The South Continental Wars May Not Be Over

In response to the sudden invasion of the Confederate States of Dixie by the Democratic States of America, a few regiments of the Canadian military have been moved to Vancouver, Lethbridge, Pentiction, Winnipeg, Regina, Ottawa, and Toronto. The Great Lake Fleet has been put on full alert and so has the High Seas Fleet. With victories of Inglish and Myrorian forces in the north and the recent fall of Seattle, the Canadian military may no go in. This is just a precaution in case of DSA invasion. For the past three years, the Canadian Empire has been at war first with the Democratic States then with Dysanii. Both have ended with victory. The two wars are being called the South Continental Wars, the largest and bloodiest conflict in modern world history. With the end of the Great Border War, the public has expressed concern on whether the Canadian Empire should support the Confederate States militarily or should the empire remain neutral. Some feel that the Canada cannot afford a third war thus adding to the death toll, but others say that Canada should first wait until the economy is up and running again. The two wars have resulted in a loss of 30% of the industrial capibility of the country. The agricultural, lumber, mining and fishing industries are still unstained by these wars, while the steel and and manufactuing industries are hurt. The government is hoping to get the industires back up to par as they were pre-war. The Empress and the Lord Protector have no comments on the war in the south, suggesting that the government may be thinking of one more war. Only time will tell.

The Referendum Ends, Acadia To Join the Pan-Canadian Federation

The referendum held all over the Acadian states and the isle in Dysanii showed that over half the people want to become an independent kingdom as well as join the newly-created Pan-Canadian Federation that has sprouted up. Empress Alia has welcomed the Acadians into the Federation and the crown to the Kingdom of Acadia. But though the kingdom is created, the elections for members of Parliament and the Prime Minister will soon begin. Alia said that the Kingdom will continue to be administered by the Governor-Militant and his two deputies until the elections are over and she can appoint a Governor-General to their place. Among the things that will need to be done in the Kingdom will be the elections, but also the creation of a defense force. Designs for a new uniform for the Acadians has been approved by the Empress and the General Staff. It will be similar to the Canadian battle armor but instead of Canadian blue, it will be amber-colored. The defense force will hopefully be organized enough to where they will be able to assist the Canadian Army in disarming the National Army. But for right now, people cheer on the results of the referendum.

An Old Idea With a Modern Twist

The Canadian government as well as scientists and private corporations have been trying to find enviromentally-safe modes of transportation that will help in the decrease of greenhouse gases. Well after years of trying to come up with a solution, they found one. They have decided to bring a new idea make, but this time with a modern twist. The use of zeppelins has not advocated for over eighty years, not since the Christstani airship Hindenburg blew up over New Jersey. This time, instead of hydrogen, the Canadian airships will use helium, thus getting rid of the possiblity of an explosion. The new airships will be able to travel over six thousand miles in four days and carry over 300 tons of supplies, many times more than an airplane and faster then any cargo ship. The zeppelins are also making an impresion on the military who see their value as supply vehicles and transports. The zeppelins can carry massive amounts of supplies for soldiers and also carry a brigade sized unit into battle. Currently the military is working on a metal-clad zeppelin that can carry howitzers and gatling guns and perhaps even missiles, replacing the Spectre gunships as the world's first sky battleships. The first airship has been built and is being called Federation. The Canadian government feels that this will help stop the increase of greenhouse gases aand perhpas the international community will follow Canada's example.

Motion Passed In Parliament, Gives Cree Nations More Autonomy

Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act, which gives the Cree Nations more autonomy and the full right to govern their lands with their own leadership and legislative powers. Irene Alqouion who is a distant cousin of the Empress herself, was given the title of Queen of the Confederated Nations of the Cree. The new Queen has been advocating for more independence for her people. Most of the Cree are still nomadic people living in the northern territories and the central provinces of Canada, but the queen has been hoping to unite her people into a single nation within Canada. Parliament has given her the powers to organize a legislative branch for the Cree Nations, so Irene has created a Council of the Grand Chieftans. The Council is ruled by the nine Cree chieftans and their title is hereditary. Irene and her son, Prince Huron have been quoted saying that "This is indeed a great day for the Cree people. We will finally in over one hundred and fifty years, unite under a single Cree banner and an independent leadership." Queen Irene has also proposed to the Imperial Parliament that the Confederated Nations be accepted into the Federation as a member-nation, with members in the Imperial Parliament." Empress Alia has agreed to accepting the Cree into the Federation, but there is currently a debate between members of the Imperial Parliament on whether or not they should be accepted. The Federation Is Holding Strong, Reconstruction May Be Finished Early

