And the people that makes up the first mentioned of those extremes is not suited to live in a civilized society.

Neither are the latter ones. "Civilised society" requires greed to function at all.

Not according to my definition of a civilized society, no. But the latter tends to be used by both the first category as well as by many of the categories in between. :\

In that sense, yes, but there are people who think they can take whatever they want regardless of other people's wishes or rights.

And that's what we have police for.

There isn't nearly enough police on the streets in Sweden to handle the crime and the court system is way too naive.

Ooh, that's are the very best sort of people!  I do enjoy their company, though I'm uncomfortable on the receiving end of too much generosity.  Whether they can "function" in society or not, greed is for asshats and kindness is for the kind of people I want to have in my life.

Then again, it depends on what you classify as "greed".  If you use too broad a definition, even commonplace actions like eating can be considered greedy and you will then die without it.

Mmmm....spoiler of deepness. I have found that there can also be such thing as being too nice and kind. With such people it can often be quite difficult to discern they're true feelings and intentions. Granted, that's not as bad as the other extreme, but it is confusing and can lead to some awkward instants.

With such people it can often be quite difficult to discern they're true feelings and intentions. Granted, that's not as bad as the other extreme, but it is confusing and can lead to some awkward instants.

Maybe they are their true feelings and intentions. Even I get my Fonz-days. (Get it, the Fonz was in Happy Days. Get it? Get it?)
