Republic of Quebec?
« on: November 14, 2007, 06:11:50 AM »
Ok, I have noticed there are alot of Canadians here so I was wondering, what is everyone's position on the independence of Quebec. I mean, the Bloc Quebecois wants to hold another referandum, so what is everyone's position?

Well, here's the thing I think is retarded. They are the original Canada and yet they want to leave. That's like the Thirteen Colonies deciding to leave the United States. Here's the thing I think is going over the top. Jean Cretian said he won't risk civil war, but he will use it if neccasary. Kinda, strange. Quebec would leave legaly, but then boom, civil war. Even the Prime Minister from Quebec doesn't want Quebec to leave and will do everything in his power to keep them in Canada.

So basically, a couple of people want to be separate, and are making a big fuss about it?

I will confess to not knowing very much about Canadian politics, but it sounds similar to the UK, if a bit more serious.  Here, half the country wants to join the EU, half doesn't.  My guess, is it probably won't happen.

There's this crazy thing called "international opinion". Mercenaries have a huge tendency to brutally murder civilians, and that added to the "Canada never hurts anyone, we're always quiet" phrase only reenforces the similarity with how they describe Canada and serial killers.

And Quebec can secede if they want, I don't care. With a separated Quebec, there's at least a small chance that the people will RISE UP AND OVERTHROW THE SHACKLES OF GOVERNMENT STEALING AND TAXES. Sorry about that. I'm becoming a G-C Myroria hybrid.

I wasn't going to comment in this thread, because I don't really care whether or not Quebec gains sovereignty or not, but ^ is just weird.

I wasn't going to, either, but then I saw "I'm becoming a G-C Myroria hybrid." Now I'm having nightmares.
