Cassus Hallidor, the head of the Traval County Guard bordering Annabe, looked out the window of his office attached to the barracks. Just over the mountains to the north was a whole land, waiting to be pounced upon. It used to have a government, oh yes, but it perished months ago, due to a civil war of unknown causes. The new Empeurer could surely be convinced of the worth of the land through a simple letter. He also knew that, if the takeover was successful, he could very well be appointed Count of Annabe, and have access to that vast salary. He sat in his chair, and began scrawling a letter to His Majesty.
To the Divine Appointed King, Meneldur Tar-Ilium I,
Sire, the lands north of here, to Annabe, are vast and rich in resources. The populace could easily be subdued by tales of our extravagant life, compared to their squalid existance in huts and broken subways. I propose an expedition to take the lands north of here, and add them to the great Myrorian Empire.
Cassus Hallidor, Captain of the Traval Guard.
-
The letter came back with a red stamp at the bottom, the Seal of the Empeurer. Smiling, he send a telegram to all barracks in the county:
70% OF ALL GUARDSMEN IN EACH BARRACK IN THE COUNTY ARE ORDERED TO MARCH TO TRAVAL CITY IMMEDIATELY. YOU WILL BE INFORMED OF YOUR ORDERS UPON ARRIVAL.
Once the final members of the guardsmen arrived at Traval City, the total number of soldiers ready to march to Annabe equalled exactly 7,391. Filing into the local baseball stadium, Cassus began delivering orders from the pitcher's mound.
"Gentlemen! You are all here today to help the greatness of Myroria expand! To the north of here is a vast, but untamed land called Annabe. You, all 7,391 of you, will be the first to push in and take control of the south. Once you have safe control over the city of Minas in the south, you will wait for reinforcements, and the bulk of the force. We set out tomorrow! Follow your commanding officer's instructions, and godspeed to all of you!"
-
OOC: last I checked, Annabe was a player-controlled nation. Has he gone inactive? Or have you/Elu been controlling it the whole time?
-
Due to Myroria's moves into the Annabe region, the Imperial Army inculding the Alpini Guards moved up to the Annabe border. Emperor Paul I looked at the message of the movements of Myroria. If Myroria gains more regions, that puts my Empire in a bad position. I must think of a way to secure a gain in this region. He picked up his phone. "Get me the Myrorian King."

Cease agressive activities against the sovereign nation of Annabe or pay the dire consequences. Please end imperialism in such an area and make the continent a land of peace instead of war. Any further steps to take over Annabe will result in the Ozian Army preventing you from taking any more steps.

From: Emperor Paul I, Emperor of Canada, High King of the Cree Confederacy
To: St Oz
We will cease all imperialistic expansions in this region. We dont want war.
-
OOC: GC - it CTE'd.
Holy Sancta,
I do not want war either. You see, Annabe's government failed to protect its citizens. We are liberating them from their current existance. I understand how you might see it as imperialism, but Myroria truely does need land. Our population is becoming increasingly pushed into an area not large enough for us. Likewise, Annabe's people need a power that will protect them from crime that may come from the absence of a government there. I do not mean to offend you, but please, allow us to come to a compromise.
Meneldur Tar-Ilium.
-
Meneldur Tar-Ilium,
We don't want war but it is only necessary when you threaten the sovereignty of a people. It is best to let things be fought amongst themselves. They will form a government eventually after revolutions and if the Myrorians take over they'll be too dependent on big brother. Let them form their own nation by their own right.

Holy Sancta,
We will withdraw, but first we would like to know your opinions on another expansion which we were planning as a "Plan B", north of the Democratic States. If you do not consider that imperialism, we will move there.

Meneldur Tar-Ilium
I'm flattered by your recognition of my divinity but not flattered enough. One of these days the Greed that consumes you and your hierarchy will eat you.

Sancta,
All right, I'll remember that next time you look the other way about your Mafia invading countries.
Meneldur Tar-Ilium.
The soldiers suddenly switched orders. "Return to Traval", the COs said. "The Novrith County Guard are now on their way to the east".
-
Meneldur Tar-Ilium
Perhaps I'm not turning my head on that issue, perhaps I'm encouraging it, or perhaps I'm chasing the mafia to that nation. It's all a conception.

Holy Sancta,
I believe this exchange serves no further purpose.

