozians! We are the keepers of this land, we have divine right of this land and we will take it by the blood's full Spirit! Unite children of Gaea, not to ruin Xyraelis, not to gain power for ourselves, and not to establish a new nation of Ozians. What we face is Divine War! War that Gaea herself breathes in! Fear not our passage! Fear not the feats! Gaea's sacred desert accepts only us Ozians and chooses who it keeps alive! Do you not know that even when they the enemy of the west tried to take and murder all Ozians they were stopped not by our guns... but by our lands? The Desert ate them! For they are entities without souls. With Gaea's blood we're to sacrifice our lives so that this desert remain ours. Pai'hulu accepts this!"

The nomads looked up at her and raised their rifles in the air, the wind around them blew over them in a gust, a sign that Gaea had passed through them at that very moment. They knew what they had to do.

The Northern Seas
"Dira, the..." the aide guessed, "Captain of the vessel."

She nodded to him and said, "Leave him with me."

Vendecci stepped in putting down the hood of his robe. He was about to speak when Sevda put her finger over his mouth, "Don't say anything..."

She removed her finger and walked to the middle of the conference room, hopping onto the table instead of taking a seat and dangling her legs on the side of the table freely as if she was a little girl.

Vendecci almost spoke one word but then she glared at him, "Not one word, to answer some questions.. I am Dira Sevda Iseltov, I am the daughter of the man who designed the rifle you're holding, and this is a commandeered Xyraeli Carrier. I plan on liberating La Sava, now... I think we will need use of your ship.. Now you may speak"

Vendecci smiled, "I have nothing to say."

Sevda smiled back and hopped off the table to kiss his left cheek, "It's nice to meet you"

Vendecci nodded back at Sevda, "After you liberate La Sava, what shall you do?"

Sevda grimaced and boldly stated, "I'm going to teach those Moacian Bastards a lesson. Doubtless you wish the same?"

Vendecci silently rasped, "Yes.."

Sevda looked at him in his maroon eyes, "Are you ok."

Vendecci choked up, "I'm fine.."

"Good, then will you lead that vessel into harbor, we will strike at late night. When the moon almost exits the sky."

Vendecci assured Sevda, "I will do what is needed."

At times like this, Adara usually stood upon some raised surface, usually a small outcropping of rock, addressing the people in front of her.  Aygen usually stood in front of the rock, slightly to the left, with another member of the group (today it was Strelok) taking a similar position on the right.  Aygen's function was to protect the Sancta and watch for any signs of trouble.  So far there had been none, but this was the largest crowd that Adara had addressed to date, and anything could happen.

Aygen scanned the crowd restlessly.  She wasn't as moved as they were by Adara's speech; the Gelibolu had been isolated by the Ozian-Moacian conflict by their earlier occupation, though they had taken the side of the Ozians in the earliest years of the wars.  Aygen had yet to sense Gaea in the way that her companions seemed to do, but she could feel a tension in the air that had nothing to do with the content of Adara's speech.  It centered not around her words, but around her presence.  Aygen shook her head, dismissing the feeling as nothing but nervous anxiety, and turned back to the crowd.

Strelok turned in early that night, the great crowd tired him and he would have to try and lead the same crowd in the morning through training. Though there would probably be a lesser number than those that showed up. Some remained ignorant, some formed their own groups, and then the rest would join their group. He kissed Adara on the left cheek and then he kissed Aygen's forehead before he went to sleep. He was practically dragging his body. However before Aygen could do anything Adara showed her eyes at Aygen and said, "Aygen, we have not talked one on one in awhile, will you follow me out to the desert night? Be sure to wrap up though, it is cold though it wouldn't seem it until you walked out. Gaea at the beginning kept you alive, we were about to kill you but she said something against it. I wonder if Strelok also felt it about you. Please would you escort me?"

"I would be honored, Sancta," said Aygen, pausing to grab a cloak and drape it over herself before taking Adara's arm and following her outside.  Aygen wondered why she used the title; she had never used it before.  Adara had always been Adara.  Perhaps it was the enormity and enthusiasm of the crowd that had made Aygen more aware of the power Adara held, or perhaps it was Aygen herself, becoming more aware of Aygen's spiritual power.  The two emerged into the still night, the wind blowing gently now, the sky, far from any cities, aglow with stars.  It seemed a night in which secrets could be shared, truths discovered.

