My dad wont let me get the Zombie Survival Guide. He thinks that i will be brainwashed as some "Zombie Cultist" and he doesn't get it. Now what am i supposed to do if Zobies attack?!
-
Eat Brainz!
-
nothing just get along with them and they'll even give you candy.
-
yummy!
-
The topic made me hope this thread would include the Technoviking or the All-Father. Sadly, neither.
-
Yeah, quite depressing.
-
umm ya i would just download it somewhere
-
just have the image of zombie cultists in my mind now
in the beginning there was the word and the word was BRAINSSSS!!!!
its not that good, its more enjoyable if you also have the Z war but there were many things that annoyed me in both books (damn americocentrisism).
Also as every British person knows the best weapons to use against zombies are cricket bats they are zombie kryptonite.

Man, your pa sucks. Both books by Brooks are excellent reads, you should try to pick them up if you have the chance. I thought World War Z was particularly fun.
-
Also while I was all "yay zombies!" when I clicked on the topic, I was also secretly disappointed that this wasn't a big fight over book censorship.
-
ok.
-
Okay then!

You know, you could make it one if you want to. :P

Too much work. All that clicking. :-P

Yeah! Who has time for nonstop clicking?!

Not me that's for sure!

Just to make everyone's day:
I feel that, weather we are aware of it or not we are out biggest censors (as a society). If something is published that goes against current media buzz or national sentiment, it tends to get frowned upon, in some cases to the extent of trampling over things like free speech. One example that I heard about (will try to find exact details) was of a small time radio station DJ in the States. He stated that he was against the war in Iraq. This lead to him being criticized as "Anti-American" and a "Terrorist Sympathizer." He was fired from his job, and even received a few death threats I gather. My point is that most people jump at the word "Censored," not realizing that they do it themselves all to often.

Akka, I don't know the specifics of what you're talking about but you raise a good point. We do our best for the most part to stay within the same mold and to stay within the group so we don't call attention to ourselves and be labeled as rabble rousers and be painted as trouble makers. Nobody wants to be known as the kid in school who won't amount to anything.
(I'm exhausted and probably shouldn't be trying to make coherent arguments)
-
That made sense to me and I happen to agree with both of you; as a society we discourage deviation. We do accept certain levels of it, of course, but if someone deviates in a way we don't expect or that goes beyond our often quite limited boundaries, it's suddenly a huge issue and that person is considered troublesome at best and a dangerous monster at worst. Each culture does this, though the boundaries may be a little tighter or looser and bend in different directions.

It's a good thing cultures changes with education. *casts worried looks west over the atlantic*

sex ed.

Something you lack....
-
no, i had it last year.
-
amazing. I thought for sure that was something they would censor. Or was it something more along the lines of "Jane sees Dick. Jane runs screaming for the hills. the end." and class was dismissed?
-
wait, who are you talking to?
-
Ghosts.
-
oh.
-
Lulz.
