Title: Project Artemis
Post by: Validus on January 13, 2008, 10:53:19 PM
"So Mr. President as you can see Project Artemis is moving along nicely and we will need to start development of three Science stations in other parts of the world." said a man wearing a black suit, with a black tie.

"Hmm, I see that you have developed blue prints for these facilities." the president looked threw a series of papers. "What will be the cost for The second phase of Artemis?"

"Well, sir, each facility and accompanied community will cost around 2.3 billion dollars."

"That's alot of money Mr. Geeman."

"Yes, but when we move into Phase three of Artemis, it will be well worth it. We have picked out three Islands located around the glove which will prove quite well for Phase two." Mr. Geeman handed three satellite images of the three target Islands.

"So, these islands will work for Artemis?"

"Yes Mr. President, they will do just fine."

"It might start a stur in the international scene."

"Yes, but I doubt anyone will go to war with us over Nihilum lands. Besides no one else has claims on them."

"True, well Mr. Geeman, you have my permission to proceed with Phase 2 of Project Artemis," and with that the President signed a general order authorizing the action.

"Attention, we are we are five minutes from Drop Zone Alpha," said a voice over the internal wireless.

A man walked up and flipped a switch at the back of the aircraft which caused the rear ramp started to lower. The light from outside flooded into the back cargo hold which was dimly lit by red flood lights. As the light flooded in 50 Airborne Engineers, which were dressed in Full fighting Order. Behind them was an airborne pallet.

"One minute Chief, get them ready," said the voice.

"OK! STAND UP!" yelled the Chief as he motioned with his hands, "COUNT OFF!"

"ONE OK!," "TWO OK!," "THREE OK!," this continued until number 50 sounded off as 'ok'.

The Yellow light turned to Green and with that the Chief yelled "GO! GO! GO!" There was a floor of troops running off the ramp. Giving just enough time for the last jumper to clear the ramp. As soon as all the troopers were out the pallet was sent down with them.

As the troopers hit the ground they set out to rondevu at the designated area. Their objective establish a runway to allow for access of C-130 Hercules Aircraft, and thats what they set out to do.

A loud noise was heard as the engineers looked up, five C-130 Hercules Tactical Transports were circling overhead. "Looks like we got the rest, eh?"

"yup,"

The Commanding officer of the troops currently on the ground, Captain Mike Young, walked outside of the modular tent. "shit, glad I decided to clear out the space beside the strip. Ok, let them land."

"Flight this is Golf Charlie Zero Niner, you are clear to land on strip south, over"

"This is flight, roger, landing south,"

Soon the tropical trees were a flurry as the five transports touched down and parked just beside the end of the runway. As the ramps lowered Captain Young had a grin on his face, two of the transports were full of troops, the other three were full of supplies.

As the Valideen Flag flapped in the wind, Site Alpha was well on its way to being established.

Sites Bravo and Charlie followed suit.

The Citadel, Capital District "1-Lythia", Feniexian mainland
  Territorial Surveillance Headquarters

Rather sleepy, the young man was sitting in front of a large screen, which was attached to the wall of his office. Working in the TS headquarters was a rather boring job; most of the work was done by the large computers screening the satellite pictures for movement and handling scanner informations; all what was to be done was to enter a few commands into the computer the screen belonged to, and checking the screen all 5 minutes for things the system failed to detect. If unauthorized crafts or vessels were detected entering Feniexian territory, the console would activate acoustic and visual signals - like it was happening currently. Harris sighed, and turned his head from the book he was reading to the screen. Five aircrafts were approaching one of the rather remote islands off the Feniexian coast; as far he could remember, it was used for military training from time to time. "Five? That can't be coincidence." he said to himself. Usually, there were never more than two or three unauthorized crafts around at the same time; in most cases, it were a passenger craft getting a bit away from it's course during the foggy, rainy weather around here, or sport pilots getting a bit too far, but as far the system could identify the vehicles, it were STOLs usually used by military forces. He took on his headset and opened a channel to the Administrator; this should be reported to him directly.

Half an hour later, four VH-71, carrying FENIX squads, were dispatched, along with two gunships.