"Strelok has told me how close you felt to Gaea," began Aygen, searching for the words "how you...hear her more clearly than the rest of us.  I know that even if she speaks to me, I'm not sure I could understand, not yet.  What plans do you think Gaea has for me?  For you?"  As Aygen watched, Adara seemed to withdraw into herself.  Her hand, instead of resting on Aygens, now clutched it with a powerful grip, as if reflecting the concentration its owner felt.  Aygen tried to pass her doubts, her uncertainties, and her hopes into Adara's consciousness through this grip, through the tension she felt in her body, tension left over from the streets of Laen'ka.

Adara smiled and felt the cool breeze hit against them, the warmth of her hands comforted Adara, "Like my brother and most of the people I speak with, they think such a thing. You see, Gaea is what you feel in your spirit and those that hear me speak feel their spirits move inside them. They then have their spirits move towards a divine path which they think I have achieved. I am no closer to Gaea than some think but I use what I feel. Me being blind must have something to do with it. As to answer your questions about Gaea, what you feel in yourself determines that. The great genius inside you and within you that moves. We have many plans for ourselves and Gaea never infringes you for such. However, Gaea never has a specific need, more what you must do to better yourself, better the tribe, and better Ozia. Now... I never heard of your times in Laen'ka, what were you there, tell me about it."

Aygen took a deep breath and remained silent for a few seconds.  What could she tell Adara?  And why did she want to know?  She exhaled, and her breath formed a faint cloud in the air, one more sign of the dropping temperature.  "Where to begin?" said Agyen out loud.  "My life was...regimented--is that the word?  Highly structured.  I woke up, left home, broke rocks for hours and went back.  There was much fear, especially for someone like me.  Wait, I'm going about this all wrong...

"I was a member of an opposition group.  We fought Xyraelis, and some of us hated them.  When I was out on the street, under the eyes of Xyraeli soldiers, with not real protection against a beating, or rape, or torture...that's the fear I felt.  And not only for me; for my friend Mualla and her small son, for anyone who they might find out had contact with me.

"I wonder what happened to them..." she trailed off miserably, tears tracing faint lines down her dust-covered face, and splashing onto the parched ground.

Adara could hear her soft sobs and she kissed her left cheek lightly, "I'm sure you left them strong, they are probably equally worried about you..."

La Sava
The small merchant vessel eased into the port, as it was about to fully dock a few Xyraeli Soldiers hopped onto the vessel. On top was the whole crew, standing there awaiting the clearance to leave. One of the soldiers called out, "Where's your captain?" They looked at him still and then when he was about to repeat it, out of the bridge came Sevda. However she was dressed not in Ozian clothes, but the clothes the captain wore. She walked down the steps and she extended some papers. One was a "notification" of the Captain's leave of vacation. The soldier looked at it and said, "He left his only ship to you?"

Sevda smirked, "Yes, his mother died and he didn't want to miss the big sale."

However the rest of the Ozians on board had no clue what they were saying. They spoke not one word of Xyraeli and only half knew Moacian. Sevda knew Xyraelis couldn't tell the difference between Ozians and Moacians.

The Xyraeli Soldier blinked his eyes, "I'll assume he forgot his seal or he doesn't have one, you Moacians are always forgetful. Anyway... Search the ship for anything, shouldn't take more than 10 minutes miss."

As the soldiers walked to the cargo bay they opened some of the crates to find old fish and rotting tomatoes. One of the soldiers had to hold himself in and the other said, "I assume you need to dump these too... I'll get you a warrant."

Sevda smiled at Vendecci who winked back at her. She then proceeded to walk off the hull. She ordered one of the crew to lock the cargo as she walked off the ship. Vendecci walked beside her and the rest of the crew walked with her, she was about 10 in number. They exited the dock and eyed many of the other Ozians in the crowd who were surprised to see them walk out of the dock. Sevda stopped and said to them in Ozian, "Find some Ozians to stay with, meet with me at the hotel at mid day in three days. Gather as many to join a resistance and then choose the best soldiers from that to join us. See to it that we get our cargo "dumped". La'maeh Gaea."

The others nodded to her, "La'maeh Gaea"

"I hate salt water" he groaned, half to himself. Which made his previous carrier in the Imperial Marines that much more perplexing.
Didn't matter though. He had been told to contact the Gallipoli and work with them, and that was what he was doing.
It didn't matter if the leader of this insurrection didn't trust him. His job was to earn that trust.

He peered through the shadows, the radar station nestled between rocks on an otherwise barren island.

"Time to get underway" he thought to himself, unsealing the explosives from their water-proof packaging.

OOC: Added to 12/3/07, 2:12 pm, EST

IC:
A lone Xyraeli guard made his way back and forth on a catwalk giving him full view of the beach in front of him.

