The Imperial palace appeared ablaze blanketed in the morning sunlight. Alexus gazed from the long windows in his chambers down to the riverbank at the bottom of Palace Hill, and then along the meandering river as it weaved into the modern towers of Central Topeii downstream. The Prince had always preferred the traditional elegance the older districts of the city had to offer, but he had to admit these looming giants dominating the skyline were demonstrations of Latican economic triumph.
As Alexus allowed his thoughts to wonder back to the present, an entourage of servants entered the room carrying several leather chests. They set them down in front of the Imperator-to-be before opening them up, revealing his very own ornate traditional military dress, worn by the national monarchs upon their coronation. Alexus inspected the many precious items he was required to wear, this would take some time...
Meanwhile Dux-Imperatia-Conjux Servia, mother to the ascending Prince, was sweeping down the Entrance Hall steps of the Palace, on her way to greet the first of the guests. It was a beautiful day outside, and as such it had been decided that the ceremony shall take place in the Garden Pavillion, a most favourite spot for previous ascensions. Servia couldn't help but reminisce from her own husband's coronation some thirty years ago. She wished for him now.
She paced towards the front door as aides straightened her official dress. She made it outside atop the front door steps just in time to see the first black state car enter the inner Palace Gates.
So the day begun.
-
As the black state car entered the gates, Osafune III was awed at the sheer size of Collatica's Imperial Palace. It dwarfed the Collosean Executive Palace. Just one of the Imperial Palace's wings could take up the area of the Executive Palace, and then some.
The car came to a stop close to the front door steps. Osafune III got out of left side of the car and Philonexus II the right. The two saw a woman standing atop of the stairs in front of the door. Philonexus II remembered her from the hearing of the late Imperator's last testament. "That is Dux-Imperatia-Conjux Servia Draconia, Alexus's mother." He whispered to Osafune III as they began up the stairs. He gave a nod to Philonexus II.
"Good day, Mrs. Draconia. I'm Osafune III, Prime Minister of Collosea. I'm sure you remember Philonexus II from before?"
-
A limo, the hood ornament an elaborate representation of the Quarrovth eagle, glided to a stop in front of the Imperial Palace. The doors open, and, one by one, stepped out the Councilmen, in order of their seniority on it. Lastly, following his sister, stepped out Meneldur Tar-Ilium. He was wearing a navy blue dress shirt, a black coat, and - Oh my - a tie. Strangely formal for Meneldur, who would readily give speeches with a hint of fur slippers at the bottom of the television screen.
Pleasantly large, thought Emeraldea.
Meneldur took out his pocket watch. 8:03. He was three minutes late. Adjusting his hair (The back of which, let shoulder-length as was the style in Myroria, had curled up slightly.), Meneldur walked in. Serko Moritz Eduard was adjusting his thick, ornamented sash comprised of ivory blocks connected with maroon elastic. It had set him back a couple thousand Kolonialreich marks, his entire reward for moving up in rank from Upper Oathman to Councilman. Meneldur, and the rest of the Council, expected he would stop wearing his elaborate jewelery and even refuse the formality of Serko soon enough, as the more senior members had already done. But for now it was simply enough to smile, acknowledge his over-used Serkos, and move on. The rest of the Council shuffled in after Meneldur. Most were excited to see the Coronation Hall - to compare it to Myroria's, and comment on it. The comments were always "typical of outlanders to underspend" if it was cheaper than Myroria's, and "typical of outlanders to overspend" if it was nicer. But those would be saved for home - even the most self-righteous, pompus House Quarrovth knew better than to start international incident.

To the honored Dux-Imperatia Consortia Servia Draconia,
Salve et Feliem Diem!
I congratulate you on your son's ascension, and I will send a representative, my cousin Liu, to attend the occasion. I would come myself, but the current state of my homeland requires my constant presence. Once more due to the state of my homeland, this message may be a bit late in reaching you.

