I think it's about time that we had a café, now that we have a city. For off-topic discussions that are still related to the Zocalo. Like Taijituan political debates and discussions and other intellectual, civilised topics too refined for the General Forums.
-
damn global warming, give me an ice-cream, 2 balls of vanilla please.
-
Hm I cannot quite understand what some of these parties stand for. Another cup of tea please.
-
Pray tell if you're referring to the Party. Clarification is essential.
Well, Delf, at least it'll be good surfing.
-
Global Warming is actualy working out quite well for new england, we are starting to get the more California type weather, which is definately a plus in my book.
-
yes and almost 50º in mediterraneum, thanks. I hope when i got to south Portugal i won't die in hell.
We're having alot of luck this year, not has hot as last one and actually clouds and all that are helping, our fire season haven't broke out yet. :-* Maybe it's because we're more careful. Anyway, it's still hot as hell.
more icecream please.

I'll just experience the same after I relocate about a month later.
-
Poor Delf, here it's about 21ºC/70ºF. Go arctic regions!
-
more global warming bashing? we never exceeded 0ºC in the winter, being 5ºC our general lowest, last years there have been -5ºC, we had 10ºC or 20ºC in Winter now it's impossible.
we don't have a waiter, do we?
-
We have -40ºC every winter, no biggie.
I don't think we do. Maybe we should get someone to do that job for us. Hmm, as MoF, I could hire someone for that task.
-
hmm i was thinking perhaps we should put up a strip club next door.
-
hmm i was thinking perhaps we should put up a strip club next door.
That's just mean, abusing the weaker gender.
...I like the idea.
-
What does The Party stand for?
-
everything awesome and [information secret]. our plans are [information very secret]. and the meaning of life is [information very top secret]. understand?
and now i shall buy everyone here a cup of coffee, uichi ryan roast with a shot of caramel for me.
-
2 strip clubs, one at each side, one exclusively with each gender...and now that we're on the business, we could add another in front of the café, with both genders.
-
ewwww. i say no to boys stripping anywhere near me.
-
not even myself? :'(
-
PUR's just being picky, nothing wrong with gender equality. Well...
-
pshhh men have their merits but their looks aren't one of them.
-
I agree.

I need you all too sign a petition to get Theta Pi Tai established. Here's just some of the perks you get with joining Theta Pi Tai:
Complete forgiveness for not following Pha. A frat boy/sorority girl is almost as awesome as being a Pha worshipper.
A complimentary bowl. No, not for weed. Weed's illegal. This complimentary bowl will instead be for the massive amount of condoms/diaphragms you'll be needing now that you're part of a frat house.
A very large stereo for the equally massive amounts of Pink Floyd/Rammstein/Justin Timberlake (gag) you'll be listening to.
A keg.
All this, and more, will be yours if you get Theta Pi Tai established! Unfortunately, there are a couple of rules:
Gang-rapes are generally frowned upon. Try your best not to do them.
Communism inhibits our ability to buy beer, pizza, and more beer. Leave your manifestoes outside.
And that's it! Petition to have Theta-Pi-Tai today!
Signatures:
Myroria.
Gallipoli-China.
PUR.
Delfos.
-
Meh, no communism or weed. No dice.
-
Hey, I never said you couldn't have weed. I said the bowl wasn't for weed. And you know I was kidding about the communism. You can preach all you want, just leave your manifestoes outside. Reading cramps our style.
-
If we can bring RATM instead of Rammstein I'll sign...
-
K.
-
well will i be given acid and a copy of dark side of the moon?
-
Yes. Pink Floyd i5 t3h r0xx0rz.
-
alright add my name to the list!
-
Done. You will become a sorority sister, and the adjacent building is full of whatever strange, lesbian delights you want to partake in.
How many signatures do I need, Eluvatar?