Quietly Ares scaled the rock formation the facility was nestled against. A surveillance camera kept watch on the roof.
Hidden behind a large, jagged rock Ares pulled a handheld electronic device from his left sleeve pocket, undoing the waterproof seal.
After being switched on, a red dot began flashing just right of centre on the screen.
Ares entered a code, and the red dot's flashing sped up, finally going out all together. The facility's outer surveillance system had been fried.
It was meant to look like a malfunction to the guards inside to avoid the tightening of security, but that also meant someone would be out shortly to try and get the system back up and running. He had to move fast.
Stuffing the device into one of his many pants-pockets leaped onto the roof of the building, jumped onto the catwalk, and took the guard out in the back of the head with his silenced Hanso PPK.

Suddenly he heard the sound of boots scaling the outside staircase. Quickly he rummaged through the dead guard's pockets, finding a key.
Turning a corner he saw a door marked with a lightning bolt. The key fit, and he ducked inside.
As soon as the door closed he could hear Xyraeli voices. Fluent in that language, Ares knew they had found the dead guard.

Looking around he saw a second door, no doubt leading to the facility itself. He also saw what appeared to be a switch box and a generator.
"Central Control....Maintenance...." Ares quickly scanned the labels next to the switch box's many switches.
"Open!" a loud Xyraeli voice yelled, followed by the sound of a fist banging on the door.
"Bloody hell" he thought to himself, attaching an explosive to the box, before attaching an other to the generator in the corner. One was set for eight seconds, the other five.

Kicking open the door leading to the facility's interior, Ares drew his weapon and shot the first person he saw, a technician. He then darted for the end of the hallway as surprised Xyraeli guards rushed after him. Seconds latter an explosion rocked the room, and other then the flames, the facility was thrown into darkness.
Ares dove around a corner as Xyraeli voices from all directions called out in confusion.

Ares pulled a pair of goggles from an other pocket, slipping them over his eyes. They were very basic night-vision goggles, just addiquit enough for him to get around. Drawing his PPK again, he opened a door ready to shoot, only to find it empty. Putting the pistol away he looked for anything that would help him determine where the central control room was. He found that "something" in the form of a fire escape map. Central control was just at the other end of the hallway.

Slowly opening the door he watched as two Xyraeli soldiers rushed past, not noticing the slightly ajar door in the near pitch black surroundings.
Quietly he made his way to the end of the hall he spotted a door marked "AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY" in Xyraeli. Flanking the door were two Xyraeli soldiers.
Ares pressed himself up against the left wall of the hallway, slowly inching himself closer to the door.
Quietly he drew his pistol, keeping it as flat against the wall as possible. When it was fully extended he tilted it slightly and shot the first guard. Before he was even sure he hit the ground, Ares took out the other. Quickly he checked his surroundings. Nothing.
He grabbed the limped body of one of the guards, and using it as a shield, kicked in the door. Bullets instantly hit the dead soldier's body, as Ares threw it into the soldier shooting at him.
An older man in uniform went for his sidearm, Ares elbowed him in the nose, driving the naval bone into the brain. Finally he shot the remaining soldier, trapped under the body of his dead comrade. He heard screaming and the sound of boots running. Slamming the door shut, he pushed a filing cabinet into the door.
Looking around he saw posters of wanted Gallipoli revolutionaries. As fists banged on the door, Ares went through the filing cabinet, finding files on seemingly everyone within the rebellion's top ranks, and reports detailing the structure of the Gallipoli's "party."
Suddenly bullets started hitting the door.
"Time to get going then" he thought to himself. Going through the pockets of the dead soldier who had been shooting at him, he found a lighter. Using it he set the files ablaze. Then he kicked open a panel on the central control hub, and placed an explosive set for three minutes next to a set of wires and panels.
---------------------------------------------------
The Xyraeli guards finally got the door open, only to be greeted with a wall of fire.
Through the flames the CO could make out the flashing of a timer, as it reached three seconds, two seconds, one second, then double zero.
---------------------------------------------------
A patrol boat flying the naval jack of the Xyraeli empire was rocked by the explosion coming from the island it had just left.
Ares, wearing a spare uniform found below deck, was steering the boat back to the Gallipoli mainland, in his hand clutched the dog tag of the older man he had killed in the central control room, the CO of the station.
The boat and uniform would allow him to get close enough before he could disappear back into Constantinople's underworld.

"Easy now" Ares remarked, as the two Gallipoli guards patted him down.
The one who seemed to be the senior of the two nodded to him, holding his PPK. There was no way there were going to trust him with his weapon while he was in with Yusuf.

The guard nodded him in.
Yusuf looked up from the map he was studying.
"It's done" Ares informed him.
"And here's the proof" he continued, dropping the dog tags of the radar facility's CO.

