Well, I've already dallied for the first week, and I can't use the excuse of graduation forever, so I'm going to go and take the risk of actually beginning to make concrete promises
Firstly, I obviously need to put the ministries in order. This should happen within the next week, ideally in just a few days. Most importantly, I need to appoint them. Secondly, I'd like to merge a few ministries. Namely, I was considering merging Community and Recruitment and Internal Affairs and Regional Security for the moment at least, because of the large degree of overlap in their responsibilities. I will work with the Senate to rewrite the Ministries Act appropriately. I will also issue new directives for those ministries that do not have one, and possibly revise the one for Internal Affairs.
After that, the next priority is as always recruitment. Eluvatar has informed me that, happily enough, autotelegrams are still legal. But only until June 1. So in preparation, I would like establish some concrete guidelines for manual recruitment. Most importantly, setting up some sort of timetable so we have one person on for as many times as possible.
Since recruitment is manual again, I'd also like to restore our regional currency, this time through Toaster if possible. Working with Eluvatar I hope I'd be able to get something up within two weeks. After that, if everything has gone well, I'd like to spend the remaining weeks further expanding Toaster's capabilities so it can handle citizenship records and elections for us, and allow us to take advantage of our elected legislature and give people who reside in the region but aren't on the forums chances to have their voices heard. Ideally I'd like to accomplish this before the next election but this may not happen.
Next, the military. I myself am ill experienced in this field, so I will definitely be appointing a minister to handle this. I will be instructing them to begin a concerted recruitment drive, and to from now on make sure to encourage all new members to join up as well.
Also, there's been some talk of a University for a while, for practical purposes such as training lawyers and to let people earn little certificates in random topics for fun. I am unsure whether or not this should be by law or directive yet, but I hope to finally do something about it by the end of the term.
Finally, someone please harangue me until I do to finally write an article for the Cabinet on the Wiki.
I'm pretty sure there were some other things that I had in mind when I began writing this post, which I have now forgotten, so if I remember I'll be sure to promptly update this accordingly. I will also post here when I do actually accomplish something, so you can tell whether or not I'm doing anything.