"Tle us mī sī us oim īn?" asked Yūmu Anlhī sitting in the back of the vehicle, engaging the faceless and nameless bureaucrat who had accompanied her this far in one final moment of casual conversation as they pulled up behind the other cars which had arrived ahead of them. The man simply shrugged, apparently not sharing her concerns.
"Shā bu. Dem, chas," as the car halted in front of the palace. Yūmu didn't bother to talk with him any longer. This was as far as he was going to go and what he thought was of no consequence to her. Instead she turned her attention to what lay outside of the window, investigating her surroundings and the people who populated it. She found herself most curious about those other delegates which had already arrived from abroad to witness the coronation. Yūmu recognized the face of Meneldur from Myroria, and instinctively frowned.
Then again she had not expected this to be some sort of gathering of old and trusted friends. Without waiting for the chauffeur she took the initiative and opened the door herself and exited the vehicle. Those who now saw her for the first time were presented with a woman in her mid-thirties, still attractive for her age. Her dark, straight hair was cut to shoulder length, left unbound in a nod to foreign fashion. The same could be seen in her choice of clothing, a modest and professional black suit consisting of a jacket and skirt. The expression of her face matched that of her outfit, detached and level headed.
Having taken a moment to put her hair and suit in order she now stepped forward to present herself to her host.
-
Liu checked his watch. 8:10. He was late. "We've arrived, Minister Liu." Good, Liu thought smiling, We don't want to be too late, else we won't be able to excuse it in the name of fashion. Liu stepped out of the limo and onto the steps of the Imperial Palace. Well, it's definitely big enough for the occasion. Liu thought, with his grin still tugging slightly at the edges of his mouth.
Liu ascended the stairs, and surveyed some of the other guests. His solid white tuxedo contrasted with his dark hair, which hung behind his back in a long braid which reached almost to his waist. His tuxedo was done in the Mandarin style and all white, from pants to shirt to coat. Alright then, Liu thought to himself, taking in the vast sea of guests, Who looks important?

Lucia straightened up her formal jacket as she anxiously observed the growing congregation below her outside in the Palace Gardens. Although she had been assured little attention would be paid to her previous... opposition to this day's order of business she couldn't help but feel awkward. She proceeded out onto the upper balcony and descended down the stone steps leading into the blossoming rose gardens below. She surveyed the surrounding guests and came upon the Collosean foreign minister and a senior looking official conversing happily with her mother, she guessed this was the renowned Osafune III, and noted to ensure she be introduced when the opportunity presented itself.
As she turned her hand was taken by none other than her long-time friend Gaia Brutus, current Consul for Education. "Dux-Lucia! It has been quite some time. I trust you are fairing well my Lady?" Lucia was startled by the warm smile Gaia gave her, considering she was a member of the Imperial Government. "Gaia, what a pleasant surprise. I am quite well, as are you by the looks of you! You look radiant!"
This chatter continued as the two women walked across to another group of guests deep in conversation. Lucia noticed her royalist cousin Gaius was one of them. "Gentlemen, may I introduce her Imperial Majesty, Dux-Lucia Draconia. Sister to the esteemed Dux-Alexus." The men gave polite bows of their heads to the Princess, before Consul Gaia continued. "These My Lady are the Myrorian delegation, they have just arrived." Ah, Myrorian faithful monarchists, now Lucia saw why her cousin was so deeply interested in these particular guests. "May I introduce to her Grace, Empeurer Meneldur Tar-Ilium of Great House Quarrovth." Lucia gave a deep curtsey, she couldn't help but notice the handsome face and intelligent eyes. It difficult to accept this man as one of the main poltical blocks standing in her way to revolution. "Finally we meet your Lordship, I have heard a great deal about you."
Servia watched this unfold with narrowed eyes whilst listening to the Collosean Prime-Minister. She risked a glance at her time-piece, noting that soon the exclusive pre-party would have to move down to the Palace Pavillion to prepare for the official ceremony. As her eyes moved expertly around the congregation, subtley so not to offend the esteemed Osafune she noticed Yūmu Anlhī step out into the garden sunlight. This was someone she couldn't afford to miss.
"If you'll excuse me Minister, we should be moving off shortly as the cermony is due to commence soon." The Prime-Minister gave a bow of the head before continuing his story to his remaining entourage of dignitaries. Servia glided over to the approaching delegation from Mor'os, and stepped forward to recieve the new guests.
-
Servia's approach did not go unnoticed by Yūmu. Seeing a chance to introduce herself and begin the diplomatic affairs on the right foot Yūmu moved forward to meet Servia, replacing her initial expression of wandering curiosity and wonder with one of focused sociability. Instinctively Yūmu gave a slight bow before offering her hand to be shook.
"Good morning she said," affecting a friendly smile. Her voice unsurprisingly was flavored by a Mor'osi accent, but thanks to her clear dictation it did not obscure her intended meaning. "My name is Yūmu Samu Anlhī, and I would like to thank you for this invitation. I am sorry that his Divinity could not be here in person. With the recent pregnancy of her Divinity he is preoccupied with other matters."

Dux-Imperatia Consotia Servia Draconia,
The people of the Rabaraci Federation offer congratulations on this blessed occasion. The mother conglomerate of Kathria also extends its blessings on the imperial family and especially the Princeps Alexus. Arrangements have been made for Rabarac's Foreign Advocate, Magorion Klausovich, to attend the ceremony in Collatica in person.

OOC: Don't worry it's not a closed RP. Feel free to get involved.