The Pan-Canadian Federation has indeed been holding strong. The Confederated Tribes of the Cree have been admitted into the Federation as a full member. The Canadian and Acadian parliamentarians now full recognize their Cree counterparts with warm welcomes. As for the reconstruction of the industrial capacity that was so ruthless nearly destroyed in the South Continental Wars, has shown signs of improvements. Already, ten percent of the thirty percent lost in the wars has been rebuilt. The new government in Ottawa has been determined to rebuild the economy. As reconstruction continues, the new Imperial government has been tightening it's grip on the Kingdom of Acadia. Some believe that the Imperial government has been looking at some of the northern American states hungrily, but due to the lack of an economy powerful enough to carry out a long war, the Imperial government has decided to wait. Many among the new government have expressed concern about Empress Alia. Many believe that her inventive policies like the creation of the Federation has resulted in a more powerful Canada, while some conservative hardliners believe that she is becoming more of a dictator and will desolve the Imperial Parliament. Alia has stated she is fully aware of these accusations. She had this to say.

"There are many among us who still remember the days of Emperor George III when a true dictatorship happened and when the country was filled with darkness. My grandmother, and my father after they retook power tried to repair the Emperor George's mistakes. They failed. Imperial Regent Julianne died before she could finish what she started. My father fought hard to stop the socialists and nationalists that supported his father from taking the country. He failed partly. The Socialist Party became one of the most powerful parties in the government. But with the creation of the Pan-Canadian Federation, I have finished what my grandmother started, and now Canadians, Acadians, and Cree can now bask in the light of peace."

Battleships Receive Refit

The powerful Ontario-class battleships are all receiving refit as missile cruisers. Ever since the Battle of the Inglish Strait, and the blockade of Dysanii during the South Continental Wars, the Ontario battleships have become obselete. They have a limited range unlike missiles and they are too slow to catch faster destroyers, frigates, and cruisers. So the General Staff has asked that the battleships now get a refit that will turn them into gigantic missile platforms. The reason for this is becuase, the General Staff believes that building missile cruisers will be expensive, but turning the battleships into missile cruisers will not cost so much. So the Onatrio battleships are now named Ontario-class missile cruisers. When the refiting is done, they will amongst the largest and most powerful ships ever put to sea. The Inglish Columbia was however the first to be refitted and is complete. The flagship of the invincible High Seas Fleet is to join the fleet for new manuveurs that will test it's new strengths. Lord Admiral Marko Hudson had this to say. "The new Ontario-class missile cruisers will fully secure Canadian domination of the South Seas. There are hardly any ships on earth that will be able to stand against the strength of the new missile cruisers. Ever since the rebuilding of the Canadian Navy many years ago by Emperor Paul, the Canadian Navy has always been a force that was to be reckoned with. The High Seas Fleet is an example of that. The fleet has never lost a naval engagement and the including of these missile cruisers will further that legend of the invincible fleet."

The Regency Kingdom Has Been Declared, Acadia Wishes For Own Monarch

The Occupational Council of Acadia has decided with the backing of Empress Alia, that the Acadians should have their own native monarch. While still a member of the Imperial Federation, the kingdom will rule itself with a Governor-General from the Canadian Empire to protect their interests. The six hundred thousand man Federation Army currently holds the Acadian nation with a tight grip. However, no rebellions or uprisings have been experienced. So, Governor-Militant Currie has welcomed this idea, but first, they will need to find members to lead. A Regency Council has been created to rule alongside the Occupational Council until the new King has been found and a Parliament has been created. Already a new flag and coat of arms has been created and are in current use. The members of the Regency Council are Arch-Bishop Gregory Collins, Duke Daniel Vassar and Baron Tyler Dire. These three men will lead the Regency Kingdom of Acadia until a new king can be found. Some people speculate that Alia will pick someone from her own extended family who may have a small Dysaniian background.

