Are Lynch's films cinematic genius, unique and effective surrealism, complete gibberish, or something else entirely?
I'm not quite sure where I stand on this question. Eraserhead still disturbs me, but Mulholland Drive almost makes sense. Then again, there were those PS Third Place commercials. Maybe I'm assuming there's meaning and giving him too much credit, or maybe I'm missing something.

I like effective surrealism. He did do "The Elephant Man" but also "Blue Velvet", "Wild at Heart" and "Twin Peaks". A lot of his early movies were more for the independent crowd. If you thought "Eraserhead" was disturbing, "Blue Velvet" can't be that far behind.

surrealism, it's art my friend, that's what cinema is about...or should be. I consider David Lynch one of my top 'makers'.

Ah - Blue Velvet.

Currently, I'm finding myself more freaked out by the Brothers Quay than by David Lynch.

David Lynch is eye candy covered in psychological horror.
