Here's an idea that I got after reading the latest message from Equilism:
Taijitu should explore the concept of joining the DSA: ADN. This would give Taijitu a large measure of security, a unique new element of international involvement, and would send a message to the international community that Taijitu desires peaceful relations with it's fellow regions. However, the military would be restricted to defensive engagements.
Tossing the idea out there for debate.

There's a few reasons why I don't think that would be good for Taijitu:
1. Taijitu is safe. We have a founder nation.
2. The ADN was well known for disguised imperialist ambitions. Do we want to join that?
3. We want to be free to do as we like with our Military. Yes we need to move somewhat away from massive invasion, that much is clear, but I think it would be an abandonment of the spirit of Taijitu to decide against all raiding outright. Taijitu is built on the principle of balance-- while we may have swung in one direction the answer is not to swing all the way in the other.

Two things:
First, I am not sure we would be welcome in the DSA.
Second, I Do not believe that joining an active defender organisation would send out the message that we desire peaceful relations, any more than would joining an active raider organisation.

If I were to have my nation take part in defender actions, it would be as part of an RLA alliance and not as part of the DSA. Three guesses why.

Because you get extra pairs of free socks.
The only regions who are semi-large are England and TRR (which is actually huge). Being one of the largest non-feeder regions, if the not the largest, I believe that we are better than that.

I wonder if Flem knew he was replying to a month old topic... and that Oz was replying to it when it didn't have a post in it for like a week...
Anyway, if this was a poll I'd vote know because we don't NEED to join a defender network, we're large enough and strong enough on our own. And so soon after the whole TRR affair, wouldn't joining a defender network seem a little... I dunno, hypocritical?

I'd also say no for several reasons. Mainly because, traditionally, we're NOT defenders. We're neither raider nor defender, though we could do either. Also, ADN has a bad reputation.

Our Army both raids and defends. If the DSA is interested in working with us they can do so through the proper means.

I see no reason for this thread to be locked OC. It is clear what Taijitu's position is...but there is no harm in this thread being open for debate. It'll stay open.

I was an executive committee member of the RLA before it stagnated under my main alias Chin-Chillas. Such a good organisation, met loads of good players.
No DSA.