Myrorian Depression Has Given Positive Results To Canadian Trade

Ever since the Myrorian Depression began, the results have been mixed all over the world. But here in Greater Canada, the results have been good. The Canadian trade economy has increased nearly four-fold, and the Canadian currency has gone up. Though Greater Canada doesn't trade that much with Myroria, the Myrorian trading business have alot of money, in turn so have their international counterparts. So many of nations have come to Greater Canada to get the same products that once came from Myroria. In response, trade in Canada has increased, employment has increased and the riches that the Canadian Empire is bringing in is helping the final stages of reconstuction happen faster. The Canadian government however, has seen the Myrorian Depression as a double-edged sword, because a large amount of Myrorian soldiers are the stable of the PI forces. The Canadian government has launched a massive recruitment campaign to try to increase the Canadian military might at least until Myroria can get on their feet. As for the assassination of the Myrorian Empereur, the Canadian government sends it blessings. The Canadian Imperial Family have stated that she will attend the funeral.

Giant Chess Game in Northern Dysanii, High Seas Fleet to Aid Ally

Ever since a great Loyanese fleet made it's way south to the South Continent for mysterious reasons, there has been a game of chess being played on the high seas. The legendary High Seas Fleet has moved in to meet their allies. The Valideen and now the Delfians of the DYSFOR have sent their navies to challenge the Loyanese Navy. The High Seas Fleet is the largest of all four fleets now being met in this area of ocean just north of the Horm of Valhene. Reports are still skechy, but we have been told that the Inglish Columbia, the pride of the Imperial Canadian Navy, is rushing to meet the Loyanese, while the rest of the High Seas Fleet moves in as fast as they could. Lord Admiral Hudson has been commented as saying that, "The Canadians will not abandon our allies ever, especially in our own seas. The South Seas are dominated by the Canadian Navy, ever since the end of the First and Second South Continental Wars. We will not engage the DYSFOR navies unless we are fired upon, but we must show that we will fight fire with fire, and that our fire is bigger." Currently, the Lord Admiral of the Navy is commanding the heavy missile cruiser Inglish Columbia into the region.

Elections End With New Lord Protector and New Party

The results are in. The Socialist Party and William Lyon King have now replaced Xavier and his Progressive Party has the ruling party. The Socialists have even won the majority in Parliament. William Lyon King commented after the results cames in saying. "The Canadian people have picked the right choice. The choice that will bring about peace, power, and prosperity. I will honor my policies and I will begin when I am sworn in." William Lyon King was sworn in this morning as Lord Protector. He said the oath in front of Parliament and then began his work. The first piece of legislation he wanted to pass was the order to dissolve the Imperial Federation. Parliament has spent the last few hours debating why or why shouldn't the Imperial Federation be dissolved. Lord Protector William has also began his term by visiting the Empress and the Imperial Regent. They are to discuss the handing over of the emergency powers of the Empress. A Socialist parliamentarian had this to say. "The moment that William walked into Parliament, he wanted to get to work. He is a hard working man and will bring great things to our already great country. We have faith that he will lead us well."

The Socialist Party is encouraging the increase of the Canadian military manpower. The set goal is five million.***The Acadian Civil War is still at it's stalemate. Lord Protector King has expressed concern about the Canadian soliders there. Some feel that he will order the immediate pull-out of the Canadian Army.***Lord Bryan Durham, the ambassador of Canada to PI, has left in a rathe fast hurry. Some suggest something is up with the Lord and it may involve PI.***

The Imperial Federation Has Been Dissolved

The Imperial Federation that the Canadian government had created has now been dissolved. The Socialist majority were able to get the votes they needed to dissolve the Federation. It, nearly led to a confrontation between the Lord Protector and the Empress. Empress Alia was going to veto the bill, when Lord Protector King threatened to have Alia brought before the Supreme Court on charges of conspiracy to dissolve Parliament, and abuse of her emergency powers. Alia backed down and signed the bill. Though in truth, she didn't want to dissolve Parliament, her record showed that she was becoming more and more of a dictator. With the Imperial Federation dissolved, Lord Protector King has stated that he will also give full recognition of Acadia as an independent nation. He also advocated the withdrawal of Canadian soldiers from Acadia, but a rising star in Parliament, the leader of the up and coming Liberal-Democratic Party, Daniel Trudeau was able to have Parliament turn down that bill. He said that because of the Civil War, the Canadian government needed to stay and continue to support the Acadian government in force of arms.

