Title: Christmas!
Post by: Anniane on December 18, 2007, 09:45:54 PM
It's that time of year again. Yes, the time for gift giving, holiday dinners... and bitter cynicism. What is Christmas? Is it a religious celebration, a cultural holiday, a consumerist conspiracy? There's cynicism abound just before the festivities.

So, I ask, how is Christmas?

All of the above.  And, I am a bit cynical, as my current forum name indicates.  :)

Why not. We could sell his tears on EBay.

Hm, for me, Christmas is the holiday of capitalism; I'm not religious and don't really care that Jesus was born on that day; if he had existed, his birth was not of importance, but his actions were.

What's about celebrating at 4th January? It's the birthday of Sir Isaac Newton. From my point of view, his discoveries were much more important than some religious stuff.

Jesus wasn't born on Christmas; the Bible says that he was born when the sheep were out and about, and sheep don't wander around in the middle of December.

I love the winter holiday, I don't care who was born when.  :wb: I just now finished making this year's "Christmas" playlist. Aside from the staples, party highlights will include
Godless - The Dandy Warhols
Closer to the Sun - Slightly Stoopid
Personal Jesus - Johnny Cash
 :drunks:

just hear those sleigh bells jing a ling ring ting ting-a-ling too  :wb:

Christmas has a fresh smell around it. I love it as I do resent bad and heavy scents very much.
*gets up on a roof and takes a few random shots at the shopping-frenzy driven mass of sheep*
