Project Outreach
« on: March 21, 2007, 11:41:33 AM »
The director of the Ozian Aeronautics and Engineering (OAE), recieved a folder on his desk the morning he got up. The cover of it said "Project Outreach" and he flipped the page to look at its author, Sun Dao'va Yer'as'to. The man had spent many years of his time working in his office but no one knew what. The folder had more papers than he had ever seen. Much of the blueprints were in his name and it looked like he was the only one that worked on the assignment.

"Secretary, get me the council and Sun Dao'va"

"On my way."

The director headed for the council room where he and the other council members were already there and had taken a seat. Sun Dao'va came in with much of his things and said, "Is this about my project?"

"Yes it is, care to explain it to me and the rest of the council?"

"Yeah... ok..."

He got his copy of the project out of his bag and asked the council, "What do you want to know?"

"What is it about?"

"That'd take awhile to explain to you sir, more than a month I'm sure."

"Give me the gist of it."

Sun Dao'va sighed and said, "Imagine director, we could travel to Beta Solaris, in 100 years. I am proposing a new propulsion, one that would surpass our conventional ones except for take off. I call it External Pulsed Plasma Propulsion. The rocket itself uses nuclear explosions for thrust while in space of course.. I only ask for council support and my own project that's ran by me to build a prototype."

"This looks like a very expensive project Dao'va... What are your estimated costs."

"I'm not sure..."

The director sighed and then he remembered something his father always told him 'What's the best thing that can happen and what's the worst.?'. "Will the council hold a vote?"

The room turned silent and people agreed to this. "Yes?"
half the room raised their hands.
"No?"
The other half raised their hands. When counted it was exactly a tie.

"In the event of a tie the decision rests upon the director..." the council member said.

The director looked at the man that was in front of him. Never would he had to deny a project or even think about it. But he had some faith in this one. "It's a go Dao'va. Gather up a team. You got 1 year for planning and building. I want a prototype as soon as possible you understand?"

"Yes Director."

"Give us results and not excuses. I want a weekly report of every event that takes place. I want to know everything that's going on. Now go gather your team."

Dao'va smiled and walked out of the door to go gather up his team.

Week 01
Inside a conference room (translated from Ozian)
"People, people," yelled Dao'va, "Shush."

The room got silent and the 10 other scientists were confused about what was going on. They waited for Dao'va to speak and tell them why they called them in.

"Nuclear Scientists, Chemical Engineers, Rocket Scientists, Physicists, and Mechanics. Hear me on now I call upon you to take on one of the greatest pushes of mankind," he started to hand them all the large packet of his plans, "We are all brought here today for Project Outreach, the project for Nuclear Pulse Propulsion. In my 10 years here as a Physicist I have come up with an idea, an idea that would make our rocket the fastest to any of the other foreign bastards. A rocket of great potential and a rocket that can travel to the closest star system to us in 100 years. My colleagues, my friends I ask you to take part in this project because you're the greatest of the great. With our combined brain power we need to come up with plans for a prototype within a year."

The room grew hesitant as the scientists and mechanics in the room began to chatter around, "Hush now, we haven't any time to waste then. who is in?"

Many of the Ozians sighed but despite this still rose their hands. "Good."

"Tomorrow," Dao'va said, "Meet me here in the morning. We're going to start up the blackboard process, revise my propositions, and begin planning out mechanisms for the spacecraft.

Week 03
Journal Entry of Dao'va, (translated from Ozian)

After 2-3 weeks and lots of arguing we have all finalized that the engine would have three sections to it. A Propulsion Module, Propellant Magazines, and a Payload section. We yet to conclude what sort of metal we will use. Many have speculated that we might have to use fusion-boosted fission explosions to a Pusher plate. We still wonder what this pusher plate will be made up of. Except we need to make sure this pusher plate is made up of something strong and firm, something that can handle the intensity of the Nuclear pulses. Ablation is a serious issue when it comes to the pusher plate and we yet to find out what sort of metal will be suited for the task. Steal is proposed but it Ablates 1mm.

STIA Headquarters at St Oz City Translated from Ozian
"Dao'va, please do come in, I love this idea of yours! It's all so great!"

"Thank you Mei, I came up with it while having some coffee, just had to find some way to hurt those Myrorians."

"Just think of this, Myroria and especially the Hanso company is wasting their time and money on a worthless project."

"I can't believe you chose a project that even our scientists dismissed because of all the problems it had. You have done well Sun Dao'va, this is why I'm promoting you to Administrative Agent Class 1. Good work and here's a bonus, spend it on gambling, a new house, anything you want. You very well deserve it because even the Pri'mav is praising you. Giving out information to Myroria and making them jealous of our "accomplishments". This could amount to the total Bankruptcy of Myroria and its companies."

"Thank you Mei. I gladly do my service to Ozia."

Mei bowed, gave him the envelope, and said, "Here go spend it or save it."

Dao'va bowed back and walked out of the room with a great smile on his face.