"Sir, we have 5 blips on radar. Heading from the mainland to the island."

"Roger that," The Major, who arrived with the new batch of Engineers walked over to the Signaler, "Send a transmission back to HQ, tell them we are expecting company."

"Ok, listen up," said the Major. "We have incoming bogies, possibly hostile. They are coming from Feniexia. We need to set up some sort of defence. Now I know you aren't combat soldiers, hell we are just hear to dig and build, but you are soldiers. and as soldiers you know how to shoot with a Rifle. Now, I received word from Validus that we are expecting re-enforcements as this land now belongs to us. Varkour will be sending help with in the midterm. Now, this is my order, we do not fire unless we are engaged. We do not want to be the ones starting a war.

"We have limited Ammunition and stores but we need to hold out until we are relieved. Now, Back to work,"

While the carrier VTOLs dropped the FENIX soldiers on various locations over the island, one of the UH-60M gunships reached the landing site of the Valideens, hovering in the rainy sky over them and directing it's searchlights at the ground, the other one provided cover. "Vehicles identified as Valideen ones. They wear signs of the Valideen army, commander." The commander nodded, then turned on the helicopter's speakers, mounted on it's downside.

"Valideen soldiers, you are violating Feniexian territory. Drop your weapons and raise your hands, and you shall not be harmed. Follow my orders or you will be exterminated for attempting to invade Feniexian property."

"This isn't there territory men, just hold your position, our friends should be here soon," said the Major.

**Validus**

"Sir, the Feniexian's have invaded site Alpha of Artemis," stated a young man in a military uniform, "The signaler on sight said that they are asking for the surrender of our troops, or they will die."

"Hmm, is the First Airborne's 2nd Regiment ready?" asked the other man wearing Military combats.

"For the most part sir,"

"What do you mean, for the most part,"

"They are still laking 100 personnel, who are currently en-route to the base."

"Well, get them in the air ASAP. The government is clear on this, the Feniexians have no claim on that island, we now do. It is part of our territory now, and we are to defend it like it was our mainland. Now I need to make some calls, to our allies."

"Sir," the man saluted then walked out of the room.

"Captain, I have the Feniexian coordinates. They're scattered all over the island and have surrounded the Valideens."

"Ok, get them on the radio. Quickly."

The young sailor nodded.

"Feniexian invaders, this is Captain Florent Falfienne of the Foudre. Surrender immediately or will we open fire on your positions. I repeat, surrender immediately or will we open fire on your positions."

"Get the men ready."

"Yes Captain."

The commander sighed. "I guess the Citadel should be informed about the situation..." Then, he pressed a few buttons, and the ComLink channel between the helicopter and the Feniexian Forces Administration was opened, and the communication log transmitted. The reply from the Administration came soon.

"We will provide air support against the Foudre. You, wait until the time is up; then attack them, try to engage them in close combat so they won't fire. Our soldiers shall advance through the forest surrounding the Valideen landing suite."

OOC: I wonder how you get the coordinates of my squads. It's not like they would not move after they were dropped. Also, I'd like to know the range of the ship; if it's close to Feniexia, scanners should picked up it sooner already, and no ship without proper ID is allowed to pass Feniexian waters.

OOC 2nd: Osa, please open a OOC thread or PM people, but please no purely OOC posts...thanks.
And I mentioned multiple times that the Feniexian government considers all isles surrounding the main continent as their property, and I also told Validus per PM about this claim, after he opened this thread, so I can not see the reason of a "That island isn't your territory though."-post :/ .

Well, as you told Validus you had surrounded him, I know roughly where you are.

My ships are a few km south west of the island (in international waters).

"Captain, no reply."

"Very well. Start bombing the forests around the Valideen positions that is where the Fens would be hiding and send in the Rafales. Also, tell the Tempête to send in the troops." The Captain said calmly. "Contact Vusun. The Varkourian Casabian Ocean fleet has opened fire."

"Sir, the 2nd Regiment of the 1st Airborne Division is well, airborne. They are heading to relieve the Engineers up at what we are now affectionately calling Fen's Island."

