Title: The Guillotine
Post by: Space Raider on April 20, 2008, 12:19:50 AM
Who thinks the guillotine should be an execution, if execution were to be legalized? :-[

Not me. I don't want my head cut off by something French :P

In all seriousness, no. It doesn't comply with health and safety regulations...

1. Execution IS legalized.
2. No, it is barbaric. Just because you shot someone in the back of the head doesn't mean we should...strangle you to death (for example).
3. Again, safety practices.

Maybe not the guillotine, for reasons mentioned above, but beheading would be fine if you could guarantee that a person were actually guilty.

I dunno... frickin sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads?

I don't necessarily think it wouldn't be reliable...I mean, the technology used in guillotines before sure was, but I'm sure we could "improve" on that now.  Think of a hydraulic powered, diamond tipped blade...but yes, it's definitely too graphic, and all of this assumes the death penalty should be around anyway.

actually it wasnt very reliable at all there are plenty of stores of it not cutting at all in fact there was a law if you would survive 3 attempts they would let you free (it was considered a act of god) and there were people set free in this way

Whoops...not only did I double post, but I forgot to put the "n't" after "was" (though it would have to be changed to "weren't").  My whole point hinged on their old unreliability...my mistake.