-
for pink floyd, add mine too
-
Elu, I think this part should be for semi-political groups, and that a new section be the Zocalo, for the social group elements. This could be vice-versa, aka move these threads to a new section, I'm thinking of calling it the Boule... or the longer form, the Bouleuterion...
-
Damn, I was away for a few days, and when I come back, there were two new subforums :o .
Hmm...I should apply to a party soon...I like the idea of political parties in this forum somewhy.
-
I am pleased at the advent of a frat/sorority house here in Taijitu.
Also, I vote 'aye' on the men stripping next door. Get me some dollar bills, stat!
-
who's willing to strip?
-
I'm not, but I'm perfectly willing to have someone bring me an espresso. ^_^
Wait, make that a double. No sugar, light milk.
-
/me brings her darling wife and beloved comrade her double espresso light milk.
-
hey the dancer is back
-
No waiters? Why can't we have the strippers wait on us while they're not stripping? Hey you! Yes, the tall muscley guy on the left! Bring me a cappucino, will you? There's a good boytoy.
-
Cookie Comrade Khab, you are, as always, a source of near-divine wisdom.
-
/me sighs and brings Cookie Comrade Khab her cappucino.
-
/me fetches herself a large quad brewed espresso witha touch of real cream and sugar.
i would like to know your thoughts on perception, like are sounds actualy what they sound like or is it just our own minds processing them in a wierd way? after doing some high quality LSD i began thinking about this alot, so please anyone have a thought on this?
-
/me brings her love a scone and sits down for what will surely be a pleasantly interesting discussion.
Sound waves exist literally, of course, but I think the 'sounds' we hear are merely our brain's method of interpreting said waves. The same can be said for sight. It's simply a matter of the way each individual being processes the information being broadcasted to it. We know for a fact different species, and even individuals belonging to the same species, process and understand visual-spectrum waves differently.
I think it likely that the differing each structures of ear being would cause the functioning of sound processing to be different in much the same way differing eye structures do. The waves don't change, but the way we receive them does.
-
the main thing of this that kind of bothers me is that while tripping i thought i began to hear exactly what the voices of people sounded like, it wasn't at all the same as we interpret it. so it had me thinking that we are quite possibley conditioned to hear certain sounds as different from what they are so that they are more pleasant to us. like our voices would sound better to us because we need to use them so often...../me nibbles on the scone
hmm this perception idea is not an easy one for someone who mostly thinks in theories and philosophies like myself.
-
We do condition ourselves to hear things certain ways, but I doubt it's to a very serious extent. I find myself (and others) noticing minuscule changes in people's voices as they gradually grow older, have headcolds, etc., so I can't have conditioned myself too thoroughly; I imagine my subconscious wouldn't allow me to notice, otherwise. This could be poppycock, of course, as I'm not very highly educated about such things.
I don't know about hearing things any differently based on drug intake and the relevant effects; it shouldn't change the functioning of your ears but I know little about how LSD would affect the way your brain processes the information your ears send it. It is a psychotropic drug, so that part of the brain is very likely affected. That's an intriguing thought... I'll have to do some research.
I don't, however, think drugs would allow you to hear something in any more "true" of a way than usual; it could certainly be different, but being truer I find quite doubtful.
-
ahh the fact that it is different is why i lean towards it being true due to my beliefs in what exists generaly being a lie while the abherations and oddities tend to be more truthful. but then again my dear wife i do believe that you are correct, more than likely just wierd drug experiences sticking to my brain.
-
on another note, do you think god enjoyed chemical enhancements to her mental state?
as in do you think god smoked pot?
-
Too much thinking. My brain hurts. And I'm not awake yet. Gimme coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. No, more than that. Heck just leave the pot. (http://www.kolobok.wrg.ru/smiles/user/Just_Cuz_11.gif)
-
/me pours Khab a mug of espresso.
"I personally don't think God needs chemical enhancement. I think He/She/It is already the ultimate incarnation of 'mental' awareness.
