Title: An open apology to AwesomeSaucer
Post by: Funkadelia on July 10, 2015, 08:30:02 AM
I think I owe AwesomeSaucer an apology.

Over a past couple of weeks, I have been a giant asshole to AwesomeSaucer in multiple instances. The sort of attitude I've been showing is activity that runs contrary to both my personal philosophy about relationships and the values of the Taijituan democracy.

My conduct has been totally inappropriate. This is especially glaring given my activity in 2012 in Taijitu. During that time, despite extreme criticism and requests to cease from many members of the community, during my term as delegate I tried to turn Taijitu into an "empire" and fundamentally change everything about Taijitu in the name of activity. Granted, things were a lot worse in 2012. We were under 100 nations. Regardless, I remember my conduct back then and remember the parallels between the criticism there and the criticism of AwesomeSaucer now. However, I have not followed the examples of some of the paragons of virtue and patience that we have in this region. I have acted in a much more cruel and vitriolic manner, and I sincerely apologize for being so rude. I've dragged myself down to such a negative level that it has started to effect my attitude toward other people.

That being said, AwesomeSaucer, I strongly advise listening to our advice. Most of us have had success leading communities and building cultural ministries. For example, Myroria has been delegate of Taijitu during one of its strongest periods, as well as Allama. I was Taijitu Delegate and Minister of Culture in 2012, and Lazarus Governor of Culture in 2014. Eluvatar has been both Taijitu and The North Pacific (Largest region in the game) Delegate, and Gulliver has been Taijitu Delegate. The point is that we all know a lot about what we're talking about, and we are making genuine suggestions. The issue is that we are being increasingly frustrated by your reluctance (or your indifference) to our constructive criticisms of your policies. We have been feeling that rather than being asked to contribute to your efforts in the form of help, you instead present us with your plan, which is set in stone, and welcome commentary but it will ultimately not have any effect. We all want to give you an honest try, but you really need to be willing to accept and adapt to criticism and offers for help.

Once again, I am really sorry for being a terrible person.

You are not a terrible person, even if you can be a right pain in the ass when you put your mind to it ;)

Lol, I appreciate it a lot!  It can take some guts to do something like this, and I commend you on this.  :D

And honestly, I think I should take this opportunity to apologize myself.  I think that I have been a bit too unopen to comments and criticism lately, as well as not using the glorious Ecclesia as much as I should.  I hereby promise to actually listen to and consider all formal and informal feedback.

But Funkadelia, thank you.  This means a lot to me, especially in this period of my life.  Thank you.

Now, how about we all go to the Taijitu Tavern and get ourselves a nice drink, eh?  My treat!   :drunks:

No.  Terrible people are those who never apologize for anything.