"You've done well, Mister Ares," began Yusuf.  "This will be a great help to our cause."  Yusuf kept his sentences curt, simple, willing himself not to reveal too much.  To him, this had been a test, not only of Ares' ability, but of his trustworthiness.  No doubt Ares knew, or guessed, this, and had acted accordingly; Yusuf would have trusted him more if he'd been less successful, but this seemed almost too good to be true.  And of course, there was always the matter of finding something else useful for Ares to do.

"Mister Ares, I will not decieve you; it will be impossible for us to get you home until Corlu is free from Xyraeli encirclement.  This cannot happen without at least some sort of action in other cities, particularly Marmara Eregli or Tekirdag.  This in turn cannot happen until at least one of two things come to pass: either our forces make a break in the Xyraeli lines, or we're able to broadcast over the radio.  The Xyraeli jamming station is on the outskirts of Marmara Eregli, on the west side of the town.  Will you be able to shut it down as effectively as you did the radar station?"

Sevda sat in her Hotel room watching the television, the Xyraeli programs were reporting the new birth of the Mor'osi Heirs, the Emperor and Empress were on a bed with their children in her arms. She some what smiled at this humorously, I know my ambition will be accomplished when I have the opportunity to meet those babies, the story continued with Xyraeli rubbish about a safe city, and apparently they found more of her family. However what was also big was the continuation of her father's death. On the news they made it a victory but to many of the people it was a tragedy. She now realized the true power her father held not only through business but with the people. The story of killing millions of Moacians made him a great Martyr figure. She slightly teared at his image and her mother's memory.

A pattern of knocks on the door broke her train of thought as she sat there on the bed motionlessly. The knocks were struck again and this time she remembered. She walked to the door to see people she knew and people she didn't know.

They all walked in greeting her and kissing her, the last one was Vendecci who shut the door and kissed her on both cheeks. He continued to say, "We got the arms into Warehouse 517."

She nodded, "good, very good..."

An adviser by the name Kali Vastavi, took off her headdress and noticed Sevda's face, "Something the matter?"

With a desperate grin Sevda remarked, "I'm fine thank you. Well... what are our stats?"

Vendecci introduced the men she had not met before, "This here is General Haer le'mafta, former officer in the Ozian Legions and now General of the La Savan Militias, they are about 5,000 in number. They have 3,000 IA-7s, 1,000 I-19s."

She nodded to him, "Our militia force is only 5,000?"

Vendecci, with a sorrowful voice said, "unfortunately many are afraid about doing anything, many of the volunteers fought under General Haer and with action he was convinced more would follow. Sevda respectfully eased herself and grinned to the General, "I understand"

Vendecci continued to introduce the next man, young but seemingly reliable, "This man is Dire Ka'labib, he organizes many black market deals, he thinks he could get some arms from other nations... Now... What do we have exactly, they've been dying to know."

Sevda grabbed a clipboard and began reading off the list, "About 7 thousand men, 20 deployed on La Sava for Covert work, the rest on the Carrier. 27 Aircraft, 20 fighters, 3 make-shift bombers, 1 helicopter, and 2 reconnaissance planes. 5 Napalm bombs, about 200 missiles were on the ship for the planes, and crew members have begun making makeshift bombs. One of the planes from Mt. Ijek brought a biological warhead, Anthrax. Currently under sealed storage on the ship. I will most likely disband of it... An I-19 for everyman, a few Anti-Air launchers and a few Anti-Armor Missile launchers. However we only brought about 5,000 I-19 and ammunition from the ship."

The two men seemed worried, the General blurted, "We were told that you had more... This island is not just an infantry garrison, we yet to solve the problem of their armor divisions."

Sevda barked back, "Well, I guess we should build a maze... oh yeah, I was also provided with 30 flags of divine Ozia, though an archaic practice, a flag man will stir up some to join use. Burn every Xyraeli flag you see, kill every Moacian you see. We can't risk anything."

They all nodded, Kali asked, "When do we attack?"

Sevda walked to the window and sat by it while the others listened on, she pointed outside at an officer on a street corner, "When that man is dead."

