Some Delgate Words... Words words words.
« on: November 12, 2013, 03:24:23 PM »
I know this situation might be frustrating, many of you have been trying to restart the region since the summer, to no avail. I've been Delegate for a year now, I look like I don't care anymore, which is simply not the truth. I care very much. Why am I holding onto this position so hard? You all might be asking.

The truth is...

Two individuals.

I don't want either of these two to hold my seat, ever.

EVER.

I'm not biased in my position, I haven't banned either of these individuals or denied them any opportunity. I've given them full opportunity to oppose me and vote me out of office and recruit and promote activity as however they see fit.

But neither of them have succeeded in removing me, despite tireless effort and my very lack of effort to stop them. This goes to show that maybe the region doesn't really enjoy the idea of these two individuals running the region either.

So I want to make it clear, I will gladly give up my Delegate seat, to anyone, but these two. I will open elections again because I believe a certain amount of activity is coming back.

Why don't I want either of these people to run the region? Tradition.

Traditionally, Taijitu was my safe place in nationstates where I didn't have to worry about impressing everyone with a neatly peer-reviewed law paper, or I didn't have to read the constitution (and I still haven't), or I didn't have to really do anything to just talk and hang out with people. The people here aren't overly offended by my antics, the people here know what real writing in roleplay is better than any other region I know, and this region is the only region I know of that likes to improve its map quality as a sign of pride rather than just another gimic on the forum. You all have plans for Taijitu that go against our traditions of neutrality and our off-beat humor. I don't want this place to be just another region in nationstates, and I don't want either of you to ruin this region.

I believe these two individuals would destroy all of that. And I'm not going to be a pansy and not name these individuals. I'm going to call you both out, Chasmanthe/Lapeirousia and Delfos. I don't know if you two even like each other, but you both expect too much from an old region, take one step at a time. You both don't seem to realize there are other people on the other end of usernames. You both want to go on witch hunts for every damn decision and blame me for everything that is wrong with this region. I am one guy, with a 9-5 (sometimes 7-7) job, and working for a graduate degree in Economics. You're both all talk, no action. It's been common knowledge that the delegate doesn't really handle recruitment, that's something you ask elu about with his toaster thing. I made a minecraft server, neither of you joined or seemed too interested. This isn't an authoritarian regime people. I can't tell you two to be active or anyone else. That's up to them. Sure I could do things, and I did do things to try to bring a little chirpiness back. The minecraft server was one of those, before it was trying to revitalize RP, and now I'm casually working on a civ 5 mod of Taijitu.

What I really want to ask of you two is to kindly move out of the way for people who can really jumpstart this region, I'm holding onto the seat so it doesn't succumb to the likes of either of you. Want to change my opinion? Fly out to Dallas and out drink me, then I might like you better. Or maybe show a little bit of humor.

If you both solemnly swear never to ever ever hold the office of Delegate, I will see to this council or to reopening of elections...

Sorry for being so blunt.

I love you both.

Thank you.

I agree that I think Taijitu is special, and I think and dearly hope we can wake it up without killing that.

We're going to want writeups that really help people get into our kind of RP, perhaps with a practice RP area or something. Thoughts?

Oz, It is my conviction that you don't give a crap about politics and you just want to think about this region exclusively, whatever you defend was never put in question by me and I agree with everything you just said, except for all the parts you mention or suggest about me and my convictions, which are completely wrong. I understand that, in conclusion of my first sentence, you do not write things politically correct, and therefore this post of yours is like therapy, completely out of character (for a Delegate or Lt Delegate of Taijitu).

Traditionally, Taijitu was my safe place in nationstates where I didn't have to worry about impressing everyone with a neatly peer-reviewed law paper, or I didn't have to read the constitution (and I still haven't), or I didn't have to really do anything to just talk and hang out with people. Great, but you were the Delegate of Taijitu. I prefer the internal crap and RP and all that than dealing with external affairs, but you had some sort of responsibility as Delegate. If you truly defend neutralism by Taijitu, you can't go around offending "high ranks" of other regions, it's taken as Taijitu offending other regions, therefore, NOT neutral. Please understand that, I'd rather you did nothing, than talk to other regions.