Daniel Trudeau is a politican from Nova Scotia. He became a member of the House of Commons just after King became Lord Protector. Though a strong supporter of King, he doesn't like some of his policies, expecalliy the breaking of the alliance between Canada and Feneixia. Daniel feels that diplomacy make help in asking the Feneixians to leave, not force of arms. He also believes that the Feneixians should hold a referendum in their occupied territory to see if the people want Feneixian rule. But the current Lord Protector wants imperialism to end, in his country and in others.

Increase of Border Guards Between Acadia and Feneixian-Occupied Dysanii

The snow-capped border between Acadia and Feneixian-occupied Dysanii has exprienced a swell of border guards on both sides. The two most stalwart of allies seem to be on the brink of war. Feneixia and Canada have since renounced their alliance, not long after Canada left PI. The Canadian military have moved in a large number of soldiers as well as armor. Ever since the announcement that the conference may end with a successful conclusion, the business that will be a thorn in the re-unification of Dysanii is the Feneixian territory. Marshal Worthington had this to say. "It is sad to see that Canada is willing to turn it's back on it's closest allies. And not only that, but an ally that had gone through a tradegy alongside the Canadians. If the dead weep, then Emperor Paul is weeping. He is weeping because his closest friend is ready to go to war with them. However, if the war should come, the Canadian government is ready to fight." A large amount of soldiers have been moved to the border. There have been reports of Feneixian and Canadian soldiers meeting in the middle and have played games and exchanged letters as well as other recreational activities. The General Staff has done nothing to stop it. For they know, their counterparts are doing the same in the Feneixian capital. A reporter was sent to the border and saw a patrol stop and start a game of hockey with their Feneixian counterpart. They had this to say. "This is truly a strange event. The Feneixian and Canadian patrols know that a war could happen at any minute, but they don't care. They remember the alliance between the two countries and the long friendship. This is a protest to the government, that they should think of allying with Feneixia again."

Canadian Soldiers to Come Home, Acadian Military Is Placed on Red Alert

The last Canadian soldiers in the Kingdom of Acadia are sent home. The reason is that the war that has started between AC and Feniexia. The government is afraid that it will spread to the South Continent. For the past few years, the Kingdom of Acadia knew that it only took a small spark to start another Dysanii war. So they have been spending much of their years of independence building and buying ships for their navy, building weapons for their army and also for their air force. Now of all of the independent Dysaniian nations, Acadia has the largest and strongest military. The Canadian government have loaned them Tiger tanks to better their chances should Acadia go to war. Right now, war has not been declared, but the Acadian government is not willing to take chances. Their military is now on red alert and the reserves have been notified to be ready in case war begins. The Canadian government has promised in case of war, that supplies, like food, munitions, as well as other products will be shipped to Acadia. The Acadian Northern Fleet is now being sent to sea, and now is patroling the coast alongside the Coast Guard, while the Great Lake Fleet is moving from it's port in Wilhelmshaven to the Canadian island-city New Beaconsfield that guards the opening into Acadian's side of the Great Lake. Marshal Sander has said that these are not offensive manuvers, these are defensive operations in case the AC forces or the PI forces decide to invade the country. The people of Canada and Acadia however pray that war doesn't come. So while the Aemillian Free State is calling this war the Fourth War of Re-Unification, the Acadians now have made it clear that they refuse to rejoin a Dysaniian nation forcibly and that it will fight for it's independence.

The Great War Has Begun, Canada To Be Neutral, But Is Preparing For War.