Just when the guests began to believe no more guests would be arriving, a sleek white car drove up in front of the palace. The driver of the car, a slight man with a thin, expressionless face, in a gray uniform, stepped out and opened the rear driver-side door. A tall, somewhat broad-shouldered man with a strong jaw, deep blue eyes, and a healthy fireball of red hair stepped out in a simple black and white tuxedo. His features were strong yet smooth, though dominated by a considerable intensity. Nevertheless, he smiled at the chauffeur who then, with the same dispassionate expression, turned and returned to the driver's seat of the car. He turned and ascended the stairs, one hand in the pocket of his trousers, the other swinging by his side. Magorion IV of House Klausovich, Foreign Advocate of the Federation of Rabarac, stopped thinking about the meeting with Kathrian officials he had come from and his face returned to his confident yet charming 'official' face, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He looked up at the throng of well-dressed and polished guests. He chuckled to himself at the nature of these sorts of meetings of the political elite; it reminded him of his children playing dress up before the war. That train of thought was not, however, leading to any good conversation topics, so he focused instead on the manners of dress of the other guests: Kathria had long held a policy of political isolation for it's colony for fear of foreign powers provoking revolutionaries, and thus cultural exchange was unheard of. The fact that the Kathrian government had approved of his being here was a dramatic departure in policy. It almost didn't happen; that was mostly your doing he congratulated himself. He recognized from his briefing the faces of Dux-Lucia and Dux-Imperatia Servia, and several other faces he had not committed to memory but had seen in other briefings.
-
(OOC: Question; how are we supposed to RP a conversation? Going one or two sentences at a time is going to take a long time and give us a lot of short posts and a few over-stuffed long posts with very little actual content.)
-
OOC: If you look around, that appears to be perfectly acceptable here in conversation situations. Look at older RPs to try and get a feel for it.

Osafune III had been mingling in the palace hall when something struck him... At first glance, he thought a man's hair was on fire. The man was standing just outside the front entrance. By the time he came inside out of the bright, morning sunlight, it was obvious it was just his natural hair color. Hair like that would make a good psy-war weapon Osafune III thought to himself.
He recognize that the man with the blazing hair was a Kathrian official, but couldn't remember who he is. One would think that a man that stuck out like he would be easy to remember, but considering how isolationist this pocket of the world has been, it's not as surprising as one might think.
The Kathrian official was about to walk by him. "Greetings, I'm Osafune III of Collosea." He smiled and raised a hand to shake the Kathrian's. "Who might you be?"
-
Magorion flashed an easy smile, shook the man's hand with a practiced energy, and replied, "My name is Magorion Klausovich, I'm representing the Rabaraci Federation. Quite pleased to make your acquaintance. Mr. Osafune, what do you think of this ceremony? I'm rather impressed myself."
-
"I must say that I'm impressed as well." Osafune III gave a small chuckle. "I think I'm more impressed with the palace though, it makes Collosea's Executive Palace look as big as a shack!"
-
"Indeed! The residences of these monarchs is one thing humble federations like ourselves lack; well, we have large residences, I suppose, but they typically belong to lucky entrepreneurs," Magorion mused. "What do you think of this Dux-Alexus?"
-
"Well, I cannot say I know much about him and I have yet to meet him, but my foreign minister, Philonexus II, has. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Alexus from Philonexus. Collatica has been isolationist like both of our nations until recently. Alexus has a more modern view on things and intends on bringing his nation out of isolation."
-
Liu had been silently eaves-dropping on the conversation since its beginning. This red-haired Magorion fellow was as good a place to start making friends as any. Rabaraci? I recall seeing a nation called Rabarac on a regional map a few times, fairly close to Collatica actually, but I can't seem to recall actually knowing anything about the nation...Well, there's nothing more to be gained by standing around and listening.
He walked up to the two and introduced himself. "Hello, my name is Liu Hanshen, of Cantr. You two said you were from Rabarac and Collosea, correct?"
-
Osafune III jumped slightly when Liu came out of nowhere and introduced himself. "Yes, I'm Osafune III, Prime Minister of Collosea." He reached out to shake Liu's hand in the same manner he did with Magorion.
-
Magorion certainly hadn't seen this fellow coming out of nowhere, and he did not recall quite where Cantr was, but he remembered it was an island nation with a long history of internal strife. "Good evening, Mr. Hanshen. How is Cantr faring these days?"
-
"Better than before, certainly. What about Rabarac?"
-
"Rabarac is more and more populated with Kathrian businessmen, bureaucrats, and most visibly, troops. The bureaucrats generally restrict the policy of the government to conform to the profits of the businessmen, while the troops just seem to spend their time irritating the Rabaraci. However, it has helped our economy and they did allow my office to dispatch me here, so things are looking up."
"If you'll excuse me, gentlemen, I notice that our host is now free. I should make her acquaintance. Good evening." Magorion bowed just slightly to the two men and then headed directly for the Dux-Imperatia as she finished speaking with another guest. She turned around and saw him approach. He bowed from the waist and said, "Your Highness, it is the honor not only of my office, but of the whole people of Rabarac, that I make your acquaintance."
