Hello all,
I decided to put this here since with the upcoming elections things might change for the better and this could remain but a general discussion.
I believe that regional gameplay should be a result of the involvement of more and not of the will of a few.
Being that our region is being rebuilt and that only few of us are available and active, I believe that there are a few things we could do in order to better the situation, based on the experience we had in the past and that is:
1. Have one (or more) official welcomer(s) that should get busy pushing people from the RMB / by in-game TG to the forums. At the moment Gulliver, Welsh Corgi and sometimes others are doing that when they get the chance to. I'd like to see that done in an organized, programmed way. It can bring more life to the region and help get fresh players involved in government, RP etc.
2. Do some military game-play. Elu has had an idea which I liked a lot but until we can put that in practice I believe we need to grow a bit in numbers. With no MoD appointed, we should find a solution to start doing something. Perhaps we should wait for the new delegate to try and get it rolling, the point is that he will need help.
3. I'd also like to spark a general discussion relative to our short-term and long-term aims and goals regarding game-play and I believe everybody should add their input.
Any other important points to discuss, anybody is welcome to add them. We can later also add polls ;) :D

Elu and I were planning to set up a welcome telegram queue and that's definitely a good idea. We were also planning to replace one of our current telegram texts for recruitment which was performing poorly with an experimental one. But then we got the Minecraft server running >_<
Also speaking of elections, I'm deeply hoping we'll be able to make the election competitive this time. I know Elu will be running for Delegate, and G-C and Myroria for Senate. Are there at least 2 more people who'd like to stand for Senate and another person for delegate plus vice delegate?
-
I see, that's definitely a great idea. I was also speaking about appointing a person or more that should actually dedicate themselves to the mission of pointing new Taijis to the forums and welcoming them here, helping them with hints etc. I am willing to do that. Would you be willing to join me and assume this task? Hehe yeah I heard Minecraft does develop an addiction really quickly for those FEEBLE ENOUGH TO GET CAUGHT IN THE SPIDERWEB!!! aaah uhm pardon me.
What the elections are concerned, as it stands there are very few of us active. I do believe that under such circumstances competition is the last we should worry about but rather working as a team to achieve important goals.

I have several things I feel I should get done before the 25th. Gulliver has mentioned a few of them. Once we have our act a little more together, I would like to send out a mass pm.
Our priorities at this time should be recruitment, welcoming, guiding, recruiting, rping, maintaining external affairs, recruiting, etc.

I think the queue broke down again o:

I have always thought that the trickiest part was how to get people from a simple browser game into a forum based interaction. There are so many differences in what appeals to who.
I was going to suggest something that ran almost like a play by mail wargame/Risk game/space game, but using NS nations - which got me wondering about how you would calculate populations.
I really wish NS did not simply increase your population over time as a measure of how long you have been in the game. If it were based on more variables as part of the issue resolutions people could use population numbers for RP or other purposes (like a Risk game).
Really the NS game treats nations more like planets.
Where are you going with this Corgi?
I have no idea ... just thinking out loud.
I don't have any concrete suggestions. Just bouncing ping pong balls off your foreheads.

Hehe Corgi, would you be willing to help me set up a continuous RMB presence and welcome newbies?

Erm... my schedule is very erratic these days. I work nights, but some days I have a day job and I don't even see my computer. Other days I'm various chores or tasks and I may or may not even get onto the computer. I'm not sure I could sign up for being online at specific times.
BTW, working 1 am till 7 am seven days a week - Suuuckks.
-
What I don't even.
-
Wow that's a mean schedule! Ok. Gulliver, would you consider it?
-
I've been trying to welcome people who show up. Again, ideally we should just set up a simple welcome telegram queue, since I'd often run into the problem that I couldn't welcome someone without double posting on the RMB. We already had a text waiting for it.
-
Well ok until that is set up and ready to use I'll be trying to be a constant presence on the RMB and post incentives to join the forums and the WA twice a day.
I already completed a TG-round to all non-WA members asking them to join and support the region, 3 of them already join the WA, I'll keep going.
-
Oh, good. Joining the WA is one of the steps listed in the welcome telegram drafted.
-
Sweet. Fact is that most players appreciate having a conversation partner and not just a TG in their Inbox. Yesterday I got asked when the next Olympics were gonna be :D or just exchanged TGs about the role of WA status or endos and had some disappointed fellows about me stepping up as del being a legitimate, constructive move and not a spectacular take-over :D so basically what I am saying is that having old players willing to newbie-sit can be very profitable for their implication.

I wish Subversion wasn't being such a bitch for me, or else I could help make a text's controller for Toaster so those would be easier to add. I guess I could just hack it up on its own and send it to Elu.