"Good, now set Condition One throughout the Military, including those abroad. It looks like there is a war coming."

"Yes, Mr. President." The man turned around, and as he walked out of the Presidents office, the light from the hallway shined on the three silver stars that were pinned to his shoulder.

**In the Air - 5 hours out**

"Ha, nice one. So what do you think is going on?"

"Didnt you listen Jenson? The fucking Fens invaded our newly founded colony and now we are going to save the engineers asses."

"Ya, dosn't it seem that we are always saving someone's ass?"

An older man was walking towards teh back of the plane when he heard the conversation, he jerked his head towards them, "Their Airborne, we are airborne. Nuff said."

With an almost unanimous responce, the three troopers looked at the older man and replyed with, "Yes, sir"

A smile came accross the master warrant officers face, "Carry on boys, carry on." and with that he walked on.

The airborne troops were now an hour out from their DZ when the jump master came on the loud speaker, "WE ARE DOING A LOW COMBAT JUMP!" He yelled, "WE WILL BE JUMPING INTO HIGH COMBAT CONDITIONS! OUR ORDERS ARE TO REPULSE THE REMAINING FENS FROM THE ISLAND AND WAIT FOR REINFORCEMENTS FROM THE REST OF THE DIVISION! WE ARE JUMPING INTO HOSTILE CONDITIONS! AS I SPEAK OUR ALLIES ARE BOMBING THE ISLAND AROUND THE ENGINEERS POSITIONS! THIS WILL BE LET UP BEFORE WE JUMP BUT WE CAN EXPECT A SCORCHED EARTH TYPE SCENARIO! The fleet of transports came out of a cloud head into the blue sky. "Holy shit," remarked the pilot as he flew the C-130 he looked out towards the glowing ground below them, then he flicked a switch on the control panel. Which cause the yellow light in the back to turn green, causing a massive out flow of Paratroops. The island below was on fire, at least the part just north of were they were jumping.

As the troopers hit the ground, no one could be found around the DZ. "Shit," said Captain Foreger, "OK LETS MOVE OUT!" he yelled to all his men behind him. they walked on towards the co-ordinates of the engineers. As they walked, they could smell burning flesh and even came across a few burnt Fens. They walked for hours with out getting bumped, but thats why they chose this area for the DZ and approach point the number of Fens would of bascily been reduced to zero thanks to the bombardment.

They walked for an hour and a half, the recce platoon, as they approached the Engineers position they started seeing green again. A lone patch of it in a see of black and fire. "hmm, thats were they are. Lets go." 1 section, which was lead by Sergeant Marks made there way down a slight slope into a a valley. they could see the runway and the wreckage of two of the 5 C-130s, the other three were hidden behind some trees. As they approached Marks flashed his red light three times, and received the response of five lights. They rushed over to the location.

Under the cover of a downed tree three sapers and a corporal were taking cover, protecting the southern flank for the possible attack which was stopped by the Varkour.

"Is it safe," asked Marks.

"Yes sarge, fuck am I glad to see a friendly face," said the corporal, whose face was covered in dirt and cam point.

"Ok, we got some more coming, an entire battalion full. But I need to see Major Trafalgar."

"He should be at the casualty collection point, I would show you were it is but this is all we have on this flank Sarge,"

"thats ok, besides you engines aren't fighters, eh, now are you. My boys will cover off the arch with your saps, well except corporal simpson. Master Corporal McManus can more then handle the task,"

McManus looked over and said with a smirk, "thanks sarge," then looked over at his troops, "ok you hear him," the troops all moved into positions as per training.

The Corporal, the Sergeant and Simpson headed towards the CCP.

"Sir," said Sergeant Marks.

"Sergeant what outfit are your boys?" asked the Major.

"Recce Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Regiment of the 1st Airborne. We have relief coming up from the south west."

"How many troops Sarge? My Engineers are tired and I want to get them as much rest as I can."

"I hear you sir, just the rest of the regiment, more then enough troops to hold until the rest of the division arrives in force."

"How far out are they?"

"Colonel Briggs has the regiment spread out and slowly advancing up here, they are going to wait until my platoon reports back, and my section was sent to make contact, so Captain Winters should of send a runner by now."