At no point I wanted your seat (it's not yours :P), I even defend there to be no "seat". You think I take this crap so serious? This is a fricking game, you were Delegate you were bound to get internal political opposition. I thought you couldn't care less about politics and so it gave me a big gap to fill with "serious" opposition. Apart from that, I never tried to take you off Delegate, we'd have NO delegate because, after the crap I had to endure last time I wouldn't want to, neither I would want any of the potential candidates ;), hence why I'm never eager to vacant any position including Chief Justice.

I believe these two individuals would destroy all of that. And I'm not going to be a pansy and not name these individuals. I'm going to call you both out, Chasmanthe/Lapeirousia and Delfos. Nothing I've defended so far would be against Taijitu traditions, some people you fail to mention have more intent to break traditions than me, and I'm offended you'd put me in the same bag as others since nobody has truly backed me thus far and I never backed anybody's intentions except for Eluvatar's Delecacy. I too have my life and you should take whatever people get at you as part of the game. I go as far as telling you that you should have posted this outside the "Government of Taijitu" board because for me, inside you're performing a character, outside like General Discussion, you're completely Out of Character, being yourself, which seems what you're aiming right now. I didn't adhere to minecraft because it's too expensive for how crappy the game is (imo) 20 euros for a fricking cubes game? Jesus. I rather buy an indie game off steam with that money. I've no idea how to take this. But you have to agree, this, and most of your post, is complete discrimination. Move out of the way? Are you fcking kidding me? Do you even lift? Totally agree. There's been a lot of thoughts, besides nation RP which I'd like to be involved if it's not a military fest, I suggested a region RP, like if the region was a nation and we were all living in Taijitu. I even suggested to have conflicting sides to RP, and with the recent proposals it would be Monarchy vs Council, people would RP how it was to be with this conflict, it's be 1914 Russia all over again. Conflict = competition = activity = nasty mud fights

I agree with a lot of what you said, though I think that both Delfos and Lapeirousia are harmless and well meaning.

Delfos has held the Delegate seat before and did relatively well.

I know that you care about the region and I think that you did well given the situation and I do honestly mean that. The region was not in a good position, you were the right leader for the time and I know that you deeply care about this region.

I hope that you recognise that both coups (by me) were in good humour and not serious.

Thank you Oz I appreciate you expressing it.

I feel a little bit misrepresented, but at least it's a starting point.  You never took time to respond to hardly any of the things I said to/about you.  Maybe I approached it the wrong way.

McM is half right and half wrong when he says I'm harmless and mean well.  I do mean well.  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.  I was looking out for Taijitu because I thought it was being plotted against.  I decided to invest time here because I have a positive impression of Taijitu from Eluvatar when he speaks about it, and from Delfos too.  Not from you.  You're obviously a popular guy, but there is this personality clash and I get this a lot.

I admire the roleplay attempt that you and myroria tried.  It was engaging and well written but I am not a writer.  If I had more confidence and dedication and any actual talent I would do that.

I do have 9-5 job, and nowadays NS people upset me more than work people do.  I don't fit in here, is that because I made no effort?  I have made lots of suggestions in the senate and put my thoughts out there, I even discussed with Funkadelia and McMasterdonia plans to coup Taijitu if it would help.  And why hasn't that happened?  Partly because in my conscience, I know it's not the right way to do things, and partly because most of the WA nations and the outside world really do not give a fuck about Taijitu.

I would like to go away for new year but I am short of money just lately so I will fly out in 2014 to outdrink you.  You might not like me IRL, but what have I got to lose?

I have a lot of negative feelings and I guess somewhere a psychologist would be able to very quickly discern why it is the regions you care about that hurt you the most.

I am powerless in this game.  There was a short time when I had 11 endorsements and wanted to bring Taijitu back to following its own rules, I can admit without any insult that I did want to topple you.  You called people fat and not sorry.  If you have faults with me, say them on the forum like you have done.  I don't expect you to form a party if you don't want to.  You're allowed to bend the rules as much as you want as long as you're liked.  You've been here a long time I guess you've earned it, people know and understand you here.

