For the time being, we'll be posting all the news right here. So be sure to peek in frequently for all the news reports as they happen!
Anyone who has news to post on events or happenings around the region are more than welcome to add them here.
We hope to cover it all here - notices of new RPs starting, what's happening in the government, news about organizations, you name it!
-
NEWSFLASH:
Soly will be rejoining RP!
-
What happened in the Senate in the month of August:
A new law was created prohibiting citizens from being used in military actions without their prior consent.
Deputy Minister is still a fairly new office. The Senate has authorized a salary for them of fifteen tai for every week of activity, and an oath of office was written for them.
New Senators appointed this month: Canada-Quebecois Empire, Meridianland, Khablan
-
This just in!
We've managed to coax our own dear Durnia to post some news articles here in the Community Office from time to time. It just so happens that he is also the Minister of Communications over in the North Pacific, and one of his tasks there involves the writing of articles, which are very well written and highly popular. He has generously agreed to post some of those articles here as well. I highly recommend them as entertaining as well as informative reads! Our thanks to Durnia!
-
Another announcement!
The lovely Neenee will also be regaling us with tidbits as well. She current writes the news over in the West Pacific, and that includes coverage of notable events happening in other regions. I know you'll all enjoy reading her work as much as I do. Very big woot to Neenee!
-
In External Affairs:
Two new embassies were opened last month from the Rejected Realms, and Hyrule. Both ambassadors were properly greeted with assorted booze. Not that any of us here are alcoholics, of course...
In the Ministry of Defense:
Taijitu's Army conquered Warzone Africa last week! It was all part of a training exercise. Of Crazed apparently felt that too many cookies and too little exercise was making our troops a bit soft around the middle. It's important to keep our troops in shape. Speaking of which, the army is always looking for more people! So if you happen to have a UN nation laying around, stop on over and volunteer! No head shaving required.
Other Ministry news:
The Recruiting office is a big job. Several hundred new nations are born every single day, and telegrams have to be sent out to every single one of them. But it's vital to the success of the region, because that's how we get all those new nations to join up. The current count in our fair Taijitu is 1111 nations!!!
-
NEWSFLASH:
RP has been rebooted. NS trackers have been dropped and the moderators have decided to take a back seat saying "if you don't like it ignore it"
this has great possibility.
-
Thanks very much for that, Neil! We would -really- enjoy if some of our RPers would post little news flashes from time to time. That's one area we find it hard to keep current in!
-
Have you seen our new smileys? Click the [more] button to see Flagbot and cookie-hippos, in addition to our hippo and taijitu smileys! Brought to you by our visiting friend, Thel. :fb: :hc:

Congratulations to our newest Taijitu Senator, Eientei!
-
You know, we should have a regional news reel and an rp news reel. On the rp news reel we could post all of the happenings in all of the rp environments.
-
You know, that's not a bad idea, Osafune. I like it. But I think I'd rather wait to see whether we get enough RP news to warrant a thread of its own first. I've posted something over in the RP OOC section to encourage people to bring their tidbits over here. So let's see how that goes.
-
Sovereign Dixie has tendered his resignation from the Delegacy!
His announcement (http://forum.taijitu.org/delegates-office/i-quit/0/) was posted in the Delegate's Office a few hours ago. For the protection of the region, he intends to leave his UN nation in place until the Vice Delegate has accumulated the necessary endorsements to surpass him.
We strongly urge all nations to endorse Flemingovia (http://www.nationstates.net/flemingovia), who will be taking over that role.

IRC NEWS
Those of us who hang out in our IRC channel have noticed a decided upsurge of problems lately, stemming from everything from flame-fests to ops-wars. Many people have complained about it, and more than a few have left the channel at times just to get away from it.
The good news is that the powers-that-be are taking the situation seriously, and they are determined to make it enjoyable again for all of us. New official rules are now in place, and will be enforced. Please be sure to read the new rules of the house! (http://forum.taijitu.org/information/irc-official-channel-of-taijitu-rules-of-the-house/0/)

Well come on people! >:(
IN RP NEWS...
(Edited by Khab to specify the above)
Collosean Federation News:
Ex-Prime Minister Azotus IX and about 200 members of the former Collosean Heritage Party have escaped prison recently, fleeing to an island just out side of Feniexian waters and establishing the Thermopylae Republic. The Thermopylae Expeditionary Force, including Collosea's only aircraft carrier the CFS Titan, are preparing to depart and seize the island.
Collosean Foreign Minister Philonexus II has arrived in The Imperial Federated States of Collatica to try and mediate a solution to the country's internal political crisis.
-
IN RP NEWS...
Collatican Federated States News:
Regretfully announce the passing of His Grace, Dux-Imperator Marcus IV, Emperor of the Imperial Federated States for the past three decades. He has ruled with a benevolence previously unknown to the Latican people, and his last testament is expected to set out a timetable to introduce more democratic procedures into the nation's governance.
Much controversy has erupted from the long anticipated last testament of Marcus IV. Dux-Tribunas Populus Lucia Draconia and her radical following are expected to pressure the Imperial House into implementing these new democratic procedures. However monarchist and heir to the throne Dux-Princeps Consul Alexus Draconia has threatened Lucia and her following with military action should they continue down this radical course of action.
To attempt to remedy and mediate the situation Collatica welcomes Collosean Foreign Minister Philonexus II onto her soil.
-
Regional Security:
When a random nation endorses you, be sure to check on the number of endorsements they have before just automatically endorsing them back. Our region's Delegate and Vice Delegate should have the highest number of endos by a comfortable margin. So if you see another one that's accumulated 90 or so, that's cause for suspicion.
And a reminder - Flemingovia needs all our endorsements as our new Delegate!
-
Forum Slowdowns:
We've all been noticing that the forum has been very slow to load at times lately. The problem is on the host's end, not the forum's. But Elu's on top of things! We're going to be moved onto a different server at the host soon, which ought to bring the end of our sluggishness problems. No one can be absolutely sure on precisely how long that will take, but it'll definitely be soon. Yay!