"Runner? Why not us the radio?"

"EW, sir."

"Ahh yes,"

The Sergeant took off his helmet and scratched his head, "Sir, we have a medical detachment in the Battalion," he scanned the stretchers and wounded soldiers on the ground, "their main job will be to get these boys and girls out of here."

"Good, their war is over."

With that the Major, Sergeant Marks and Corporal Simpson walked out of the CCP then headed back down towards the corner of the defencive line were they met up with the rest of the section. The rest of the platoon made themselves visible to Marks' section then when given the signal advanced across and met up with the Major.

"Captain,"

"Sir, were do you want us?"

"I want your men to relieve 15 of my men on the eastern flank, its about 120 meters in that direction," he commanded his hand in the direction in which he was referring.

"Yes sir, but Marks' section is staying here, they need to make contact with the rest of the regiment when they arrive in 1 hour 16 minutes time,"

"Ok captain, just remember my Engineers arnt fighters,"

"They shouldn't have to fight for much longer. Remember this Major, you were saved by the Airborne."

"Why not,"

With that Captain Briggs handed out his orders to is section commanders and they all went off to their assigned posts to help bluster the perimeter.

Airport 21, Sector Gamma, Feniexian Coreland

"Echo leader to squad. Take-off in 20 seconds."
Various "Copy that." came through Major Collins' helicopter's ComLink receiver. Squad AH-237 had been ordered to clear the surface of island off all enemy soldiers. They were too few to waste aircraft delivered bombs or missiles for them; some WAH-64 Apache should take them out with their chainguns - at least, that were the orders from the base commander.

"We will reach the island in about half an hour; the Administration sent some F-22s and F-35s to combat approaching enemy fighter aircrafts, but be aware, we give a nice target for them. You are not authorized to use missiles during this mission unless you receive the command to do so." Collins briefed his soldiers while the helicopters began flying en route to their target.

Onboard the ICD Victoria, Zumwalt Class Destroyer

Once again, Captain Williams looked at the ComNav table in the middle of the bridge. 97 ships were following the Victoria - 2 other Zumwalt class destroyers, 15 Ticonderoga class cruiser, 40 Littoral combat ships, 15 Fridtjof Nansen class frigate and 25 Arleigh Burke class destroyers, not counting the large amount of submarines which is accompanying the Feniexian battle fleet. The objectives were clear - engaging the Varkourian navy, then advancing towards the Dysaniian Sector, to increase naval support against Canadian and DYSFOR vessels. Carrying a large amount of FENIX marines, this battle fleet will cause massive trouble to the DYSFOR troops occupying Valhene.

EDIT: Increased the number of ships; hope that is no problem, since we did not RP anything involving my fleet yet. Only ~24 ships seemed far too less for the fleets orders.

Members of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Division, who had landed on the island and relieved the 1st Airborne Division two days prior, were still setting up anti-invasion defences. "Echo Mike Fife Six this is Echo Mike One Zero, Early warning Radar has picked up, more to follow, over,"..."Echo Mike Fife Six, send over,"..."Echo Mike One Zero, enemy aircraft moving to this island, prep Ack Ack in defence, over,"..."Echo Mick Fife Six, Roger, over,"... "Echo Mike One Zero, roger, out."

The Varkourian fleet had been ordered to defend the Valideen island and its occupants from a Feniexian attack. The small fleet was still a few km south of the island and was still waiting for reinforcements, which they desperatley needed.
The "flagship", the Foudre, a small aircraft carrier was accompanied by 2 Georges Leygues class destroyers, 4 La Fayette class frigates, 5 D'Estienne d'Orves class avisos and 1 intellligence ship.

The Captain had already been informed about the incoming Feniexian fleet and he decided to stay put and fight. He was promised the reinforcements would arrive in 4 hours time. An additional 15 ships were on their way from the west and 5 submarines were heading to the island from the south.