Also, I think English needs to have a gender-neutral pronoun that doesn't sound demeaning the way 'it' does. Who's with me?"
-
OH OH ME ME ME!
*waves hand like a crazy person*
-
"It's settled then; we're to come up with a gender neutral pronoun suitable for use in the English language. How about... mu?"
-
purhaps.... MOW?
-
I vote for the ambigrammical one! (It reads the same upside-down.)
-
indeed it does!
-
So... anyone read any good books lately?
/me her coffee.
-
read the final herry potter. that was pretty good. otherwise i haven't had much time for reading. and you love?
/me sips at a mocha.
-
I read that one as well, and loved it! At the moment I'm reading The Dark Mirror by Juliet Marillier, Streams of Silver (the second book in R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf trilogy, through which I am determined to slog no matter how pedestrian the writing), and I'm going through the first four volumes of a manga I got for free (!) ...Kamichama Karin. The shame!
-
Oh a rather fun manga i recently read called Earie Quearie or some such thing would totaly peak your interest.
-
I read volume 12 of Deathnote earlier this month; the final installment! What a great ending!
-
Do you mean the one where the good guys win?
-
/me grabs a biscuit and some more espresso. It's gonna be a loooong day.
-
/me pays for her.
so how has life been darlin?
-
"Thank you, Neil," Alana said as she sipped a bit of her drink. "Life has been going fairly well as of late, I'm happy to report. I'm getting another job, of course, so things may be a bit busier than usual on the home front, but all will be well if it helps pay the rent, as they say. How does the day find you, gorgeous?"
-
bored yet going towords my goals, so its going quite good i should say. i should be driving again in about three months, bartending within five months and going back to college as soon as i can. i am shooting for Ivy League this time.
-
"That's lovely, Neil! Bartending can be a profitable venture, especially if you work somewhere classy or busy. What university do you plan to attend?"
-
Going for Brown, they happen to have one of the best genetics programs in the world and are one of the few places to teach bio-ethics. i think i will go take my SATs over again before applying.
-
"What an intriguing field of study! I'd wish you the best of luck if I didn't already know you'd do fantastically; you're clearly an intelligent man, after all," Alana said as she finished off her biscuit.
-
*Pragmia walks in and looks around in confused wonder*
Since when was this whole affair here?
-
months prag months.
-
"Come and have a sit, Prag. Tell us about your day while I go get you some coffee. Or would you prefer tea?"
-
*Pachamama walks in and takes a seat at an empty table*
Good evening. Could I have some green tea. And a beer for everybody on me.
I just got my Citizenship.
-
"Gorgeous, Pacha! I'll fix you up with a tea myself; it would seem the waitress is on hiatus at the mo'. I hope you don't mind loose-leaf tea; I'm morally opposed to the bagged stuff on account of it being crappy."
Alana hands Pacha a steaming cup of green tea, and slides a tasty brew over to Prag. "I'll certainly join you for that beer later, though I'll have to make mine a glass of wine instead. Shall we meet in the Tavern, then?"
-
"Aaah the real stuff. Yes loose leaf is the best. Don´t they say it´s good luck if a leaf swims on the tea?
Don`t remember it completely. And thank you very much "
"Pragmia my good man. It is a pleasure to meet you here. You were the one who invited me over and I would like to thank you for that."
-
"It's been almost a month since I had a nice cup of coffee? For shame, Alana!"
Alana makes herself a hazlenut latte.
-
/me go's into the cafe and turns on the lights, gets the coffee going, places the ashtrays around, reheats last nights pastries and puts out the open sign.
*yawn*
"well maybe business will be good today..."
/me grabs a coffee a and a smoke.
-
/me in 20 minutes later and grabs a buttermilk scone.
Do you have any good Darjeeling brewing today, dear?
-
by some twist of fate yes i do love./me grabs a cup for al.
-
Thanks so much! This really hits the proverbial spot. :)
Would you like one of these scones? The clotted cream is decadent.