I think minecraft is a great idea but it's just not something I'm into.  Maybe I should have told you that instead of remaining politely silent?  I think you'll find I promoted the minecraft idea a couple of times, I'm sorry you didn't get many takers.

It's not the things people say about me that bother me it's the ignoring me and avoiding me that creeps me out, but why should anyone care anyway if I haven't proved why I'm worth listening to?  I've been playing for a year and what social skills have I got from that experience?  In a region of just 47 nations I'm the 41st best Taijituan.

This region is torture, I'll admit some of the forum is not to my tastes but I vehemently oppose attempts to move it.  This region is sentimental for me.  If you compare my progress here to the Lexicon it's about the same but I made about 5% of the effort in the Lexicon as I did here.

You think I don't respect you but when and where were my opportunities to show you respect?  Did you miss my positive comments about you or did you take them all to be sarcastic?  You do not respect the constitution and although it is only paper whilst you are human, the constitution is there to protect the people from tyranny and that is something that should be preserved.

Do you know how embarrassing it would be if a royalist/imperialist regime took over here?  McMasterdonia can't be delegate here because he's already delegate elsewhere, but I entertained his shadow government because I'm bloody open minded.

Delfos has added me on skype but we haven't actually talked much so no I don't hold out much hope for a breakthrough between us Oz, since I agree with most of the things he says and I disagree with most of the things you say.  A drink in dallas can't hurt though, I think we would enjoy it.  Just promise not to kill me, I want some guarantees.

I think we should have a chat, you, me, Delfos, Eluvatar and McMasterdonia and decide if it's worth officially asking me to leave the region.  If the majority honestly want me gone then I would welcome a ban, preferably with a sarcastic psych referral.

To be clear, I do not in the slightest agree with St Oz in his characterization of Delfos and Lapeirousia. I agree with mcmasterdonia that they mean well, and we need people who mean well.

I think that the only people who might need to leave Taijitu are people who are intentionally undermine it or who are impossible to get along with. I don't think we have anyone like that around at the moment.

Lapeirousia, if I may ask, what about this region is torture specifically? Accusations which have been made against you?

Also, any constructive criticism of the forum is welcome, particularly here.

I suggest the promotion of a real life Taijitu event, The Ozian Drinking contest! I think he might need it to decompress from all the stress with his job and studies. I do not have the means to go to Dallas, but as I said, I'll be in SD for December, it'd be likely that I could get to Sioux Falls for a drinking contest :P

That was the wrong word.

It's like... when there is just a little bit of water dripping on you for a long time, or, since I have never experienced anything like that, it's more like air conditioning blowing on you for a long time and you can't turn it off.  It's just a little breeze but it eventually drives you insane.

It's actually just a feeling of frustration, not being listened to, people suggesting things that don't make sense that they won't explain, people not accepting my friend requests.  It's confusion at trying to encourage the normal running of the region and the message not getting through.

The accusation is fine.  I'm fine with the accusation.  It took six months of ignoring before we got it.

He's so bothered about me being in the delegate seat but not sure what is so bad about it, I have no plans for what to do with it except to restore the boring rule of law.

I.. can understand that feeling. Though perhaps not applied in the same sense, but I believe that Funkadelia, Letonna and myself felt the same about not being listened to and did find it frustrating.

Also the imperialist government was never a serious thing, but I feel that it was a bit of fun and brought some attention to Taijitu and brought in some activity from other players.

I also feel that I understand your intentions and feelings about Taijitu a bit better here. I hope you understand that when someone shows up in a region and wants to be Delegate and change things right off the bat, it can make people a bit nervous about that pure ambition and can lead to it being misunderstood.

We need well-meaning and dedicated people for this revival to work. I cannot commit as much time as some others because of studies, family commitments and my other NS positions. I can hopefully though, donate some money to the purchase of stamps.

Any allegation that the Ministry of Regional Security is spying on Taijituan citizens in a misguided war on communism would be completely baseless. I have not ordered such surveillance, nor has the Ministry hired any Agents for this purpose.

The allegation that there is communism or an organized communist faction by Taijituan citizens would be completely baseless. I have not been informed of such refounding of the Taijituan Communist Party or any similar organization.