The Great War, the first global war has started. The Feniexians and AC forces have been fighting far to the north,but word has come of PI forces will be backing their ally. The Canadian government fear a war on the continent for many reasons. The Aurorean Coalition has increased it's number by welcoming the Aemillian Free State into their alliance. The Republic of Valhene has been accepted into the PI ranks as a full member. The Kingdom of Acadia, third independent Dysaniian nation has decided that a Dysaniian War dor Unification may mean that their independence will be threatened. The population of Acadia has enjoyed their wealth and power that they have achieved, whil the other Dysaniian nations are on the edge of poverty. Acadia has yet to vote on whether or not they will join any of the opposing sides, or like Canada, they will be neutral. Because the Aemillian Free State doesn't recognize the Kingdom as an independent nation, Acadia is most likely to remain neutral or join PI. The Canadian government has annouced to the AC forces that any attack on the Acadian nation will be considered an act of war, and Canada will respond respectfully. So while the business on the South Continent is leading to war, the Canadian government has started to look elsewhere with interest. The Loyanese, Feniexian and Myrorian forces will most likely be the PI forces taking the brunt of the attacks in this war. The Canadian government doesn't wish for trade to be affected with these nations, so they are currently thinking of ways to better relations during war-time. The Canadian industries have now stepped up creation of war-machines and munitions. The world will be on fire for the next few years, and Canada will make sure it will survive the blaze.

Quebecois Separatists Gain Power in Provincial Elections

The Quebecois provincial elections ended with the Bloc Quebecois winning the elections over the previously majority Liberal Party of Quebec. Jean Claude-Phillipe, the Bloc Quebecois' leader became the Premier of Quebec. The separatists created their own party not long after the political union between the Empire of Canada and the Kingdom of Quebec that turned into the Greater Canadian Empire. So for the past years since the unification, the separatists under the leadership of Jean Claude-Phillipe, had been growing in numbers. Now, Premier Claude-Phillipe now wishes to start a referendum that decides Quebec's independence from the Empire. Jean has promised if Quebec were to separate, it would continue to have close relations with Canada. The Canadian government has no problem with the referendum, but hopes that the Quebecois people decide to continue to stay in Canada. The referendum will be held in a few days.

New Quebecois Flag if Referendum Succeeds, Quebecois Military Units to Remain in the Province

The Quebecois Premier, Jean Claude-Phillipe, has issued a possible Quebecois national flag should the referendum succeed. It is a reverse color of the current provincial flag. The Bloc Quebecois have gained many supporters in polls. The majority from the Quebec City area and the other smaller cities. Montreal has put up some resistance. Montreal has become a federalist stronghold, while the rest of the province are more independentist. Jean Claude-Phillipe has been unofficially named the President of the Republic. While the provincial government prepares for the creation of a national government, Field Marshal Montcalm, a semi pro-independent and a member of the General Staff has ordered that all Quebecois military units in Quebec to remain in the province, while all units outside of Quebec have been ordered to come home. On top of that, the only all Quebecois-speaking fleet, the Quebecois Battle Fleet has been ordered to remain in port. In response to this, the Canadian imperial government has sent in delegates to discuss the referendum.

Referendum Fails By One Percent

The Quebec independence referendum failed by one percent. 49% of the people of Quebec, mostly the Quebecois-speaking majority wanted independence, while a few Quebecois-speakers and most of the minority Inglo-speakers called for the continued union with Canada. Premier Jean Claude-Phillipe was not pleased with the outcome, but promised another refendum in a few years. The self-styled Quebecois Army will remain in Quebec for another two weeks before orders from the General Staff will send them to the Acadian border where the other Canadian units are massing. The Quebecois Battle Fleet is preparing to leave port and to join with the Northern Fleet to attack the PI fleet. But the Deputy Premier Charles La Folette is still calling for independence, one way or the other. Some call him a militant, but those close to him call him a true revolutionary and independentist. The Imperial government however, is reliefed that the referendum failed. General Staff Chairman and Marshal of the Armies of the Greater Canadian Empire, Frank Worthington has been qouted saying "The Quebecois speaking miltiary units make up a third of our total military strength. A military rebellion may be disastorous for Canada. But fortunatly, Premier Claude-Phillipe is a down-to-earth man and is against armed revolt." The government has said the same and will now continue on with their campagin against the Acadians.

