Title: Snow (Ice) day
Post by: St Oz on January 17, 2007, 01:58:34 PM
Well in my area it's completely icy everywhere, on the trees, the streets, and even in my freezer  :o. Hehe, I got up this morning, got ready, and then when I got outside my car was all ice to the ground because the previous day it rained so there's icicles from my car to the ground and my tires looked like they were elmo glued to the street. So then I knew I was going to be late for school for sure so I call a friend who I know puts his car in the garage, "Hey, can you give me a ride to school today? my car is basically glued to the street."
"What the !@#$ are you calling me so early for, it's a !@#$ing snow day!" "oh... :-\....  :).... :D.... ;D...!" NO CHEMISTRY TEST WooHOO!

So now I'm on the computer telling you about a 'snow day' in Texas. Oxymoron yes :D...

You're in Texas, and you get  an ice day. Meanwhile, I'm here in Massachusetts and until today it's been as though it were spring. Certainly, hardly a flake of snow to be seen, and not a day off.

It must be a sign of the Apocalypse  :P

And some git's just pulled the fire alarm, causing everyone to have to wait out in the cold (but snowless) outside.  One kid collapsed from hypothermia.

I don't get "snow days", but I was mostly trapped at home from last Friday after work through Monday.  The streets were a skating rink!  The residential streets are STILL terrible, but I have managed to get from my house to the main streets without hitting anything the last two days.

It's supposed to get above freezing soon, so I hope that will melt some of that stuff off the roads.

Snow day? It is that sort of attitude that lost America it's empire. When I was a lad we used to struggle to school through blizzards and hail and floods and plagues of gnats. And then they made us sit in classrooms so cold the ink froze in the inkwells.

Young people today? They don't know they are born!

I've never had a birthday in school. For the three years so far it's fallen on a weekday, school has been shut...

I've never seen snow where I have lived. It got really cold in the Appalachians of Alabama, but it never snowed. But here in Destin, its 80 fucking degrees every day.

Ha ha! You're on your ownes. ???

I really really really wish that Norfolk would get some snow. I mean, some parts of Britain grind to a halt. We grind to a halt after trying to carry on. I can remember the last time that is snowed heavily enough to warrant a 'Snow Day'. Our school was still open >:( We went there, slipping and sliding all of the way. When we got to school, at break we had a wonderful snowball fight. Then we were all called into the hall and told to go home. Ah, good times.

We had another snowfall in Missouri yesterday afternoon.  My GF and I were blowing my paycheck at the casino, and when we left, it was coming down thick and fast.  I had to drive her clear across town back to her house, and then back a long way back to mine.  The streets weren't too bad yet, but by the time I got back to my house, the side streets were starting to get slick.

Oh yes yes! I can confirm that for you in person. It was wonderful, we finally got a day off from school and no wonder! There were sections of roads which were either sheets of ice or gigantic oceans of slush.

Pffft. Here in Maine, we got 16 inches of snow, had one snowday, and then a two-hour delay because the roads still sucked. Down in Massachusetts you don't know real snow. And your lobster sucks too.

I'm in Wales we get snow you go a mile inland and its min 2-3 inches for most of the winter.

I've never had a snow day.

one time the roads froze so bad the gritters couldn't get out, this meant that the buses weren't running so my high school made us walk, some poor buggers had to walk about 5-6 miles over iced up ways to get there.