The Ozians carefully edged to the window to see what Dire Sevda was talking about, there on the street corner was an officer that looked like he had a high officer ranking, he was talking to a group of soldier that were patrolling the area. As they looked on Sevda walked back with a sordid grin on her face, At once the Ozians were astonished the man who was directing the soldier suddenly stopped. With a closer look he apparently fell down and the soldiers he was just ordering sought cover. They looked back at Sevda one after the other wondering what just happened, she remarked to them, "Go already, send your soldiers to the Warehouse. We have a city to take."

ooc: As far as I can tell, Oz will be gone for an indeterminate amount of time (longer than even I). The following action was unplanned, but should he return new plans will be made. This is permanent.

ic:
Governor Aki's burgundy eyes slowly browsed over the documents, an idle pen in her hand as she sat within the main office of the embassy within Ozia City. A cloudless desert sky brooded over the shanty, undeveloped city. Construction of numerous factories had ground to a halt upon the Ministry of Industries orders, thousands of workers fired and left jobless along with tens of other occupations. The quiet skeletons of the buildings a testament to Ozia's failure as a Xyraeli colony. Imports from the rest of the Imperial colonies had been rerouted to provide Moacia with the ability to provide her people with a meager existence, plague now ravaging the population as people continued to die from residue of the Ozian bio attack. Aki was hardly surprised by the document, indeed pleased. She was finally permissed to leave this blasted wasteland, and the Embassy Guard new it. Xyraeli troops had been cycled out within the months before, leaving behind a scant force of 4,000 to hold Ozia city against guerilla's. They were to be replaced by Moacian Legionairres, but these men had scarcely left the side of their loved ones at home.

Aki picked up the phone and pressed four numbers, waiting several rings before hearing a voice. She leaned back in her chair, setting the heels of her shoes on the edge of her desk as she held the folder in front of her. "Have you read this?" she inquired.

"Not yet. What does it say, madame Governor?" was the response.

"Quite a lot actually. I'd rather you read it, you're not supposed to ignore urgent messages."

"Well, I've been busy."

"Your secretary can wait, buy her some new shoes. She'll enjoy them more." Aki heard only silence, so she decided to continue. "The cost for stationing those four thousand soldiers is more than I thought you know. The fewer you have, the more you realize each one is. These figures aren't appealing, costs for sending supplies to this damned place are far too high, especially with the revolt in Corlu cutting off the rail..."

"Aki..." the man spoke her name as if he had been waiting for these words. "You know exactly what I want to hear, tell me more Aki."

"Oh, save it for later. You can reward me on the plane," she grinned as she flipped through the pages. "Alright, here's the meat of it. 'By Imperial Decree'," she spoke as though she mocked the authority of the words, "'His Grace sees fit to cherish the lives of his people. All Xyraeli citizens stationed within the Ozian colony are hereby granted passage and lodging within the mainland of Xyrael. No longer do His beautiful subjects needs to scratch a living within the unfit Ozian colony, nor deal with the ill mannered people that reside in this colony. His Illuminate Eminence calls for all government members to ensure that all Xyraeli citizens are processed and admitted. All soldiers, workers, and citizens of the Empire are hereby banned from visiting, trading with or fraternizing with the State or citizenry of Ozia. All Ozian citizens are to be expelled from Illuminate lands, never to be permitted to return. The Ministry of Industry shall hereby sever all economic links with the Ozian people. The Diplomatic Bureau shall hereby withdraw all diplomatic personnel within Ozian lands, and sever existing ties. The Illuminates armed forces within Ozia are hereby recalled to reinforce forces of the Illuminate within Laen'ka. The Illuminate refuses to recognize any self-governing entity which claims to lord over the Ozian people, and will not suffer terrorists. The Iseltov family and accomplices are convicted by Imperial tribunal for the mass murder of eight million two hundred forty seven thousand ninety one loyal Illuminate citizens. Death is not sufficient enough punishment for these souls. The Emperor hereby calls upon the Grace and Justness of the Light to condemn these guilty men to a life of torment, pain, suffering, and darkness, renewed and refreshed every moment by the memories of lost loved ones and failings in life. It is clear that the Ozian people have not been, are not, nor will they ever be fit to be subjects to his Benevolence. His Divinity no longer sees need to suffer their kind.'"

"...wow."

"I think he rambled a bit too much, I'd like to see him in a room with that geezer Iseltov!" Aki jested, her red blouse complimented the touch of red on her face as she flushed with an eagerness to leave.

"What do you think's going to happen to this place?"

Aki looked out the window as dust settled on the blue horizon, staining the air a filthy brown. "I don't care. Hopefully they rot. I just want to get home, see some trees. You would've thought these people could at least build a decent park."

She could hear a muffled chuckle. "Yes, but I'll definetly be on that plane with you."

"You better be, that flights nine hours long. I need some company."

"The last time I gave you company on a plane the waitress knocked on the door!"

"That's not my fault! Besides, this planes an official government plane. The only waitress on board won't bother us this time..." she smiled. Time to go home...