That is how a true predator hunts." Jacobson nodded. He turned the sub around to the northwest. Captain Cammell looked at his watch. It was seven o'clock back home in Edmonton. Julie would be sitting down with the kids and eating dinner. He picked up the intercom. "I want all torpedo tubes loaded and prepared to launch. All howitzers are to be loaded and prepared to fire as well. We are heading into a hot zone." He put the intercom down. He looked to Commander David Ryan. "The bridge is yours, Commander Ryan." Ryan nodded. Cammell walked to his quarters and laid down in his bed. A picture of him and Julie during their wedding day was hanging next to the bed. He smiled, turned over and dreamed of her.

"Send in the jags immediately. We need the rafales for the enemy fleet." The captain replied.

30 seconds later pilots were jumping into their planes. Jacques "Fuzz" Gaulliere was the first to take off and as he did, he thought about his family back in Varkour. All he wanted was to get back in one piece and make his father proud.

The Xavier Rommel moved below the water, nearing it's target. Commander Ryan walked into the captain's quarters. He woke Cammell. "Capt'n, we have arrived." Cammell got up and put on his black naval jacket. He followed Commander Ryan to the bridge. The sailors stood up and saluted the captain. "At ease, men." Cammell picked up the intercom. "This is the captain speaking. We have arrived at Artemis. The Aurearan Coalition fleet is close by. We are going to link up with them and join the fighting. Now I know that many of you think that fighting the Feniexians is wrong, but you need to understand that the Feniexians took aggresive action aganist allies of the Empire first. We have orders and we must follow them. Now everyone hold on to something." He turned to one of the engineers. "Let's practice the emergency vents in the ballast tanks. I want to give our allies a surprise." The engineer smiled and nodded. He pushed a few buttons and switchs. Suddenly the sub felt like it was being dragged to the surface by a giant hook. The sub breached the surface like a great whale. Captain Cammell smiled as light came in through the windows of the bridge. Blips on the radar alerted the crew. An ensign looked. "Capt'n, Varkourian fighters coming in fast." Cammell nodded. He picked up the radio. "This is Her Imperial Canadian Majesty's SSAN Xavier Rommel. We are here to help. Waiting for response."

Lieutenant General joked, "Yes, bunch of rich folks that wanted to start their own rural community away from the urbanization.  Yet at the same time scared that some pirates would rob them and hired a security force."

"Well sir, the platoon has reported a contingent of Valideens soldiers have landed on the island.  They are requesting orders, sir."

"Valideens soldiers?!  Tell them to immediately dig in.  I'll contact the JMCC and see what naval forces we have to assist."  What the hell are they doing massing forces so close to us?

"They are where?!" shouted Chairperson Bustos to the cell phone placed on the table next to him, on speakerphone.  He quickly got up from the beach chair to pick up the phone and turn off the speakerphone.  The General on the other phone began to repeat himself when the Chairperson cut him off.

"Yes, I got it the first time, sorry.  Any word from the Valideens on this action?"

"No?  The Myrorians have?  And they said what?" Hmm, must have missed that memo about the island near Feniexia.

"Well then I'll take your suggestion and we'll move to DEFCON FOUR immediately.  Meanwhile send a reasonable force to make sure that snob town is not overrun and do not engage the Valideens, unless fired upon.  I am going to get in touch with the Valideens before I do anything else."  The Chairperson puts on a pair of shades before calling the Office of Public Relations.

The Chairperson seeks justification of your military forces on the nearby island off the Allied States mainland.  Be advised we have civilians on the island and a small military force present.  Also be advised due to your unanncounced presence, we are sending additional military forces to safeguard Bustians and regional security.  Our military forces are ordered to not engage your forces and your forces are strongly recommended to not probe further inland than the beaches you have landed.

The Chairperson and The Board hope to seek a civilized and calm solution to the situation at hand and that no one gets hurt.

Valideen forces should be able to pick up an Allied Carrier Battle Group with a Marine Expeditionary Division enroute to the island from the east, where the "snob town" is located.