The Canadian Army Crosses the Acadian Border

The Canadian nation is finally at war. The Third South Continental War has begun. In the past 5 years the South Continent has been ripped through war, and now it has happened again. The Canadian First Army under the command of Marshal Frank Worthington has already crossed into the Kingdom of Acadia. The Acadian Army is now reeling backwards from this swift attack. The First Army has been split into three corps. The I Guards Rangers Corps has so far advanced the fastest and deepest only to halt at the city of Roughwood. The Acadian Army nows that if Roughwood falls, then the Canadians can cross the long Wier River into central Acadia. The northern corps, the I Corps has been forced to bog down as Feniexian and Acadian forces had used the multiple lakes and woods to set up a strong defensive line. In the south, the III Corps has advanced to the southern city of Cremia, the home port of the Acadian Great Lake Fleet. The city has put up a staut defense, with help from the Great Lake Fleet. Reports have come in that the Acadians are planning an attack on the Canadian stronghold of New Beaconsfield that guards the opening into the Dysaniian side of the Great Lake. So far the "Bastion of the Empire" is exchanging fire with Acadian artillery and halting any bombing attempts. But if the Canadian Great Lake Fleet doesn't get there, then New Beaconsfield will fall. The disappearing guns which were former guns of battleships are shelling the Acadian coast day and night. The civilians have either been drafted into a defense force, or into engineer groups that clear rubble or fix pipes and other important objects. The garrison of ten thousand are among the fiercest and best trained of the Canadian army. Our hopes and prayers go out to those trapped in the city-island.

As Republic of Quebec Rebels, Canadian Army Calls Up Reservists

Ever since the Quebecois declared independence, the Canadian Army already spread thin. So they have called up an army of reservists to fight the rebellious Quebecois. A full corps under the command of the young, but tested Lieutenant-General Thomas Richards, will meet the Quebecois Army on the battlefield. But since the Army is spread thin, the reservists will be going in with second-hand equipment like the aged Leopard I tank, as well as Griffon helicopter. Thomas Richards has also called in the Canadian Light Horse, a reservist force of Canadians from the Yukon, Alaska, the Northwest Territories and the Central Plains. Because of a lack of armor for them, the Light Horse still go into battle with horses. Thomas Richards say that they will be mostly scouting and screening. But if neccesary, they will have to use dragoon and cavalry attacks in battles. Thomas Richards had this to say. "In rebellions, you need to be mobile and quick as well as silent. Infantry are slow. The Light Horse are quick and mobile. They are trained as mounted infantry or dragoons. So we will get infantry in areas quick and be also launch raids. This will be an unconvential warfare. Gurellias and such. Cavalry will be good use." We pray for the soldiers safe return.

New Main Attack Fighter Released To Replace Aging Avro IIs

The Avro Arrow III is the Canadian Air Force’s newest jet fighter, one evolution past previous swept wing design experiments. In the Avro III, the Department of Military Research and Development got it right. It carries a powerful array of missiles - air-to-air and air-to-surface - to engage a wide variety of targets. It has the mandatory, last-ditch 20mm gatling cannon for close-quarters fire and strafing, as well as a universal missile decoy launcher.

However, of interest is its old-fashioned external hardpoint weapon mounts which carry its fearsome array of missiles. These mounts reduce the overall range of the aircraft (it increases drag), but  makes it faster than the Aurofighter to launch a snapshot missile during close-in dogfighting. All-in-all, because of its lesser stealth capabilities, (as measured by the Aurofighter) some call it more of a ‘budget’ aircraft. However Canadian designers strove for a design that would win a split-second dogfight standoff vs. evading radar to get deep into enemy territory. In all tests to date, all evidence points toward the Aurofighter having a counterpart to be concerned with.

Empress Alia Gives Birth to A Baby Boy and A Girl

Empress Alia had been expecting for a long while now and finally, she gave birth to Crown Prince Paul Artorion II and Princess Miray Artorion. The entire country was up in cheers and excitement. Even in the Republic of Quebec, supporters of the return of the crown openly held parties for the new children. Guests from all over the world came to visit the children including Emperor Frederick of Christstan, Emperor Nathaniel of Feneixia, Emperour Maurice of Myroria as well as representatives from the DSA, Inglo-Scotia, Delfos, Loyan, Validus and other nations. The one question has been on everyone's mind and that is, who is the father of these children. Alia has said that the father of the children will be revealed in time. Some people have many ideas. Some experts say a member of the Christstan General Staff, some havebeen bold to say Emperour Maurice and even Emperor Nathaniel. Alia has said that this is a happy time and not to worry. She says that the father already knows and is on his way to see the children. Alia and the children are now on a country wide tour.