In the Senate this week:
Trey has been removed from the Senate due to inactivity.
The Code of Laws was altered to remove the bit that forces the Ministry of Finance into permanent existence. It was considered unnecessary, because all other Ministries have existed all along without such legislation. Basically, this simply returns the Ministry's status to that of all other Ministries - existing at the discretion of the Delegate.
The Constitution was altered to allow any Delegate who is also a Senator to have a vote in Senate proposals. Previously, the Delegate was only allowed to vote if there was a tie. The tie-breaker vote was deemed unnecessary, since passage of a proposal requires majority agreement anyway.
-
Community Office:
You may have noticed that we've been moving the furniture around in the Community Office and the Information sections of the forum. Up until now, we've had information threads scattered all over both of them, which just didn't make sense. Why should someone have to scour two different places to find the info they need?
So all the informational threads will now be located over in Information, and the news will continue to be posted here in the Community Office. Neater, simpler, and much more awesome. :)

In the Senate:
Elections for the Speaker of the Senate will now take place every three months, instead of every four.
Speaking of which, Speaker elections have just concluded, and the winner is... Gnoled Ttam! Drinks are on the house in the Tavern, if we can sneak the cash for it out of the MoF while I-S isn't looking.

Did you know?
Every citizen can post in the Senate Discussions area (http://forum.taijitu.org/senate-discussions/0/). See an issue that you'd like to comment on? Have an idea? An opinion? Make your voice heard! We want to know what you think!

NEW PARTY ON THE SCENE!
There's a new political party on the Scene in Taijitu, the Conservative Party!
The CPT steers clear of the far right religious groups who have hijacked the label "Conservative."
Rather the CPT has a classical conservative, almost libertarian-like, approach.
If you think you might be interested, you can join the party here:

Election News:
Delegate nominations are now closed and campaigning has begun! Be sure to watch those threads! All citizens are welcome to ask questions of the candidates. We have quite a selection this time around, including some who are running on multiple tickets.
List of candidates and their running mates:
Pragmia with Korinn
Libertarian Monarchy of Myroria with Inglo-Scotia
Korinn with The G Rebellion
St Oz with Pragmia
Solnath with Of Crazed
Of the US with Of Crazed
The following were nominated but declined:
Flemingovia
Allama
Supreme Court
The trial for Taijitu vs. Govindia is under way. Pragmia and Of the US are serving as Govindia's defense lawyers, and PoD Gunner represents Taijitu. Khablan has been confirmed as a Justice of the Supreme Court, but will not be participating in this trial - an odd number of Justices is required to rule on court cases, and the trial began before the new Justice was confirmed anyway.
In the Senate:
We have a new Senator - Akka Wakka! Pink waffles have been added to the Senate menu.

Delegate Takeover in The North Pacific!
Roughly fifteen hours ago, The Grand Imperial Mattyness of Emperor Matthuis overthrew Great Bights Mum as delegate of TNP. Suspicion immediately arose over whether outside help was obtained in order to achieve this goal. Matthuis denies that any outside help was enlisted for the Revolution.
-
So are we calling him the rightful delegate or is it a 'regime' then?
-
All this fuss over little, old Matty. O:-)
So are we calling him the rightful delegate or is it a 'regime' then?
There is no "rightful" Delegate in NationStates, only the one currently in power.
Edit: Apologies if I shouldn't have posted in this thread.

TRR Takeover!
In a sudden turnaround yesterday, Emperor Matthuis ejected his endo supporters from TNP and followed them into The Rejected Realms, affecting a takeover of that delegacy! Read more about it here! (http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php/topic,3721.msg96814.html#msg96814)
With Matthuis' departure from The North Pacific, Great Bights Mum settled back into her former delegate seat there.

In the Senate:
The Senate decided that it was about time the Speakers pro Tempore had an Oath of their own, so they wrote one. For those who aren't familiar with the term, those are the people in line to act as the Speaker of the Senate role if the normal Speaker is absent.
And our newest Senator is (cue drumroll...) Osafune!
In International News
In The North Pacific, Great Bights Mum has settled comfortably back into her delegate seat. Everything seemed to be in order, after cleaning Matthuis' empty soda cans out of her office.
In The Rejected Realms, Kandarin re-affixed his name onto his door and it's business as usual there too, although the cleaning crew reportedly had to remove this graffiti from one wall:
What do you want to do tonight, Brain?
Same thing we do every night, Pinky. Take over the world!
And in The West Pacific, the Senators gather today to knock the cobwebs out of the Senate after their recent and hopefully quite refreshing vacation.

Middle Ages RP Finds New Life
Due to a group of somewhat bored Rpers, the Middle Ages RP has been revived and is better then ever. New map made by Xy, and the promises for a larger map involving the New World, parts of an African-like country and an asia. Also the strategy of having everyone share borders with more then one person. So wars are common and so are civil wars. But there will not just be wars, romantics, assasinations, scandels, usurptions, all the good things. Religion has right now become an important addition, so Joukai has taken up the job as playing the Church while I am the HCEmperor. Already, a thirty-years war has started for control of the HCE, a replica of the HRE in our world between all but one of the rpers. But the Middle-Ages Rpers are looking for more nations and people to rp. So come on down and visit. Check it out and if you like what you see, then join.