It has come to our attention that you have a small colony on the island that Civilian Project Artimis is located. As you know Validus is currently in state of war with many nations of the Pax Imperium, do to the Fens in the north attacking Field Engineers at Site Alpha. We hope that this is not the case with Site Charlie. We have been there for quite some time and were aware of a small hamlet on the western portion of the island flying the Bustian flag, however we have not found any other claims to the remainder of the island. Currently we have a contingent of Marines there, no more then two companies in strength to set up a defence in case it is attacked by the Fens or Loyanese, or other PI nations. Most of the facility is being run by the Ministry of the Environment, to help meser weather in the Ocean and track storms around teh world, as was the reason for Project Artemis.

We believe that peaceful coexistence on the island is a must. Validus does not want another war. We hope you agree that war is not in your interests and you will turn around those forces heading to Artemis Site Charlie.

Thank you,

DND

"Capt'n, Varkourian fighters coming in fast." Cammell nodded. He picked up the radio. "This is Her Imperial Canadian Majesty's SSAN Xavier Rommel. We are here to help. Waiting for response."

"Xavier Rommel, this is Armée de l'Air. Please contact the surface fleet."

The 8 jaguars flew over the Xavier Rommel and headed for the Valideen island.

"Do you have an idea how much money I've spent, hell, the money we have all spent to build this community?!" shouted the self-appointed leader Lawerence Henz to the Sergeant Major of the hired platoon.  He, nor the rest of the people in the Snob Town, (ooc: Hell, I am making it the offical name of the place) were delighted to hear that foreign military units have landed on "their" island.

"We were all here first and thus have rightful claim to the whole island.  As your boss, I am ordering additional miltary units to be placed under your command and you are going to rout these people from our island.  Just tell us what you need and we will provide it."  Lawrence looked around the room for approval and found all nodding in agreement.

"I am afraid it doesn't quite work like that, sir," replied the Sergeant.  My boss is the Chairperson of the Allied States as a member of the Bustian Army.  You are just a contractor hiring a portion of the company for your personal use; and a specific one at that.  Defense and policing.  You want to change my orders, you'll have to go though my boss."

"This is insubordination!  You should be shot!"

"You go and tell the Colonel taking over the jurisicion that.  'Till then my men and I are going to do our jobs and hold this place for him."

"Oh don't you worry I will!  And consider yourself fired!  I'm having your second in command taking over the platoon.  Perhaps he's a more reasonable man."  Lawrence smiled so sure of himself making that call.

The Sergeant let out a small sigh.  "Either you are dumb or you are deaf and I am leaning to the former.  As of now, you are not giving the orders."  The Sergeant did not give the man a chance to respond and walked out of the man's home where the residents had gathered for the meeting.

Your unannounce military presnce so close to the Bustian mainland cannot be tolerated.  The Chairperson and The Board demand their immediate removal or else to allow all nations of Taijitu to place their military unannouced at our borders.

It has been requested for our nations to meet, face to face, to discuss the future sharing of the island.  We are open to your presence however, your lack of respect insults us and cannot be tolerated.  Talks can easily difuse and resolve the situation.

The wide building on the left is the HQ of The Allied States of Bustos-21, Inc.

Chairperson Bustos sits down to read over the reports from the Colonel from Snob Town in his office overseeing the capital city, Twenty One.  He needs to run a few thoughts in his head before making some final decisions.  He lights the infamous Peace Blunt and takes a drag, holds it in a few seconds, and lets it out.  These things are so good. Mmm.

If only those Feniexians just used a little diplomacy.  Valideens troops are withdrawing from the island, but they will be back.  This time with our support and some defenses in place.  Going to need to talk to the residents of Snob Town and make sure they understand the soon-to-be arrangement.

OOC:  Don't know what the rest of you are doing but an update.

IC:

"I can assure you, this is a very generous offer.  Plus after things settle down in other parts of the world, this place is going to get busy.  And not on just the other half of the island.  People are going to start coming here once the news is out," said the local representative for the Chairperson.

"No! NO!  Some of us want to stay.  The others might want to leave and will take the compensation package you have offered but there are a few of us who want to keep what is ours," replied Lawrence Henz, speaking on the behalf of himself and three remaining claim owners.  He was one of the few last people who haven't been convinced to sell their claim to the Allied States.  After four months of negotiations, the government had 75% of Bustian claim, The Board wanted a complete monopoly of the entire claim.  He and three others claimed the other 25%, which included the small, but well developed town center of Snob Town, from which the Marines have been coordinating their operations from.  The Marines have been assigned to map the whole island, focusing on the future Valideen half, while they still could.  The security platoon was relieved of their duties and returned home.

