The Republic of Jelsi and its Corruption
« on: February 20, 2007, 08:32:51 PM »
The police siren echoed throughout the streets of Palermu, while the radiant lights blinded those who came in contact with them.  The convoy of the Palermu Police Department flew down the streets to a small bar located in the western part of the city.  The 8 vehicles pulled up in front of the establishment, with four officers exiting each vehicle armed with Beretta 9mm side arms, and one officer with a Benelli shotgun.  The officer armed with the shotgun would fire a round into the locks, and then stand back, allowing the other officers to run into the building.  The police were searching for 12 suspected members of the Passo di Rigano Cosca, the most powerful Mafia organization in the country of Jelsi.  As the police raid the building, they tear everything up apart ranging from cash registers and the bar, to the office in the back room.  The entire store is empty, and soon the police discover the hidden door that leads to the basement which is where the suspected gambling den.  The dozen officers make their way down stairs and find a large suitcase sitting in the middle of a pool table in the room, along with hundreds of thousands of dollars, decks of cards, guns and a variety of narcotics.  As the police confiscate the area, a random officer unlocks the suit case and then begins to open it.  As one officer attempts to stop him, the suit case triggers the 2 C-4 explosives located within the suitcase.  Within an instant the entire police force is wiped out.

Just down the street, an 18 year old boy, a very low ranking associate to the crime family watches as smoke seeps through the windows of the bar after the loud explosion.  Before long more police and the fire department arrive on the scene.  The death rate in the war against the Mafia was now at 312 in only 6 months.  The organization had finally stepped too far…

-Four Days Later…Santo Marcello (Capital of Jelsi)-

The Jelsian Prime Minister, Alessandro Buscemi stepped out of his office and made his way towards the conference room, where he was to have a meeting with the head of the JIB (Jelsi Intelligence Bureau) and the AMTF (Anti Mafia Task Force).  Both organizations were the top agencies in the country, and very well known for its discreet undercover work.  Prime Minister Buscemi was dressed conservatively as any politician should be dressed on such an occasion, and was followed by two members of the JSS (Jelsi Secret Service).  Stepping inside of the conference room, he took a seat at the table and began to speak with the two Intelligence Agency heads.  ”Alright gentlemen, what is I you’ve got for me?”  Opening a file, Agent Cussimano of the AMTF revealed a mug shot photo and slid it across the table to Buscemi.  ”That’s the man we suspect to be in charge of the recent attack on the Palermu Police sir..” said Cussimano.  ”What’s this guy’s name?” asked Buscemi.  ”Giorgio Provenzano, the Capo Famiglia (Boss) of the Passo di Rigano Cosca, and suspected to be the Capo di tutti Capi of Cosa Nostra sir…”  The Prime Minister began to breath a tad bit heavier, realizing that the man who was paying him off was now coming under extreme pressure from the federal law enforcement agencies.  ”Hmm.  Well to be honest, I don’t see any evidence that ties him to the attack.  And since I know you are here to ask for more funds for an investigation, I’m going to have to deny that.  Good day to you gentlemen.” said Buscemi.  ”But sir!!” yelled Cussimano, as the Prime Minister stood from his desk and exited the conference room.  As he walked back to his office he then whistled to his personal secretary who followed him into the office, shutting the door behind her.  After a minute and a half, loud moans were heard from the office.  No wonder there were rumors in the press about the Prime Minister having an affair.

-Present Day…AMTF HQ…Downtown Santo Marcello-

Agent Cussimano, the head of the AMTF sat inside his office with the leader of the Jelsian Army, or whatever was left of it.  Jelsi had been divided up over the past 20 years into small regions and after fighting a 5 year war the military of each region was crippled, leaving a handful of soldiers left in the country.  However, the Government was planning on rebuilding the Military with hopes of restoring order in the nation.  ”So General Ignazzo, do you have any recommendations for this Spec Ops Unit that I have in mind for the job?” asked Cussimano.  ”Well, as a matter of fact I do sir.” replied the General, as he reached into his pocket, removing a folded piece of paper with 30 names written down.  ”These are the people that I believe should be involved in the unit.  All are ex-military of the Santo Marcello Military.  Five were Marines, twenty were Army and five were Air Force, and all were in the Special Forces groups of their branch.  Grabbing the piece of paper, Agent Cussimano unfolded it and read all of the names.  ”Alright…sounds good.  I want them equipped at their posts as soon as possible… said Cussimano.  ”Sir…they’re already there.” replied the General, with a smirk across his face.

-Present Day...Martino City…Prime Minster Candidate Giordana DiNapoli’s Campaign-

”Crime is a major issue in our country, and without a formidable police force, we will be susceptible to all forms of crime.  If elected I will guarantee that the Mafia and other criminal organizations are brought to justice.” said Giordana DiNapoli as she spoke in front of the large crowd of supporters.  Meanwhile, two bodyguards stood in the background of the stage armed with M4A1 Carbine Assault Rifles, with light weight body armor, dressed in casual clothing.  Giordana needed extra security since she was the top candidate currently in the race for Prime Minister, and was also the biggest enemy of Organized Crime.  There had been numerous threats delivered to her on a daily basis, but nobody thought the Mafia would strike anytime soon.

As she was finishing up her speech, a bullet flew into the podium, and grazed by the side of her right leg, and was soon followed by another shot that hit into the wall behind her on the stage.  At that point in time, the security forces with her realized that this was an assassination attempt.  Carmine Santucci, the head of this specific unit sprinted out from the rear of the stage and stepped in front of DiNapoli, using himself as a human shield in case any other shots were to be fired.  Fortunately, a sniper was also setup in the unit and was able to spot the assassin’s position in a nearby building.  Giordana was quickly taken off stage and brought to her vehicle when an SUV pulled up at a nearby intersection in the street.  Four masked gunmen quickly got out of the vehicle equipped with loaded AK-47 assault rifles, and aimed towards the Lincoln Town Car used to drive Giordana around.  While inside the car, a bodyguard covered up over her while the rounds were fired into the vehicle.  At the same time, Santucci and two other bodyguards (all ex military) returned fire with their M4 Carbines.  With his set to single shot, Carmine was able to kill off two of them with his first two shots.  The two remaining gunmen took cover behind their SUV, while the security team continued to lay down heavy fire on the vehicle with their assault rifles.  Meanwhile, another member of the security team managed to get cover and call up the back up squad located two blocks up.  ”Listen up!  We got a Code 15!  I repeat!  Code 15 we need back up asap over!”  The other squad responded with a simple ”Ten-four” and before long, the bullet proof Hummer pulled up along next to the town car.  DiNapoli was quickly placed inside the vehicle, and was soon out of harms way as they were able to speed out of the location with a police convoy giving extra protection as well.  Meanwhile, Carmine and two other members of the squad finished off the two gunmen, killing one and seriously wounding the other who would be taken into custody for questioning.

The gunman was able to recover from his wounds, and after brutal interrogations was forced to sign a confession stating he was the one who committed the crime.  However, his statement was reduced dramatically due to information given on certain members of the Passo di Rigano Cosca.

-One week later-

The newly formed SWAT team burst through the doors of the La Fortuna Social Club in the south side of Palermu.  The team quickly rounded up the suspects within the building, resulting in the arrest of 20 members of the organization, along with numerous arrests made in various locations around the country, resulting in the arrest of 17 more members and 45 associates of the organization.  Meanwhile, all over the country voting began for the next Prime Minister, resulting in a victory for Giordana DiNapoli.
