Title: Anime
Post by: kor on November 18, 2007, 08:25:38 PM
I noticed we had a topic for Anime movies, but not TV shows. Had to make one. Here's some of my favorites. Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Samurai 7, .hack, Wolf's Rain. ZOMG too many to name them all! Here's a link to watch free anime online. Best part is it's in Japanese with English subs., not dubbed. Anyone that watches dubbed is a heretic.  :-P Subtitled is the only way to watch it. ^_^

We had this great channel for anime called Locomotion. I don't know any of the recent animes but Trigun was great, it came up when i started to lose interest.
There was only one cartoon that made me interest, although has nothing to do with Manga, called Samurai Jack.

Anyway, back in the time i watched anime, there were this cult ones, Evangelion, Ramna 1/2, hmmm what else, well I'll get back to you when i remember.

Nice, thanks for the link  ;D

I think .hack would have been a lot better if they went for lighter humor and made it more about the different types of characters you see in MMORPG's instead of being about tracking down viruses making people go into comas. The .hack with the bracelet of twilight or whatever it was (been a couple years) came closer to this light heartedness, but still missed the mark by a good bit as the series progressed.

Dubbed is evil, unless you're throwing on an episode while you don't want to give 100% attention to the screen but still want to be able to follow the episode.

Not sure of the spelling, but Mantee Loki Ragnarok(?) was a really good series in which Loki had been kicked out of the world of the gods, because Odin took all his power he had the form of a little kid and he ran a detective agency in Japan. Cute series with much humor  :D

We don't have the tradition of dubbing things here, so we normally have at all times the original version with subtitles. It's the best. Although, some french movies hit my nerve, any other language seem to be fine with me. I even seen an Italian movie without subtitles and i understood all, it would be great if Esperanto developed, down with English!

Seconded on the Cowboy Bebop, of course.  I need to see Samurai Champloo, since it's directed by the same guy.

There's also a nice one called Planetes about astronauts cleaning up space junk in Earth's orbit.  Very Bebop-like in the animation and the humor, but it's kind of hard to find.

If you liked Cowboy Bebop, you'd love Samurai Champloo.  I've caught an episode or 2 of The Big O and seems ok.

Irresponsible Captain Tyler was a really funny series. Older style anime but it's about a drifter who joins the space navy because it's an easy life of free room and board with a pension check at the end. He has the craziest luck and eventually becomes a highly decorated war hero just off chance.

I like  Cowboy Bebop and the two shorts the guy did for the animatrix.  I used to watch Gundam Wing in middle school.  Is .hack good?  The basic plot line interested me.

Hmm... I've only seen one of the .hacks... Bracelet I think it was called... I thought that one was pretty good, I kinda wish it would come on again here.  Too bad the video games aren't as good as that one was...

Yes, that was .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. There was .hack//Liminity(an OVA series based on the games), .hack//sign, .hack//gift(a one episode omake), and .hack//roots.

.hack would have been better (in my opinion) if it was more about the everyday lives of characters in the game instead of trying to have some kind of real world consequences and whatnot. Just a light funny romp which follows the interconnecting adventures of different characters such as RP'ers, Scammers, PKs, Noobs, Guilds and whatnot.

Thats just my  :2c: though.

Digging this thread up from its two month-old grave, but Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji is pretty much the best series ever.  It's still airing, but subs are being released as it airs.  Crazy stuff, and very interesting.

I've been watching Samurai Champloo from time to time, and I was wrong, I had already seen it, and yes it's very nice.
