Title: Requirements for Political Offices
Post by: Gulliver on March 10, 2007, 11:32:30 PM
Citizen
If your nation is a member of Taijitu on NS, you can become a citizen. Go to the Internal Affairs Office, specifically this thread (http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php/topic,116.0.html), to apply for Citizenship.

Recruiter
Taijitu is constantly growing, thanks to the tireless work of the recruiters. Go the the Office of Recruitment (http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php/board,50.0.html) to find out more about this job.

Senator
To become a Senator, you must be a citizen for atleast 15 days, and have at least 25 posts on the forums. Go to the Speaker's Office, specifically this thread (http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php/topic,249.0.html) to become apply to be a Senator. Be aware that you will have to answer questions from other Senators for a week, and then wait another week for confirmation. You get confirmed as a Senator if you obtain a simple majority from the Senators.

Speaker
You must be a Senator to become the Speaker. You can run to become Speaker when the election is held. Elections for Speaker are held every 4 months.

Justice
Justices are appointed by the Delegate, and confirmed by the Senate. You must have 300 posts, and be a citizen for 90 days. The senate will take 1 week to ask questions of you, and 1 week to confirm your appointment.

Delegate
Anyone may attempt to run for Delegate. First, you must meet a few criteria; 90 days citizenship, 300 posts,  a population of at least 1 billion. If you meet all three of those requirements, you need obtain a nomination from a senator. Justice nor the Speaker may run for the office of Delegate. The Delegate may not hold office for more than 2 consecutive terms. Elections are held every 3 months, and as it stands now both Senators and Registered Voters may vote in these elections.

Vice Delegate
The Vice Delegate needs to meet the same criteria as Delegate, and must be selected by a candidate for Delegate during the elections.

Ministers
The only requirement of a Minister is that they be a citizen. The Delegate may appoint or dismiss a minister at their discretion. The Senate is allowed to impeach a Minister.

Ambassador
An Ambassador is appointed at the discretion of the Minister of External Affairs. Look for openings here (http://forum.taijitu.org/index.php/board,14.0.html). New alliances are created all the time. For each of the embassies we have here at Taijitu, there needs to be a Taijituan representative at that region's forums.

Note: As per the Finance section of the Code of Laws, the holder of the above offices (barring citizen) get paid a certain amount of ₮. "₮" stands for Tai, and is the regional currency.

If you join the Taijitan Army, don't you get to know your position in the army hierarchy? :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_organization

Dammit!  Well, at least I got the post part down right.  That means I'll have to wait until 23 Aug. before I am officially allowed to apply? :(

Do you have to be a citizen for 15 days before you can apply for Senatorship? Or just 'to become' a Senator...

Well the application can't be processed until you've been a citizen for 15 days.  One person applied the day before that, and was told they just wouldn't start the grilling thread until after that 15 day mark.  But it's probably just best to wait until you fill the requirements, methinks.