Rushed under the cover of night in black cargo planes and Ospreys, the invasion force headed toward the colony, to be dubbed "Lëitzembeurg", crossed the ocean, as quickly as possible. Aircraft carriers sent to "monitor the situation in Sovereign Dixie" were ordered to change course and get ready for the cargo planes. Time was of the essence. The natives could have no time to prepare, nor could any enemies have any time to organize and send a large attack force. Positions were only known to certain people on the ground, and those in the convoy.
-
With Ospreys landing on the beach at about 4:30 AM, and troop transports carrying those that had just been on the cargo planes to the shore from the aircraft carriers about an hour later, the total force of about 50,000 stormed into the humid grasslands and swamps that looked so similar to most of Myroria. It was not long before a company of troops, numbered about 150, were the first to stumble upon a native settlement. They were living in yurts, mostly the same size besides one that was slightly bigger than the rest. The company's CO ordered them to spread out as quietly as they could to surround the encampment, but just as the circle was almost complete, a man outside looked up. He saw the glimmer of a soldier's glasses. He yelled in a language the soldiers could not understand, some other men came out with spears, and all hell broke loose. Shouts from the natives intermingled with the loud booms of G36s. Most had spears crafted from local rocks and metals, but some had aquired rifles and handguns. By the end, 89 were dead. 32 soldiers, and 57 natives. The soldiers moved in on the terrified women and children. Some, who had lost friends, wanted to set the yurts on fire. The CO, however, put a stop to that. By 9:00 that night, the company set camp. They pushed the natives from the two or three in each one - about halfway capacity - to full capacity in each empty one. The yurts were now for the soldiers, and this village was now called Yale.
-
OOC: Wow, I forgot about this RP.
Following orders, the soldiers stayed in Yale to build it from a circle of yurts into a typical Myrorian brick-and-mortar town. The soldiers that had not yet come upon a native settlement continued to push east, hoping to get to the other side of the continent by the end of the month, then push north to occupy a tall strip of land. As they went further east, the separate tribes became large ones with tracts of land, almost like a nation-state. In some ways this was easier; taking down the chief meant more land faster. In some ways, however, it was just as hard. The large amounts of natives who knew the land well could ambush platoons driving on the rough-and-tumble roads the DSA built years ago. More soldiers died, and the total death count among the Myrorian force north of the DSA was now something like 3,000.
The most recent aquisition by the Myrorian military was the Abenaki tribe north of North Dakota and Montana. It was a fairly large slice of land, maybe the size of County Traval or County Novrith. 608 men died in the landgrab of it, and about 100 more were court-martialled for arson or murder in the days after. Currently the remaining men that had not stayed behind to develop cities were getting closer and closer to their final destination. Maps revealed all that was left now was Michigan, then to push north (OOC: Using the DSA map in page three of "Grey Pheonix"). The men refered to the states as if they were invading the DSA. Then again, it was all the landmarks they had. The land of these natives were unfamiliar and foreign, and it would take years to be "Myrorinized".
-
OOC: where EXACTLY on the map is this "colony"?
-
OOC: Emp, I believe it's right above DSA, which side, I dunno.
-
It's completely to the north of the DSA. A strip of colony running along the northern border, maybe 250 kilometers tall.
-
Oh, so basically, it runs from the western coast to the eastern one in a 250km wide band?
-
Yes. Obviously the border would be curved and such to make it look more realistic, but that's the basic premise.
-
"The East Coast, men." said one officer in command of a platoon of soldiers. His happened to be the first to reach it.
"But just because we're here doesn't mean the conquest is over." He pointed to the north.
"250 kilos that way, and then we head west. Luckily this time some men from towns across the region have also been ordered to go north to help us. My guesstimate is one or two months before this whole land is Myrorian. Well, we'll rest here for the night men. We need to give our...slower compatriots time to catch up", he said with a grin.
Meanwhile, in Yale, a force of about 80 men - roughly half of the men that came in to conquer - strapped on their gear among the brick-and-wood buildings being erected around the yurts. By now the natives were allowed to come out, and, though they were shy at first, they began to trade with the soldiers partly out of choice and partly out of fear.
The men, however, tried their best to present themselves not as enemies, but friends. This was hard to do when your family's men were buried by them.
Leaving the village aboard some ATVs and ULTRA APs, the men were told to the northeast there was a native tribe that was predominant in this region. The nation wasn't nearly the size of some of the small countries ot the east, but it was a sizeable chunk of land to grab. They also knew that this conquest could win them at least a little respect of those they conquered: The tribe they had mentions demanded tributes and women through fear and manipulation.
So continued the luxury space the Myrorian government wanted.
-
The forces all arched to meet in the rough center of the planned colony, near the northern border. Here the capital would be established. The men in the east could go through faster by taking entire Indian nations at once, but the men in the west had to subdue village by village, but to hurry things up they would only subjugate ones they encountered, and go after the rest after the colony was officially established. About 3 months after the army reached the coast, and about 7 months after the entire operation began, Lëitzembeurg was declared completed and a Myrorian colony. There were a couple villages left to conquer still, but the basic colony had been completed.
Total losses (Myrorians): About 5,000.
Total losses (Natives): About 7,000.
OOC: The width is also being shortened to 200 kilometers. More realistic in the time it took to conquer the land.