"Alright, alright," the representative said, tired from trying to convince the four owners to sell for the past few months.  He quickly remembered, The Board said they wanted the residents to all be gone before they go before the Valideens to discuss the specifics of the island.  They never did specifically say how I had to do it.  Buying them out was the easy way of doing it.  However...  "How about this?  If the four of you will not allow us to buy the claim.  How about we lease it, unconditionally?  Because trust me, if you think this place is going to stay undeveloped, you are dreaming.  We DO have the rest of island and not to mention the Valideens, which I assure you WILL be coming back in greater numbers."

Lawrence remained silent for a moment.  After all, that was the whole point of coming here; seclusion and minimal development.  Dammnit!  This place was supposed to be a vacation spot!  Not some joint government venture.  "So, what do you mean to lease it unconditionally?"

Now we are getting somewhere.  "You four would still be the owners and receive a hefty monthly due but, the Allied States will have full control of the claim to do as they please.  And should you, one day, want to sell it, we get first dibs."

Lawrence sighed, finally accepting defeat of trying to keep the paradise that he had attempted to build.  "A HEFTY monthly due it's going to be, my good man."

The Future of the Snob Town Port.

Parts of the port of Snob Town is under construction to expand the small seaport into being capable of handling larger transport vessels to increase the number of supplies brought into the island.  Once fully up and running, construction crews inland will have ample supplies.  Snob Town's small town center, currently the hub of all traffic from the port to the rest of the island, is slowly growing into city size as it becomes developed into an urban center.  Plans for a nearby military base and airport is currently in the works and already corporations were making bids to set up shop in Snob Town to cater to the workers and military (ooc: will be called a town, no matter its actual size).

Meanwhile in other parts of the island, Marines continued mapping and gathering as much information they could so later scientific exploration crews could search for any possible resources on the island.

As the Brigadier General entered a large tent on the makeshift command base, a soldier shouted "ATTEEEENNN-SHUN!"  All the soldiers inside quickly snapped to full attention with salute.

"As you were, I am Brigadier General Jacob Listman of the 5th Corps, " he spoke, looking for an officer with colonel markings.  And he found her, sitting down behind a desk in the middle of the tent.  He walked to her, "I have come to assume command and take over all military operations," handing her orders from the JMCC.

The Colonel as well as the rest of the Marine officers in the tent knew full well why he was there.  He was even expected at that precise time to relieve the her of command.  She did not have to open the folder, containing written orders direct from the JMCC explaining that the Army had come to take over operations of Snob Town.  She did so anyway, as a formality.  Exchange of command, was always done with respect, no matter the weight of the brass involved.  "I transfer command to you General."  There the magic words were spoken and an official transfer had occurred.  Until then, it was still the Colonel's operation.

"Your Marines have done a wonderful job.  Scared those Valideens right back home, I hear."  He gave out a small chuckle.  "You and your Marines will be relieved over the following month to report back to the Allied States for debriefing."

The 5th Corps brought in two Motorized Divisions, one Mechanized Division, one Airborne Brigade, three Engineer Brigades, and full support personnel totaling 48,000 soldiers of the Bustian Army.  Its primary objective; construct a military base, complete with a seaport and airfield.  Its secondary objectives; assist civilian engineers in construction of infrastructure, explore any remaining terrain, and keep watch on the Valideen compound.

Snob Town, the island, had become a Protectorate of the Allied States.

Snob Town Joint Bustian Military Base

With the completion of the Joint Military Base in Snob Town, regional security of the East and protection of the newly acquired Protectorate of Snob Town will become its primary missions.  Along with the 5th Army Corps, the JMB will be home to a Marine Expeditionary Division, two Carrier Battle Groups, and a several Air Force wings.  This is the first offshore military base in the Allied States' history.

Bustian News Network reported a few leaks of possible nuclear armament being positioned within the base but the Bustian Military denied all such rumors.
