Outbreak
« on: January 17, 2008, 08:33:40 AM »
::SC-Omicron, former Dysaniian capital, Feniexian occupied territory

~ 07:20 FST, morning time. Omicron district headquarters.

"Seems like things are processing smoothly..." Sector Administrator Hales mumbled into his nonexistent beard as he was reading through the weekly report. "Seems like CP and MP are doing a good job. Even the Emperor should be satisfied." After all, Cordre had not been very cheerful in his life, and since Miray's assassination, his condition has shown no signs of getting better.

"Ms. June?" he then called for his secretary with a raised voice. "Please transmit the report to the Citadel now."
A young woman, probably of Dysaniian ethnicity, entered the room. "If I might inform you first that Overwatch just reported that the contact for one of our checkpoints at the eastern borders of the city was lost about 10 minutes ago?" Hales' left eyebrow went up a bit. "Did they transmit anything before the connection were interrupted?" June shook her head. "No, sir." "Maybe technical difficulties?" "Probably. I personally don't think there is anything you should be worried about." "Well, I will advise the Overwatch so dispatch a CP squad to investigate was had happened there." Hales moved his bureau chair to the console on the wall near him and pushed a few buttons on the keyboard; June left the room silently.

~ 08:15 FST, morning time. SC-Omicron, city district Gamma, Patrol Squad 15-A.

"Area clear."
With a look on the little pocket computer he was equipped with, Officer Katō answered to the statement of his squadmen. "Alright Thompson. Let's continue. We have still 4 waypoints remaining." he added, as information for the rest of the group.

Suddenly, just as he placed the pocket computer in the bag on his belt, the LED on his helmet informed him that someone was about to open up a ComLink channel. Quickly, he opened the shielding on his left arm and pushed two buttons on the keyboard-like controls; one moved the LED so that it was now covering his right eye, the other one activated voice transmission.

"Officer Katō, Overwatch transmitting. We have a new command for your squad. You have to investigate Checkpoint 8. We will now upload additional informations and waypoints. Overwatch out."

"Affirmative Overwatch." he replied through his headset. Then, he turned his head to his squad of four men, all dressed in the usual white-greyish body armor of Feniexian military Civil Protection members. "Well, men - our route was changed a little bit. Maybe this patrol will take a bit longer. Follow me. We will board the next subway station; I will brief you on our objectives during the walk. Now move."

    ~ 07:45 FST, morning time. Checkpoint 8.

The lightly armed man looked down on the corpse of the CP officer he just shot before he could leave the rather remote building on the east borders. Only few buildings surrounded the little contraband checkpoint, a modernized and re-equipped custom station where CP scanned all individuals wanting to enter the capital for contrabands. Most buildings were left by their inhabitants during the Feniexian invasion of the city.

"Area secured. No more survivors." he said, while kneeing down to the floor and inspecting the gun the officer carried, and his body armor, now severally damaged. "Take their weapons and ammo, we need equipment. It's hard to get any still functioning weapons around here..." the man behind him advised his fellow rebels. He was wearing body armor made from various Feniexian and Dysaniian suits he stole from military camps near former battlefields; however, only one other of his man was carrying similar body armor; the other were wearing civil clothes. All were armed, however; mostly with pistols, only the leader was carrying a Dysanii-made rifle, probably from the same kind of places he got his body armor from. While the other ones were searching the bodies of the CP members, he was talking through his radio with someone. After a few minutes, he announced to his squad: "Men, my informant just told me two things - at first, our agents were successful in disabling communication infrastructure in this area and blocking radio and WLAN. Secondly, the Administration dispatched a CP squad in our direction. They will be here in about 50 minutes; go and hide the corpses, we have to slow them down; once they find out what happened here, they will be after us, and further objectives will become very difficult. Try to also remove the blood; it is still wet, and if you work fast, most of the stains should be away quickly. I, Michael, Thomas, and Morris will stay here and look for the squad they dispatched; if they find out too much, we might have to kill them; also, I and Morris in our armors would draw their forces attention on us; with our current equipment, we are not suited for covert operations. Also, disarm all metallic weapons before you enter the more urbanized areas; they have metal detectors all around there. Go now. Those imperialistic bastards will soon see what mistake they made in suppressing the Dysaniian people."