OOC: I'm dropping the umlaut above the "e". I was tired of that zomgabsolutelyneeded é in Peté, I'm not going to the umlaut.
ACHTUNG!

Thank you.
Maria Schnaud, and her husband, Joseph, looked at the poster. Joseph knew how to read, but Maria didn't. Joseph read it to her and she lit up.
"500 marks? Is that cheap?"
"Very cheap. We're paying less per year for our insula. If we left, we could buy some land on the coast, maybe build us a house on the beach...maybe even teach you to read!"
"I'd like that, Joseph. Let's go."
"We can't just go, honey. We'd need to sell our things in the insula, save for some clothes, to pay the contractors. Or maybe I could get Franklin to help me; he's a carpenter, I'm a plumber. Besides, he said he was moving out there anyway. I'll think about it, honey."
"Final boarding call for Flight 872 to Leitzembourg, Leitzembourg. 5 minutes to departure."
"Look at you, Annake. You and your little girl steps, arms flailing. If you want to make a plane, you've gotta run like a MAN!"
A minute or so later, Wilbert Loes arrived at the counter next to the bridge to the plane. Annake arrived a couple of seconds later.
"I would laugh if I wasn't out of breath as it is."
"Come on, it wasn't that far." Wilbert put the two tickets on the counter where the steward was standing and entered the bridge to the plane. Unlike the lower-class Schnauds, Wilbert Loes was a banker, and his girlfriend Annake Sabien a cook at a swanky restaurant. They could both read, which was a rare feat in Myroria. They planned to sign the papers for a fairly expensive house in the north of Leitzembourg, and Annake would return to working at the branch of her restaurant there while Wilbert would go back to banking. It wasn't all that much of a change for them, but the beautiful lands to the east presented an interesting, thrilling experience. And apparently people were willing to fork over 500 KRM an acre to get that thrill.
-
"Well, Joseph, I'd be happy to help you with your dream home. You'll need more than just me, though. How much money do you think you'll get from the stuff in your insula?"
"Maybe 9,000 marks. That's enough for an acre, and to pay the contractors, I think."
"Well, you're going to have a small house. Maybe slightly bigger than your insula now. I'd help you for free - I've already bought a house there so I won't need to work on my own, and I got a friend who's an electrician over there. Maybe he'd help you for cheaper."
"I think I'll move over there. I mean, Maria and I won't be cramped in a little insula in the middle of the city..."
"You aughta go. I hear it's nice over there."
"But where will I stay when I'm building the house?"
"Oh, you and Maria could stay with me. Or I could pull some strings with Great House Quarrovth and they could get you a yurt from a village nearby."
"Well, if you could get the yurt, I'd take it. I don't want to be a bother."
"I'm not sure how successful I'd be, I'm only a Steward. If it doesn't work, you can just stay with my wife and I. You're not a bother."
-
"Just like raising a barn, Joseph. You ever raise a barn?"
"No, I haven't. I lived in the middle of Traval City, Johnathan."
"Well, my family used to do it. 'Going Pennsylvanian', we'd call it. Up she goes."
The framework for the left wall was lifted up by Joseph and some of his workers, and nailed into place. Joseph walked to his wife.
"I like it, Joseph. It's coming along good."
"Thanks. We should have the siding on by the end of the week, then we'll put up the walls, lay down some carpet and put up insulation and drywall, and maybe we'll be living in here by the end of next month."
